Simon Goodwin SEN Interview 17.07.2025
This is based off my own gut feeling, but I think Fritsch will definitely stay and Oliver could potentially be shopped around. When I thought about him saying that we're trying to evolve our midfield into a transitioning team, to me Oliver is the odd one out. As you say, they're not going to come out and say we're not trading anyone out, but I think we're going to be ruthless this off season. And when you're ruthless, sometimes you have to give up quality to get something back in return.

Simon Goodwin SEN Interview 17.07.2025
Apple PodcastsSimon Goodwin, Melbourne coach (17.07.25)Podcast Episode ยท SEN Breakfast ยท 16/07/2025 ยท 14mInteresting interview. Few points he made that pricked my ears Off season focus will be adding more midfield talent to fit in with our transitioning game. I think there will be another focus on adding forward talent and experience. Quote, "leaving no stone unturned" when I heard that my initial reaction was Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay. Exposing talent. Spoke about the likes of Jeffo, Tholstrup, Lindsay, Langford continuing to get opportunities. Will look at maybe exposing more, but key focus is to also win and win well. Spoke about continuing to work with Oliver and the work hes done on and off field. Focus has been building his capacity on field and has seen the growth on a weekly basis to then hopefully have a huge off season to get him back to his best. Goes on weekly walks with Paul Guerra to discuss on where the club us at. Incredibly disappointing about the 0-5 which puts club under pressure and challenges within the club. Proud of the club that its been able to work through those challenges over the last few weeks. Found Adelaide the most challenging team we've come across this year. Was asked about Judd McVee and Bayley Fritsch. Laughed about the Bayley Fritsch rumour. Said we need forwards and hes a valuable member of the team Judd McVee is still working his way through his contract and negotiations. Said "we're hopeful Judd will sign on in the not too distant future". Didn't exactly sound all that confident. Sounded very similar to the Luke Jackson talk imo.

Where is Fritta Going?
Agree wholeheartedly

Where is Fritta Going?
Fritta is the type of player that under s good solid coaching regime with the appropriate game plan such as a Brisbane or Collingwood, could still kick over 50 goals a season.

Where is Fritta Going?
For all of Fritsch deficiencies, I would be shocked if we traded him out. With all of our forward lines woes, at least Fritta still hits the scoreboard and gets into the right spots to have scoreboard impact.

Petty can come back through the reserves. Our talls were all serviceable and May would be next in line to get a call up potentially of the expense of Lever.- Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford

Thank you mate. Whole experience was great for him and thats all that mattered whether we won or lost today.- POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne
A great day spent at the footy. My 5 year old first ever AFL game and boy did he love it! It was pretty swirly and thought we converted well considering the conditions. It was a scrappy game but when we were challenged in the 3rd quarter we rode the bump and found another gear. Besides the scrappy disposal Petracca showed some of his old bursts from stoppages. He was strong and really tried to generate a lot of forward entries. Tmac was close to BOG for me. Please dont drop him Goody.. Fritta and Rivers were good i thought. Melksham will sign a new contract, mark my words! I am hoping Tmac is the same. Langford will be a beauty! Jefferson will be fine. As I said after the Adelaide game, you just have to load him up with games and experience. Could have easily had 3 goals for the day. For a guy of his size, he certainly doesn't mind crashing the packs and bring the ball to ground. Loved JVR's game as well! Let's just leave both he and Jeffo in for the rest of the year. And Xerri is a dirty thug, enjoy your holiday you [censored]- GAMEDAY: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne
Jefferson having a good quarter- GAMEDAY: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne
Jefferson definitely crashing the packs. Competing well. Petraccas disposal is absolutely woeful. Didn't see Melksham go off? Is it serious?- GAMEDAY: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne
Taking my 5 year old to his first ever AFL game. Dont let me down Dees... Kozzie to run riot.- CASEY: Rd 16 vs Werribee
Forgot about Noah Yze. Hes definitely improved a lot in the 12 months. Hes definitely got the sticky hands and I think he's well deserved of a rookie list spot. There is something to work with on Yze and I believe coming back as a overage player for Oakleigh Chargers and doing a pre season with the Dees has really helped his development. He looked solid last night and probably unlucky not to kick 4 considering they were relatively easy shots. We could have an off season where a Yze and White join the Dees! - Goodwin on Footy Classified 15.07.2025
