TEAMS: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
I was watching replay of the Geelong game of 2018 where we lost after the siren. His ball use and creativity inside forward 50 was as good I've seen. And even his finals series that year was phenomenal. Need that form back from Melksham. 1. I honestly think we could. But for this to work it comes down to the ball carrier being smart with their ball use going inside 50. Couldn't afford to just bomb it on BB head at every opportunity. 2. That's the other counter argument. Having Melksham and Fritta neglects our pressure as both are both in keeping the ball inside our forward 50. It's my other worry as well.

I don't bet and never have. I also don't use betting forums as an indication of form. Doesn't have to be Weid. Even if they wanted to go small and bring in Melksham. Felt like our ball use up forward has been fair poor lately. As I've already stated, Melksham has frustrated me this year, but maybe we need his experience and ball use coming up to finals.

None intended. All good points you make Jaded.

To be honest since the bye, Jackson has been down in majority of those games since.

Everything you have noted in the second paragraph, has me just as confused as you are. What's even more annoying was that it's not like teams were putting work into them and limiting their output.

Interestingly I thought the GWS game he was playing too high up as well. Looking at that heat map it is obvious he's playing a much higher role, but hes numbers the past few weeks ain't great. I'm sure Burgess is all over it, but he's looked very tired the last couple of weeks. I would almost even put Rivers in the same boat as well. In my honest opinion their output has dropped off. As much as Melksham has frustrated me this year I would have brought him in for Jackson. Or if they wanted the tall still, then Weideman.

Yeah don't know how he's getting a free run. I like his work around the ground but even that has limited the past few weeks. But a McDonald or Weideman hold up well enough in the ruck. Up forward Jackson has zero influence, even to the point where we are almost playing a man down. Cannot afford to carry passengers over the next few weeks being such a crucial period for us. I'd rather give him a spell for a week or two and freshen him up for finals.

The VFL was up and running when Jack returned against the Don's.

I'm truly confused myself. Logic would say you play him in the position that made him finish 3rd in the brownlow right? Yet we prefer a plodder like Viney. If we are going to continue to [censored] fart around with him like this, then just trade him. He'd made a decent career playing in his suitable position.

Whilst it's good to see Harmes back I honestly think Vandenberg is stiff. I thought his courageous act might have kept him but obviously not. I would have easily dropped Brayshaw for Harmes and kept Vanders at half forward where Brayshaw has been shifted too. Gus has honestly given us nothing for the past month and has had 0 influence on the team. Seriously needs to pull his finger out this weekend because he's getting a free run at it with some of his insipid efforts the past few weeks. The shifting around of Brayshaw is becoming one of the more perplexing scenarios going around.

Whilst I agree yes, he was our number 1 player for pressure acts last week. Coaches love that [censored].

Luke Jackson is very very lucky..

Mac Andrew
Doesn't need to. Clubs still use a stack a footage from this year and previous years throughout their junior career. Didn't last years draft prove that? Max Holmes was drafted inside the top 20 on the back of 1 NAB League game in 2019. Raw skinny athlete who had enough athletic potential in forcing Geelong to jump the que to get him.

Seems keen to stay.

Goody on Choco & Yze
I like that. In the past some teams have had to release assistant coaches during finals when they've won a senior coaching gig. I'd rather they stay then disrupt our playing group during September.

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Hawthorn
All good and well to say we're flying if we win. We beat Port Adelaide and yet we dished up an extremely poor performance the week after? On recent form we could easily roll the Dogs and lose to GC and the Crows the week after.

I watched on the Couch last night and I too thought those stats were damning. At a time where it's so crucial to get wins now and stay top 4, it's probably the worst time also in not being in good form. Some of the good premiership teams are usually now on a good run or timing their winning streak, yet we are struggling to beat a severely undermanned 17th team in the comp. I have some genuine concerns.

Missed the sarcasm again?- Who the hell is our goal kicking coach!?
McDonald has been hit and miss this year. I'd have Salem and that's about it. I legit trust no one in our footy club. The more points then goals since Brisbane game speak for itself.- The trade Jack Viney thread
They looked at his stats. 32 disposals looks good anywhere regardless how effective they are. - Dees vs Bulldogs This Week
