  1. Sense of feeling I got from the JT interview.
  2. Well to be honest Bell isn't wrong.. He's right in saying that our entry inside forward 50 is too narrow and it doesn't play to advantage to any of the key forwards that we rolled through there. I mean we recruited a 60 plus goal a season forward to then just bomb it onto his head in a crowded forward line which is exactly the opposite to his strengths. Worries me that this will impact JVR's development with this [censored] forward structure. If this is on Geg Stafford then we simply cannot be rolling with the same forward structure moving into next year, and it immediately needs to be overhauled.
  3. Everyone is "elite" in his eyes.
  4. Have the sense of feeling after hearing Jason Taylor talk on radio that we'll go best available with pick 13. Hopefully a good slider from the top 10.
  5. Big call but Foster is the type of player that has the potential to turn into a Nick Larkey or Mitch Lewis type player at AFL level. Low picks with little fanfare in the draft but thrive in a full time professional environment.
  6. Agree. Serious chance that someone like a Harry Lemmey is there at 37. Was touted a genuine top 5 pick at the start of the year but his ratings dropped due to poor championships and form. His upside for a 200cm key forward is enormous in my opinion. Other options I like and really hoping we select is Phoenix Foster. 197cm CHF who's got huge work rate that works up and down the ground. Contested marking another of his biggest strengths. Kicked 26 goals in 11 matches for SANFL under 18's, so he is a goal kicker. Can actually swing into the ruck and use his leap to his advantage. In fact, in one game in the championships SA ruckman Harry Barnett was late withdrawal which mesnt they had to swing Foster into the ruck. It was a strong performance and i think thats whay recruiters then took notice of his versatility. This is the kind of versatility that will appeal to JT. Thoughts @ChaserJ
  7. When every single phantom draft has us selecting Matt Jefferson because key forward etc etc..
  8. Interesting. Is this based on having seen him play footy when he was younger or just based off that photo alone?
  9. I'm not sure if it's the same, but I'm pretty sure once you nominate for the draft your nomination lasts for 3 years. I'm guessing he nominated last year.
  10. After hearing Jason Taylor I didn't exactly feel that we are fully on the Jefferson band wagon. Sounds like it'll be best available for pick 13 with then attention turned to a needs pick for pick 38 which sounds like where where'll go for a potential key forward.
  11. Fox footy article. Star Oakleigh Chargers goalkicker Matt Jefferson continues to be linked to Melbourne’s first selection, however the Demons have been proactive in flagging trades with other teams over recent weeks.
  12. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/draft/afl-draft-news-2022-order-date-mattaes-phillipou-essendon-reuben-ginbey-west-coast-ed-allan-geelong-jhye-clark-hawthorn/news-story/845c26c5823a732bafc9d99c22a5be37 Foxfooty.com.au understands Melbourne’s primary motivation behind entering the draft earlier is to give itself a chance of securing Phillipou — the son of Sam Phillipou, who kicked 250 goals from 150 SANFL games for the Eagles and Magpies while also playing three AFL games for Footscray.
  13. Wardlaw and Sheezel is my pick in who we'd be trying to nab.
  14. Sydney are very interested in George and there's a good chance they may nab him at pick 15.
  15. Yarrawonga kid from where I grew up. Know Caleb and his family real well. High work rate running machine who is a rangey wingman similar to Isaac Smith. Left footer who can kick the footy fairly well when on the run, but generally uses the footy well. His running power really is what sets him apart from others and its very impressive for a kid his age that was getting huge GPS numbers. He played senior footy for Yarrawonga this year in the strong Ovens and Murray league and even played off in the grand final against a Ben Reid coached Wangaratta Magpies who are one of the powerhouse sides of the competition. I watched him on the day and he didn't get overawed by the big occasion once. He kicked a crucial goal during the match that nearly dragged Yarra over the line and even took a pretty courageous hit as well. So just shows that he's ready for senior footy in my opinion. I try to not say too much on players/kids that I know from a personal level just because of not wanting to sound too bias so I try to stay out of these kind of discussions. James Jordon being another. Obviously I'd be wrapt to have him at the dees, but with Hunter coming in and Howes and Woewodin already developing away as potential wingman then im sure he's a bigger need for us more so then a key forward perhaps. Either way, I'll be stoked for when he gets drafted either way.
  16. Based on what assumption? Didn't realise you could already come to the conclusion that EB is going to chew up a heap of development with zero facts to back this up.
  17. Slowly coming around to Jefferson the more I've thought about him in depth and the position he players and just watching his video's. My only concern is that if we were to select him, his career would pan out more as that floating 3rd tall then a key positional FF or CHF. Similar to how Jack Watts career panned when we all hoped he was going to be that traditional key forward that we lacked since Neitz retired.
  18. This is just beyond funny now..
  19. Agree. Fritter can hold his head up high as he had a fantastic year. But the criticism at the time was warranted for being selfish (the personal abuse definitely not). Far more bigger concerns then Fritta and it was more around our game plan and system. Backing Goodwin has reflected on this and will rectify over the summer.
