Wowee I did not see this coming! Tayla Harris is one of the best contested marks in the game. -
But those clubs have still lost players overtime. Good role players who would be in the same bracket as Brayshaw have gone on to other clubs while those teams have maintained their star players. I can easily names that would be equivalent to Brayshaw Buddy leaving was certainly the biggest move since plugger maybe? He got a 8 year offer? I don't think Gus is getting an 8 year offer from opposition clubs. Buddy leaving also freed up cash for Hawthorn to recruit Frawley, Lake and McEvoy who all have made significant impact in their premiership success. For what it's worth I actually want Brayshaw to say 'Demon17'. But as @Hannibal Inc. has already said, we don't want to be paying too much in retaining good role players like Gus who are easily replaceable.

Agree. What it showed though that JJ was more then capable of playing that wing role. He's ones of our most disciplined players alongside Tom Sparrow and I have no doubt Goody and Yze would like to see JJ on the outside as well.

I don't think anyone is doubting his off field work. I think you'll find most people will agree that he'll be more of a loss off field then he is on field. Footy can be a ruthless business and right now our windows of opportunity to win another flag is wide open now. Brayshaw got a significant pay rise off the back off his 2018 year playing as an inside mid. Right now he'd need to take a significant pay cut if we are wanting to fit in Jackson and Oliver. The on field discussion also comes into it. Overpaying a defensive winger is not something I want the club doing. Someone pointed out that he finished 14th in the best and fairest last year after playing every single game. Is that a sign that maybe the coaches didn't rate his on field performances as we thought? I think that's a significant way of explaining what the coaches thought of his year. Also, I think history will tell you that when you're winning flags it's hard to keep all your good players together. Sometimes you need to make tough decisions to let go of a good player just so we can maintain the star factor within the team. Losing Brayshaw would hurt indeed, but losing Clayton Oliver would be a bigger culture killer.

Langdon was incredibly lucky and so stiff not to make the All Australian squad of 40 at least. His numbers and stats showed that he was one of the best wingman going around in the game. Yes Brayshaw's performance on grand final was important, but Langdon was so consistent every game last year that opposition clubs were putting time and work into him. Langdons defensive Mark can not be underestimated. Some of his two way running was freakish. Every club in the land would easily take Langdon over Brayshaw as a wingman. It would be sad to lose him from a cultural point of view, but on field he's easily replaceable from a positional point of view imo. James Jordon for instance played purely as a winger against the Lions when Langdon was put with concussion. His heat map on the night showed how incredibly hard he worked back defensively. I thought that was a pretty underrated performance on the night and I remember thinking at the time that he filled in Langdons role seamlessly. This was to go with his 411 metres gained mind you.

AFL Commentary teams - How good is Daisy Pearce
dazzledavey36 replied to Demon17's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes I do remember this clearly. One of my missus best mates is actually close friend of Daisy and they usually come up to Bright a fair few times. I've met Daisy once and was blown away with her in depth knowledge of the game around structure and game plans. Regarding Daisy's comment, I said to my other half whwn we first watched the replay that Daisy could see where the game was going well before the other commentators. I really do hope she gets into some sort of development coaching in the men's competition whether that's with the dees or another club.- 70 replies

I think Gus has been a fantastic club person for this footy club and I've heard the term spiritual leader attached to his name from teammates etc. He's been heavily invested into the footy club, and played an enormous role in our drought breaking flag. He'll always be a demon champion in my eyes. But, it's well known there is some salary cap concerns and we still need to tie up Oliver and Jackson to long term deals. If there was to be a player that I would sacrifice to free up some salary cap. space just so we can keep a potential once in a generation players in Jackson and Oliver then I'd fully support Angus looking elsewhere. I'm also a big believer that you need to keep regenerating your list along the way when you're contending for flags. While it would be a loss from a team perspective, I see this as a great an opportunity for young players like Bailey Laurie, Blake Howes, Taj Woewodin or even Jake Bowey to push up onto a wing and own that position. Talented young players who could slot in straight away and impact with senior heads around them.
-
Yeah just realised his Russell's boy. They mention football royalty, but yet no mention of Aaron which is disappointing considering he was a far better player then Alwyn.
-
Is he a free agent? Haven't really been up to date with the latest list management stuff.
-
I'm a big believer that had both Jeff Farmer and Scott Thompson stayed I think we could have gotten close to a flag in the 2004-2006 period. Farmer was still playing some really good footy and 2006 he was still able to kick 55 goals. His best form was obviously with Melbourne, and I truly think he would have played better footy had he stayed at Melbourne. When Thompson joined Adelaide in 2005 he had a break out injury free year and kicking 27 goals as a midfielder/forward. He had just as good of a year in 2006 as well from a statistic point of view.

Was going to say Chris Heffernan and Gary Moorcroft, but they're premiership players.
-
I meant news article from last year quoting either Roffey or Pert.
-
Missed it last night due to footy training but disappointed that there was no discussion around if true. I need to find a link, but I was certain it was either Pert or Roffey last year said they would have an announcement by the end of the year with confirmation of our new home base. We're nearly 3 months into the new year and we've heard nothing.
-
Smith was on him the whole game from start to finish.
-
He's actually one of favourites players and is pretty underrated so it's disappointing to lose him. Great opportunity for Tomlinson to step straight back into that role.

Champion data is dying a slow death. By trying to stay relevant it then goes and posts this garbage.

Scott: 2021 Cats/Dees Prelim Should've Been Postponed
dazzledavey36 replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good to see Deeluded has made a come back again. Quite obvious when the bloke can barely write a paragraph that makes any sense whatsoever. I advise some just to simply ignore him or else you'll fry some brain cells. -
Agree. A pivotal recruit in the clubs history.
-
I still would without hesitation. Unfortunately draft capital and cap space is our issue.

There he is.. 👏

There's a match simulation but it won't let me upload on here. Watching the video there's an unknown playing running around wearing number 39. Anyone know who it is? Train on player?
