  1. Everyone looks good in a red and blue jumper!
  2. Everyone has a sporting talent that comes through the AFL. Thanks for pointing out the absolute obvious.... Put it this way, an athlete doesn't have to play footy for at least 3 years and gets put on a Category B list with a AFL contract because they show talent in some other sport. How easy ey? I've literally seen this first hand working with junior development teams that aspiring young footballers grow up their whole life investing time and sacrifice into getting onto a AFL list but then gets told: 1. He's good enough to be on a AFL list but has a few defiencies so unfortunately we wont draft based on that. 2. Has all the footballing talent in the world but you're bit of a ratbag at school so we wont bother. 3. You've got footballing talent but you're either too short or too skinny. My gripe is the whole Category B list is just a waste of time. In my opinion they should be forced to go down the standard process of going through the state league like the VFL, SANFL etc and earn their spot like everyone else. This is why I was a big fan of the NGA concept before the Jamarra Ugle Hagan rule came into play. Clubs put time and resources into kids starting at 10-12 years old and were still made to go through the NAB league to develop their footballing ability. Clubs could get first priority for their work that was put into these kids for all the years they had invested. @WERRIDEE also made a good point. Have we potentially just missed out on Finn Emile-Brennan (who imo is a pretty talented young footballer with elite skills and poise) who's come through our NGA system, worked his [censored] off throughout his footballing life to the point now where he's put himself under serious AFL consideration all because we're using that spot on a kid that hasn't played footy since he was 12 and has literally just walked off a basketball court? Can I also say this isn't a dig at all at young Kyah Farris-White. Fantastic opportunity for him and really hope he grabs his opportunity with both hands and will fully support him. Just simply not a fan of the system and our record with this on a club level had been poor over the years.
  3. No, I do get how the whole system works. Completely different to Category A and senior list. You sir, are just completely missing the point I'm trying to make.
  4. It's not baseless when I don't like the system in general as do most coaches you speak to involved either in the NAB league or state league that simply don't like it either 'Bob' A system with very little success.
  5. Well I can definitely say we have an interest in George and have done some thorough due diligence work as we would with a lot of players around this mark. My thought around this is a club like Melbourne would be ideal to take George because the club would have zero expectation or pressure in him needing to play next year. George could then put all his focus and attention towards his rehabilitation and come back bigger and fitter for 2024 bit like Petracca did when he was drafted. If this was the case, then in a roundabout way you're looking at 3 first round picks coming all ready to come the 2024 season.
  6. Knee injury at the start of the year just ruined his season with form. When fully fit as we saw last year he's one of the best young players going around. Courageous, tough and a gun when fit. Hopefully a fully fit Riv for 2022.
  7. Nah, not necessarily. It's a fair bit more then that mate.
  8. There are far more advanced footballers or ruckman in this instance, either in the NAB league, suburban and country leagues or state level that would be well ahead and much more developed from a footballing point of view. Getting a bit over clubs getting so sucked in by raw athletic ability over more natural footballers put there waiting for their opportunities.
  9. Underwhelming for me this year. Another who at times should have been dropped for players who were in good form at VFL level. Needs a big summer on the track.
  10. I genuinely feel sorry for blokes out there that have been playing footy since day dot, go through the system busting their absolute [censored] [censored] and yet a bloke can get plucked from a basketball court straight onto an AFL list having yet not played footy for a few years. Doesn't sit right with me.
  11. Category B 206cm ruckman. Newest Demon’s sport-swapping journey
  12. No there actually was a Richmond player called Ben Hollands who played a few games for Richmond back in 1999.
  13. Jackson had 1 hitout and 1 goal assist for the entire 3rd quarter. Again, a very overstated performance by some on here regarding him being that important link..
  14. I want him playing further up the field where he was an absolute gun as a junior. Wingman/half forward would be my pick for Bowey next year.
  15. Hang on, myself @Bring-Back-Powella few others have been quite vocal about this several times throughout the year but have been blasted by others for saying so. People only now realising this because he's in opposition colours? Some just cannot pick and choose when they want to wear their rosy red and blue glasses..
  16. Where is he playing now days, I remember he was playing in the Northern Football League years ago. If I remember correctly also, he was invited to do a pre season with the Dees under Neale Daniher one year after he was delisted.

    No
  18. What an absolute blast from the past is Temel. People use to get sucked in by his man child frame when in reality he was just another Billy Morrison.

We have the next McGovern on out list in Daniel Turner. Yes it's a big call from my end but happy to stick my head out on this. Tough ountry lad who doesn't take a backwards step with his intercept defending being his biggest strength.
  20. So has this Brett Ratten thread turned into Ross Lyon now? Honestly who cares. Close the thread. Such a irrelevant footy club.

    Meanwhile at Brisbane.. https://www.lions.com.au/news/1238402/moment-of-change-a-new-beginning-at-springfield
  22. Jordon is a much better inside midfielder then Sparrow. That's where he'll go imo.
  23. People comparing Jackson goodbye message who lets remember only spent 3 years at the footy club compared to Hunter (10 years at the doggies) and Weideman (7 years at the Dees) I think people can work out where I'm going with this.
  24. Has the skill level and poise and showed great signs in the grand final. Something to certainly work with here.
