  1. We're talking last night, not what's happened the last 2 years. It was very evident early that Jackson was struggling against Hickey. He was man handled physically and was overwhelmed. We looked more dangerous when Gawn rucked because he know, he's a 6x All Australian ruckman.. Gawn should have rucked 90% of the time after half time. Goodwin and the coaching staff were simply slow to react to this. Starting Gawn at FF in the last quarter when we were 12 points down is simply poor coaching. Get your best players right into the action at all costs.
  2. Collingwood are the real deal. They're really impressive to watch. To think we were so close to snaring Jamie Elliot at the end of 2019 .. 😭😭
  3. I hadnt really noticed until someone had made mention of this a few weeks back. His delivery inside 50 is horrible.
  4. Winner out of Brisbane and Carlton.
  5. The issue is our stars didn't dominate last night.
  6. I think this comes down to the players decision. Petracca would have just told them it was a cork and he'd be fine to run it out. We've had so many instances this year which has baffled me with the way we've managed some of our injuries.
  7. Seeing a number of our players play with heavily bandaged knees was a concern for me at the start of the night. And these same blokes looked poppy all night and barely had any impact start different to Sydney who looked fit and fresh. I mean, we have fit and fresh guys ready to go.. why not use them?
  8. It's not just that. Look at Collingwood, they play such a exciting brand of footy and a small part has been the enthusiasm and energy some of their young kids have brought to the team. Collingwood have had 6 debutants this year, we've had 1 who lasted for 2 quarters. Seeing the like of Nick Daicos and Ash Johnson and what they've added to Collingwood has been enormous. I see the doggies brought in Sam Darcy the last 3 weeks into the senior team and watched him make a sudden impact down back and then up forward against Hawthorn when he was clucking some big contested marks. He's given the dogs a whole different mix to their line up and teams have had to now put time into him. Even Chris Fagan having the balls to play a first gamer in Darcy Willmot on Friday night against a 3 time premiership team. Young Willmot looked right at home and even showed great composure to kick his first AFL. Goody has had no innovation this year in changing our team selection. He plays it far too safe and it's bland and boring. It's no wonder we have looked so stagnated this year. Goodwins stubbornness has gotten the better of him this year.
  9. Yeah look I understand your point. Jackson up forward Is a liability. Has no natural forward instinct nor does he take any contested marks or ever look threatening. Him up taking up a spot in our forward line has stifled our ability to play more natural forwards in Weideman and Jacov Van Rooyen this year.
  10. Jesus surely we're doing everything in a power in chasing McKay.. And I agree with you, forget Grundy.
  11. Me and @Gorgoroth have banging on about this like a broken record since the 2nd half of the year. Goody's refusal to reward blokes in the 2's had been the biggest frustration and disappointment of this year. Seeing guys like Chandler, JVR, Laurie, Baker and Dunstan continue to put in consistent form at VFL level for little to zero reward is disappointing. To stay contending for the next few years you have to find ways to regenerate your list and team structure along the way. Find and trial players that can come into the team and add a different element or X factor to give us a different look. Look at the enthusiasm Bowey added to our team last year We've tried absolutely nothing new this year with team selection and Goody's stubbornness in continuing to play the same names over and over who have been out of form has been a big concern.
  12. This was one of the most bizarre coaching of the night. We've had the best ruckman in the game just gather his 6th AA as a ruckman and bloody Goody finds it fit to start him at FF. Goody and the coaches were incredibly sloe to react to this. You can tell Jackson was getting overwhelmed by Hickey but yet we stuck with this same plan going into the last quarter. Knew then and there we were gone when Gawn started FF in the last quarter.
  13. If we are bringing in Grundy as reported for the sole purpose of Gawn being able to spend more time up forward then we're making a big mistake imo. The Gawn experiment up forward simply has to cease and accept that he's not a natural forward and it completely throws our structure out of wack. Let me remind that since the Sydney game back in round 12 Gawn has kicked only 2 goals. That's right, 2 goals playing more predominantly up forward and having no influence whatsoever. Watching Hickey completely dismantle both Gawn and Jackson shows you don't need to break the bank for a star ruckman.
  14. Agree. The WC and North game was an opportunity to just rest some blokes and reward some players along the way. As you say, Goody and coaching staff been far too loyal to the likes of Sparrow, ANB and Spargo to some degree who all have been average and underwhelming this year but yet continue to get rewarded for mediocrity. Clubs have worked out our system easily because we have barely changed our team structure to keep teams second guessing.
  15. Disagree with the first 3 paragraphs. Agree with the last point.
  16. We've had 1 debutant this year. Let that sink in.
  17. I still hope Jacko stays, but his mind seems elsewhere tonight.
  18. It would be greatness if he could nail a set shot.
  19. Unfortunately that was by far his poorest game for the year. Everytime he was in the ruck he was physically beaten by Hickey fairly easily which resulted in Sydney just winning the easy clearence.
  20. 78k. Sydney seemed far more loud unfortunately. The boos for Harmes was pretty evident while there was crickets for Franklin from our end..
  21. Sometimes what might work one year won't exactly replicate the following year. I honestly think that we've become hunted all year physically and teams are putting so much work into us that I just think it's caught up to us from a mental and physical perspective. A decent break over the summer and recharging the batteries will do us good.
  22. Forget the changes. We'll go in unchanged. Goody has shown this year that time and time again he'll barely make any changes to the team regardless of the result. We've had opportunities to bring in guys like JVR, Chandler etc to just try to mix it up bit and change up our forward half structure, but nope.. too late for that now unfortunately. Even if it meant resting a few blokes here and there just to have them cherry ripe for September. We just looked so banged up out there tonight.. We've had a Casey team go 17-1 this year and yet we've refused to reward some of those key contributors which has been disappointing. A
