  7. Gawn - the perfect performance Oliver - prolific, not outstanding McDonald - confidence is everything Salem - was almost outstanding Petracca - lively and important Pickett - consistently a threat Jackson - perfect Gawn foil Lever - deserving of riches Langdon - not as prolific Rivers - wise headed junior Hibberd - gradually got better Viney - a team player Brayshaw - growing into role Tomlinson - persistent and safe Brown - important ten minutes Jordon - needs a rest Melksham - did just enough Neal- Bullen - our junkyard dog Hunt - reinvented himself impressively Spargo - had limited involvement Petty - improving until injured Jones - limping to milestone
  8. Jake Lever’s performance reminded me of the late, great Sean Wight, with his anticipation and athletic attack.
  9. Gawn - the momentum facilitator Petracca - elite and relentless Oliver - dynamic all game Viney - tackling machine returns Langdon - reliable and indefatigable McDonald - enjoyed the conditions Fritsch - always a threat Pickett - continues to excite Salem - all Australian form Spargo - an intelligent footballer Lever - regularly repelled effectively Brayshaw - effective team game Hunt - pace an asset Neal-Bullen - holding his spot Jones - experience was vital Melksham - a quiet return Sparrow - was rarely noticed Jackson - steadily becoming vital Rivers - loose but important Jordon - little to commend Jetta - didn’t imbue confidence May - hopefully back soon Tomlinson - rose to occasion
  10. Gawn - best on ground Langdon - reliable and untiring Petracca - good, not outstanding Viney - important contact player Lever - was mostly effective Hunt - career best game Brayshaw- regularly went missing Salem - continued outstanding season Oliver - better second half Jordon - good in close Pickett - genius at work Tomlinson - comfortable in defense Rivers - reliable and composed Jackson - continued upward spiral Neal- Bullen - limited but useful May - uncomfortable against midgets Fritsch - some limited cameos Spargo - effective in patches McDonald - disappointing and limited Jones - just did enough Sparrow - was hardly noticed Jetta - poor decision making
  11. Gawn - a dominant game Oliver - an elite performance Petracca - outstanding second half Salem - career best game Langdon - great first half Neal-Bullen - important negating game May - polished and inspiring McDonald - provided strong presence Hunt - was used well Tomlinson - reliable and efficient Pickett - exciting forward presence Rivers - great first half Spargo - limited but effective Viney - great first quarter Sparrow - effective holding game Jones - justified his selection Fritsch - had limited impact Jackson - an almost performance Brayshaw - rarely imbued confidence Jetta - experience proved valuable Lever - was mostly reliable Jordan - was rarely noticed
  12. Gawn - surprisingly didn’t dominate McDonald - a consistent target Oliver - prolific, sometimes wasteful Langdon - seemingly without passion May - thank God 1 Lever - thank God 2 Petracca - skills slightly off Harmes - plenty of grunt Jordan - impressive first half Brayshaw - needed the run Spargo - some important touches Tomlinson - steady and reliable Salem - excellent first half Fritsch - only some cameos Sparrow - was rarely sighted Jones - played his part Neal-Bullen - just a game Pickett - always looked dangerous Jackson - will be better Rivers - was rarely noticed Hunt - was rarely noticed Jetta - some important interceptions
  13. At the end of the day we need our best players on the field for at least 75% of the season because our depth is obviously limited . i can’t understand why we’re so maligned this week because an incredibly undermanned team beat the Premiership favourire 2 weeks ago and competed effectively for half a game against one of the Premiership favourites with an almost complete team last weekend. Our weakness is our team depth, no more, no less. It is crap to blame ooor football skills on culture, or even the coach.
  14. Not an acceptable excuse under any circumstances ,but the feeling at the ground from the outset was the players weren’t up for the contest. I think the attitude was established and the game was lost at the selection table. Ultimately the Bulldogs came to play and we came to survive until the missing players on our list returned
  15. I have a number of Demons’ stickers on my vehicle so there’s no dilemma as to which team I support. A few years ago I was stopped at a traffic light and the female driver of the car next to me gesticulated to wind my passenger side window down. As I was doing so, the rear window of the woman’s car was also wound down and none other than the great RDB appeared and clenched his fist as he bellowed out to me ‘GO DEES’ . It was a cherished moment, until I had the honour, along with my kids, to pose for a number of photos with the great man that would appear in the HeraldSun on the weekend just prior to our 2018 finals campaign. Eternal memories
  16. I don’t want to put a dampener on things but GWS may gazump our plans and sign Daw ahead of us now that they’re in dire need of a fit ruckman
  17. Absolutely NOTHING to lose by offering MD a chance!
  18. On SEN, Lewis made the comment that Kossie was comparable to Cyril at the same age ?
  19. Just an interesting little aside from TMac’s manager Alex McDonald tonight, who said Tom had already lost 4kg in an attempt to regain his mobility and power running ability
  20. To paraphrase Jerry McGuire , he’ll complete us
  21. Get him!!! His signing WILL make the difference
  22. TMac’s inevitable departure smacks of the same supporters’ sentiments as those expressed with Jack Watts’ removal.
  23. On SEN about an hour ago: The original offer for Viney was too low for the player and the counter offer to the club was too high. Subsequent negotiations have arrived at an acceptable figure for both parties but they are waiting on cap sizes to be ratified by the AFL. in further news Isaac Smith has expressed strong interest in the Dees’ offer and is weighing up his options
  24. Body language of Viney from the B&F suggests to me that his heart’s not with the club.
  25. Baker - eventually showed promise Bedford - failed to impress Bennell - probably blown it Brayshaw - seemingly without commitment Brown - deserves contract extension Fritsch - important despite innacuracy Gawn - consistently high standards Hannan - inconsistency was consistent Harmes - a poor year Hibberd - outstanding when fit Hunt - position a dilemma Jackson - cause for excitement Jetta - definitely fallen away Jones - bow out gracefully Langdon - year’s best recruit Lever - regularly justified salary Lockhart - courageous but limited May - an outstanding season O. McDonald - has many limitations T. McDonald - was obviously encumbered Melksham - rarely stood out Neal-Bullen - mostly a plodder Oliver - performed as expected Petracca - joined the elite Pickett - exciting but limited Preuss - unlikely displayed enough Rivers - very impressive debut Salem - reliable and consistent Smith - tried but lacking Spargo - needs more involvement Sparrow - promising , needs development Tomlinson - improved towards end vandenBerg - tough but limited Viney - prolific but wasteful J.Wagner - played little part Weideman - a major disappointment
