POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
MELBOURE FOOTBALL CLUB ARE PREMIERS. That's all that needs to be said. Too all my fellow Dees, enjoy it all, you deserve it.

Vale Greg Parke
Sad to see this news, on today of all days. Very good forward. One of the finest marks on his era. The only part of his game which was a bit iffy was his kicking, otherwise he would have been a superstar. A shining light in an otherwise pretty dark period. RIP Greg

Absent Friends
Yes to Dan and Mark Tracey. With whom I went to the MCG as a boy. Thinking of you today! Hopefully weāll bring the Cup home today.

What would a premiership mean to you?
It would at stroke wipe out the pain experienced over the last 50 years. There are many but a few personal stand outs: 1 1987 Preliminary Final 2 round 1 v Collingwood 1983 3 Round 1 v Collingwood 1984 4 Round 21 v Collingwood 2017 5 Round 6 or thereabouts v Nth Melbourne 1985, lost by a point.

Sam Weideman re-signs until 2023
Very pleased about this. Shows the strength of the Club. Sam is still only 24 - he can make it.

London Demons
Nice! As I said I'm in Highgate, ie north London. Trying to think of somewhere semi-public where I can hang my Demon scarf. Probably I'll not come with anything more innovative than the front fence. It'll probably get stolen, but I have a second one, and hell the risk of losing the first would be outweighed by the buzz I'd get seeing the red and blue colours hanging out on a a street in London..... May the Dees be with you...

London Demons
I live in Highgate north London, and have a couple of times over the last few weeks worn the red and blue scarf on the tube on the way to and from work. Hoping someone would notice ! No one yet! Iāll watch the GF at home ā¦.

Thanks Jonesy - Retirement
Put simply he held us together on field when we were on the brink. In a very real sense Nathan Jones saved the MFC when its survival was in doubt. He belongs with the immortals of this Club.

Jack Watts Interview
I found this interview moving. Yes he made some mistakes but the principal fault was with the club, no question about that. His was a huge talent, and if he had been better taken care of in the first few years he would have got a bit closer than he did to fulfilling it. Some parts of this is sad but Jack is clearly is an ok space now and Iām sure it helped him to get some of the past off his chest . If he was in the system at the club now Iāve now doubt he would be a real star. As it was he played c 130 games with us , many good ones, was loyal, loved the Dees, And clearly still does despite the hurt. I hope he will stay in touch with the Club, and if and when he does come back in whatever capacity that he is given the welcome and respect he so deserves.

How young were you when Barass last raised the cup?
6 YO. The memory is gone, if it was ever there. The first thing I remember is MFC sliding down the ladder on 1965.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAKE BOWEY
This guy is a serious find. Skilled, very good, a precise, penetrating kick (very good length for his size), good overhead. Just classy in general. And very quick - in reaction time by hand, and by foot over the ground. Given that speed the small stature not such liability. He's light now, but he'll thicken out with a couple more pre-season. So another to add to Jordon, Jackson, Pickett, Rivers, Petty. A rich vein.

Itās time to say itā¦
I started following the Dees in 1965 as a 7 yo. So I have probably suffered more than most of you. No need to say more. So what is happening now is so sweet. āSatisfyingā is hardly adequate ...but it will do. And what is the most satisfying is dishing it out to clubs that have sneered at us for decades. They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Well we will over the next 3 or 4 years eating out on that big time. This is by a street the best MFC team since 1964. Probably before then altho obviously thatās just speculating. This team has a rare balance of tall and short, strength and pace, wily experience and youthful enthusiasm, heavy physical pressure down back and quick razor sharp forward entry ability. But the main thing is we are playing as a team. Everybody (including, note all please, regular Demonland whipping boys Melksham and Weed) is buying in, supporting the cause.

Farewell Sam Weideman
Anyway he is part of a forward set up which is kicking winning scores. You donāt change winning teams unless there is a very good reason. There aināt here.

Farewell Sam Weideman
Re the last post exactly. As I said KP forwards take years.
-
Farewell Sam Weideman
I havenāt read the posts on this thread but donāt need to. They will be Weeds no good, heās had his chance, , drop him, he doesnāt do forward 50 pressure etc etc. My simple contribution is: keep playing him. He is a KP forward. They take years to mature. He did enough today - flying for the ball (which he always does full tilt), providing a contest, a few handballs out, good running into space - to earn his keep. Repeat keep playing him. One day the marks he is getting to will stick. And then will see the potential bloom. For Godās sake we do not want to see him doing that anywhere but at our club.

Welcome to Demonland: Trent Rivers
My goodness we have a good one here, this guy has it. If he stays fit, adds a bit more upper body weight (not much just a bit more holding power) he will be a star.

8 point games
Absolutely. Think of the years of humiliation. We have achieved nothing yet. The moment we start assuming things, get ahead of ourselves, think beyond the game in front of us, we are dead.

Time to have a talk about Jayden
Of course we bāāāy well keep him!!

Time to have a talk about Jayden
I noticed his general lack of enthusiasm post game too. So maybe he wants out anyway. Reading this thread I see Iām in a minority in wanting to keep him. I hope you are all right. I fear youāre not but weāll see.

Time to have a talk about Jayden
Yes in early 2018 he lost a bit of form , but that can happen to anyone. He was dropped and things have gone awry since. Look heās a natural line breaker, weāve got no-one like that. Someone like Harmes or Hore are maybe āsaferā at half back in a sense but give no forward drive, momentum or penetration at all. A team is a team , made up of people with different attributes who together work as one. In my view Hunt at his best is a player who should be in our best 22. It would be pretty heartbreaking to see him do well at another club. I fear thatās what would happen if we let him go.

Time to have a talk about Jayden
He has been played out of position since 2018. Heās a dashing back player, period. Not a forward or midfielder. He has loads of natural talent but itās been blunted by over coaching . He should just be told to get out there and play with that dare and dash, the attack on the ball, which was so exiting when he first broke in around 2016. If he is let go I for one would be very very disappointed.
