Sydney need outside speed more than anyone. He will be a serviceable player at the Saints but he won’t be the difference between them winning and losing games.

The saints have recruited 1 good player in Hill. Ryder is finished Howard is a poor mans Sam Frost. Jones is a hack Butler is a very average AFL player They also lost their best forward in Bruce.

Not fussed with the result but some very good signs with Trac, Lever, TMac, Oliver being Oliver, Jones up forward, Pickett (small glimpses), Jackson (didn’t do much but his spring in the ruck was very exciting) and lastly the fitness to really run out the game.

So what makes it work and what doesn’t? Do you really think the swans won flags because they had co-captains? Or Richmond won flags because they had 1 captain? It’s what works for the team. Viney maybe the best leader at the club but doesn’t perform that well in front of the media, so a co-captain who is able to lead on field and handles this media side makes sense. The captains role is not just about performing on field or leading but incorporates selling the club, talking to sponsors, coterie groups etc.

Not sure that is correct. 5 weeks before the season starts, so he is only missing the first few games of the year.
