Trengove would have got most of his disposals by HT. Looked good.
-
Trengove a clear BOG at HT with leather poisoning and 2 goals. Moving well and looks fit. Plenty of tackles and marks and lovely kicking. The bull has also had a few nice touches.
-
And Trenners kicks his first goal in 2 years !!

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 2, 2016
Gator replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons

In which case I probably won't go. If it can be definitively clarified, i.e. 2 or 3pm, it would be great.

I can't get to the G today, but can get to Casey around 3pm. Think I might pop along.

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 2, 2016
Gator replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ever heard of the phenomenon known as "whingeing Pom" ? -
Notwithstanding Bob's excellent summation, I'm going to use more of a mathematical equation. We averaged 44.5 inside 50's last year, but have shown a vast improvement in this area over summer and round 1. On the back of 56 entries last week I'm expecting 60+ this afternoon. Jesse averaged a tick over 3 shots at goal last year from 44.5 i50's, so I'm expecting between 5 and 6 shots at goal tomorrow. After implementing all relevant data I can tell you that he will kick 4 or 5 goals depending on accuracy. This all assumes that there aren't any special circumstances that contribute to an abnormal result. Jesse will kick either 4.2 or 5.1.

I reckon we can win one in 2020 - 4 years/5 seasons.

Jeez I hate it when people trot out this rubbish.

Watts wants to stay but will explore free agency.
Gator replied to Bombay Airconditioning's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not sure what is so hard to understand. Imo, every one of his last 4 games (including the 3 NAB games) have met the minimum standard. They've all had the prerequisite effort and the performances have followed. I must be talking Swahili. -

I'm more referring to effort in contests (ground and air). Performance follows effort. The efforts he's shown in 2016 have superceded anything previously (7 years). Beyond dispute I would have thought. And a minimum requirement henceforth. -
Best bit of news I've heard all day.

So you're going to evaluate output based on arbitrary evaluations like an AFL team of the week ? Interesting. -

Apparently Roos can laud his improved contested work and say he took a "significant step forward", but supporters aren't allowed such observations. -

Do you think he put his body on the line ? Do you think he played with intensity ? Do you think he worked hard enough ? Do you think he had a crack ? Do you think he competed at acceptable levels ? Give up watching footy, Stu. -

He didn't "carry the forward-line". He played a very good game. He also played 3 good games in the NAB challenge. That's 4 good games in a row. It's what I expect as a minimum requirement every week. It's what he expects, it's what his coaches expect, it's what his teammates expect, it's what I expect. He won't be able to impact games of footy every week like he did against GWS, but I expect that level of effort and intensity every week. And if he brings it every week he'll often impact games like he did on Saturday. Why do I need to clarify the bleeding obvious ? -

All early picks are gifted games, because it's the only way they'll develop. Pick 60 earns a game and pick 5 might get some before they're warranted. Most of us realised long ago that he'll never be the player we envisaged and hoped for, but if he plays every game as he did in round one I'll be delighted, because it's a new level and one I wasn't expecting. He's certainly not being gifted games now. That said, I probably differ with some in that his current output is a minimum requirement. Others seem to be doing cartwheels. I suppose that comes with 8 years of disappointment. -
You'll note that I said top 10 picks/bid. Adelaide bid pick 7 for Viney, which unquestionably makes him a top 10 draft pick from a value perspective.

Who's our best chance to win the Rising Star in 2016?
Gator replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Petracca plays the last 16 games he wins. -

Pre-season he would have been worried about being offered a contract. He's had a great summer and start to the year. He can't afford to drop off. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
Gator replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
The knocks on Kennedy were his tank, kicking and decision making. He's obviously worked hard on all three. If he keeps playing like he has been he's a very important cog in the side. If he drops off he'll be one of the first omitted. -
You're a drongo, Stu.
