They will this year, with Lumumba, Toumpas and Salem all looking good off half back, Jack Grimes knows he has a battle on his hands, and that's not counting Viv Michie looking really good there in the match sim last week as well Jordie is one of about 10 midfielders fighting for a spot That is why for a change the NAB Cup will be good for us this year, not having to cobble a team together to play, we should have about 34-36 training again tomorrow -

You really think with the competition for spots we won't have all 22 playing out of their skins in Rd 1, yes we may get an injury, but you wouldn't bring Dawes in if say Jetta had a poor game or got injured edit for poor English, got too much would -

All coaches at the club would be acutely aware of this and the importance of having him in our side regardless of how many 'double-grabs' he has etc. He will be straight back into our side in Round 2. So if Cam Pedersen replaces him in the side, and does exactly what is asked of him, including kicking a goal or two, you will still bring Dawes back in, this will send a great message to the rest of the players abut earning your spot -

I agree, if Dawes regains his spot from somebody who has performed their role really well, it will send the wrong message to the rest of the team, it is his own fault he is sitting out Rd 1 -

I would disagree slightly with you, Pedo's workrate is equal if not better than Dawes, don't forget Hogan is not a lock either, Roos wants him to show he should be in the team -

Brayshaw told me what he weighed, the players find the stats listed by AFL/Club etc amusing Tyson is about 85k now I think I recall him telling me The reason Byrnes wanted to play was besides thinking he could still offer something on the field, is he is looking forward to playing alongside the young talent we have and the Casey players who he rates as good VFL players I asked Pedo if he cracks the forward spot in Round 1, would he just step aside and let Dawes back in for Round 2, the answer is no -
West Coast Sniffing around Dean Kent
The Devil Inside replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree with that, had been told/heard exactly the same, Stef Martin had a good year after a full pre season, backing it up is the test of a good player But let's move on and not derail the thread, Demonland is on the improve I want reports of other clubs sniffing around, it means we have good footy players -

Sorry I stopped reading your posts, but thought I needed to answer this one. Yes I will ask him all the same, have a good rapport with him see what I get, might tell me to get stuffed, Had a really good chat to both Trengove and Howe about moves to Richmond and GWS and got really good answers, same with Chip Frawely, I honestly believed he hadn''t made up his mind and then after speaking to him after season was over was convinced he was going to Freo till Hawthorn stepped in at last minute As I have said previously the players will discuss anything as long as you ask in a respectful way, some times they ask me not to publicise which I don't -
No it's not Vandenberg was coming up against some serious young midfield talent from GWS, Gold Coast, Swans and Lions

Personally I don't think we will see the young guys in Rd 1 unless one of them is exceptional during the NAB Cup, think they will be made to earn their spots at Casey and then maybe a sub spot -

He is 84kg, thin?....they expect him to play around 85-88 just putting his head in wrong place at the moment JkH used to laugh at that, he was about 72 or so which isn't much bigger, but he is a solid little bugger up top -

Good post Nasher, I get bored writing about the specific drills, prefer to put any info I can glean from coaches or players, if I think any of the reports are not truly reflecting a players contribution though, will put my opinion of said players contribution. Another example where opinions are similar being Viney, I personally think he has been ordinary for most of the pre season, but put in his best shift on Friday, so made sure I put it -

From Ben Mathews and a few of the players, Brayshaw is a bit like Viney, wants to impress so is attacking the ball and the man, just needs to learn to protect his head a bit better, like Viney -
Watts won't feature against Freo Agree with Bail, he has not put a foot wrong in pre season, his place to lose in the 22 like Matt Jones

That was direct from Chris Salem himself, happened in a tussle with Brayshaw, he got a knock to the calf and Brayshaw's head hit the ground or Salem's shoulder, both immediately pulled out of the match sim -

Nev pulled out of the match sim towards the end, so something shook him up, there were a few whacks going on throughout the whole thing, MIchie didn't miss JKH near me with a whack across the chest Because we are only a week away from selecting the team for the first NAB Cup game, competition for spots, gotta love it -

He went over on his ankle again at one point during the match sim, think that shook him up a bit, was ok, I asked him, thought he was just back with the timing of spoils etc -

Only because I think sometimes I am not critical enough and some posters are too critical, hence why I ask both the players and the coaches, that way on Demonland we get input from everybody, which can only be a good thing -

Totally agree, the training threads are getting good now, we have varying reports and opinions, which you can either agree or disagree with, I will only reiterate for the glass half empty posters and readers that Ben Mathews told me it was a good quality session, I ask him once a week to make sure I am not seeing it through rose coloured glasses In the match sim I thought Tyson actually stood out today as did Viney in the midfield along with Nathan Jones and Col Garland -

Yes but it is an opinion, I thought he did ok today, Jamar is the first ruck and we seem to be concentrating on getting Gawn as a forward, so as a backup ruckman today Spencer did ok, every player makes mistakes Agreed, they need to commit and go and forward if that option is there, said a similar thing in another topic the other day -

Yes, Ben Mathews told me a session before Xmas was very ordinary, that's why I ask his opinion, and the coaches know I post here so they will answer and allow me to post their reply I haven't got emotional attachments, I will point out where players are pulled up for doing something wrong no matter who the player is, eg Tyson, I just found your opinion of Newton today bizarre to say the least, but you are entitled to it -

Just posted a pic on Twitter of a stoppage that will make the Viney lovers all moist, he was good today, must have read my post about the banner haha Spoke to Pedo today, he has finally got his body were it is supposed to be, took a while with the diet, trimmed down a bit, loving the competition for forward spots
