Training - Monday 23rd February, 2015
The Devil Inside replied to The Devil Inside's topic in Melbourne Demons
No idea OD, they are doing something different on Wednesday, today they had some match sim as the last drill anyway, most training is all about ball movement now -
I was there again, how tragic Only no show was Trengove, I think, Max King made a brief appearance and went inside to siwm, said he was off legs today, the Hammy Twins Vince and Howe ran laps, so did Neal Bullen, all said they are tracking as they should be, no timeframe on return as yet Gus Brayshaw didn't do much, said he didn't shine in the concussion test after the two knocks, he said both Viney and Tommy Mc got him in the praccy match, so has been given a light week, said he would be lucky to pass some of the tests unconcussed. Petracca was out there, handballing, coaching, encouraging, helping to get the padding down from around the goalposts at the end (I kid you not) Emphasis was on ball movement again, standouts today Tyson, Pedersen, Stretch, Bail Roos had one explosion, lack of support when Nathan Jones got a clearance New nickname for those that like them, Harmes is now Nut, both he and Vandenberg trained with the forwards Salem did a bit more one on one work at the end From Jade Rawlings, the time and location of the Intraclub was part of the program schedule, had been for a while Another interesting bit, JKH played as an inside mid for the Indigenous All Stars, said he enjoyed every minute of it, because of the lack of height in the IAS, they tried to read Eagles ruck taps, said he learned a lot Nev Jetta suitably modest about being in the best, said he was just doing his job, played on both Wellingham and Gaff Any questions feel free, pics will be on Twitter Demonpk soon

In your opinion, others have different opinions, some of your reasoning in my opinion is flawed
-
You will find that if I put something, I will ask permission to quote who told me, the signage around Goschs was from PJ, lot of the injuries are direct from the player or Misson, I will attempt to ask about the timing and will attribute if allowed to, although I personally think it all revolved around the training program timings and the availability of the 10 Casey players
-
Seconded
-
HH, you write some really good stuff, but you have let yourself down badly there, Vandenberg, Watts and Hunt are all ready to go, but they are being held back to ensure that there are no issues going forward, same with Howie who is being monitored on a day to day basis. Bernie Vince was just unlucky
-
That has just made me laugh out loud in public, he was really good in the praccy game
-
TK, blood from a stone is the phrase that springs to mind when trying to get MFC supporters to accept that premise
-
Just a couple of points Re Fitzpatrick, if he averages more than a goal a game, how does this cost us a game? If you are going to criticise a player, get the name right, I am sure Dean Terlich would appreciate that, he is not nervous by the way, looking forward to the challenge of getting into 22 and playing well enough to stay there The highlighted assume you are referring to when Nathan Jones fluffed a kick in the praccy game, that nearly cost a goal?

Firstly let me say that even I found the lack of membership/merchandise etc strange, given the commitment PJ had made at the AGM, I couldn't ask why on the day, so I could put why on here , but I will try and ascertain why, I don't think for one moment though that it is the most important thing from the day itself, just something that needs clarifying, similar to the lack of signage. sponsorship around Goschs which I got an answer to I am sure there were valid reasons why and not a fail/stuff up as pronounced on here, the only slightly off putting thing again I found was that it was the normal minority who whinge about everything who started the debate on the lack, rather than focussing on the actual game If the lack of membership/merchandise is actually more important to them than what actually occurred on the field, I think their priorities are slightly askew I also find it rather strange that the same that whinge about not being able to go the a praccy match because of the time, are some of the same who won't go to Etihad to watch a 'real' game
-
I agree with that bit, wasn't sure why there was nothing, was going to ask but only admin staff there were media. I understand that there is going to more emphasis on the match day experience so assume we are saving the budget for that, and probably the Family Day which attracts more and more each year I don't defend, but with talking to a lot of people involved in all facets of the Club, I have a bit better understanding of situations, just
-
Well obviously not you, but I enjoyed attending it along with a couple of hundred others Just a point on being employed, I can attend training this year because as I was made redundant, but previously I used to juggle my RDO or in lieu leave so I could attend as well, including practice games, I suppose it depends on your priorities and how tragic you are, I don't mind being tragic All in all it was just a practice game, and going on that point, I wonder how many supporters will actually go to Etihad to watch us play Essendon 3rds if it happens, if they are that desperate to see MFC play
-
That is the point I am making, you either want professionalism or not, obviously the time chosen suited the footy dept, end of debate. The membership if ticking along and is on par from last year, if we string wins together, the so called disgruntled supporers will soon be back on the bandwagon I bought my membership last September so I am ok edit Club has just tweeted they have a stand set up at the Berwick show, so a few more memberships hopefully
-
So anybody would do, like an 18 yr old from the development squad?....how do know all would be available? The fitness program, it is tightly controlled now, try speaking to the players you will find out how controlled, they all have individual daily and weekly loads There was quite a healthy crowd at Casey, and not all grey beards like myself I just find it contradictory when on the one hand you, amongst others, continually criticise the professionalism of the club, and then criticise when they hold a praccy game at a certain time, it was held then because obviously it was the best time for the players and staff, who are the most important in the whole scheme of things. If this helps towards winning a few early games, that will help the membership and merchandising no end

Talking Point: Intraclub Practice Matches
The Devil Inside replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was going to write something George but you have covered everything I was going to say, the only other thing I would add was because Salem took most of the pundits, Billy Stretch stepped into it with ease, was pleasantly surprised by what I saw -
So we had to organise 10 Casey players to top up the numbers to make the exercise worthwhile, when were they all available? Misson and Roos are working to a timetable to have as many players fit and firing for Rd 1, when is the best time to play a praccy match to fit in with the program? There are severe parking issues at Goschs, especially at the weekend, for anybody that wants to watch, do we take this into consideration as well? Family Day generates memberships and merchandise sales, MFC is only one that has it at Luna Park to cater for all the families

He doesn't think so, he told me last week, that is why he is doing all the extra work, reckons he is nowhere near strong enough to compete with the 'mature' footy players he may come up against, but is working on it No that's how quick he is, I would rate him alongside Matt Jones for speed, had a chat to him when they finished, can't wait to get the all clear from the shoulder injury so he can get a crack at the NAB cup hopefully, he is my smokey for this year now I have seen him
-
It was a bit hard with the match ups because of the 10 Casey players, Dunn would always mark the resting ruckman if there was one and Pedersen would do the same, Tommy Mc spent a lot of the game on his brother who was played forward (I think some got over excited and confused Oscar with Frost as well), Garlett was up and down the ground and was a difficult match up, he put himself in some throw in stoppages as well I called Terlich's game as I saw it, besides which he didn't miss a kick yesterday, although some will swear he did, same as Matty jones, only clanger from the maligned was one from Grimes, and Nathan Jones told him he was too slow to kick it, which he took on board, and McKenzie who took the wrong option once, but Nathan Jones fluffed a kick as well as did Viney
-
Correct, every time they went into attack, you would find Garlett buzzing around the feet of Dawes and Hogan, just for a note, JKH picks both Nev Jetta's and Jeff Garlett's brains as much as he can, I expect him to be alongside Jeffy in Rd 1 There is also a pic of a ruck duel from a throw in I got on my Twitter, see who is free on the outside, he is going to be a difficult matchup
