What’s In a Name? - a Comprehensive List of Player Nicknames
Matthew Jefferson is also nicknamed 'the magician'. Tom Fullarton's nickname at the Lions was 'fullcream' however I have no confirmation that it has carried over to the dees .

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
As I sat in the members I reflected on two of the moves made off-season. Harmsey going to the dogs and Jibba joining the dees. The emotion of losing a premiership player was hard to swallow, but the move was right for both parties. Billings was almost written off, and a bit of a risk for the dees. Today's game showed the FD's vision, and if Billings can maintain form and fitness he may be the recruit of the year.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 11
Assuming picks stay as they are, and Curtain fell to us at our first pick, would WC offer a future first round pick for him and would we take it? WC will be bottom 4 next year you would think.

Dees Salary Cap Dump
Does anyone know if contracts can be restructured after signing to be front ended? If we don't make a move this year for a player, we have dead cap space that is not being utilised in 2024. Could existing deals be reworked to fill in the cap void in 2024 to free up space the following year(s)?

Lochie O’Brien
I'll back JT to find us a better option at the back end of the draft. O'Brien might find a home, but odds are against him carving out a permanent role anywhere.

Farewell James Harmes
One of my modern favorites. I can only wish him all the best at the kennel. He'll always be a demon in my eyes.

TMac & Brown
I'll always love these two players for winning us a flag. RE: list management, both contracts were educated decisions. If tmac and brown don't get hurt in 2022, we could have won that flag. If they were fit and firing for this year, we could have won it . Injuries are a part of the game, and we have been extremely unlucky inside forward 50. Sadly I agree with most posters that these two guys probably aren't going to contribute in 2024, the injuries have taken a toll. They won't retire, and will be a part of the 2024 season. I can't see either player making a comeback and dominating, but they may feature again in the 1s as depth selections.

Michael Hibberd Hanging Up the Boots
He came to us when many other players spurned our advances, and was rewarded with a premiership for his faith! Not only could he see the vision Melbourne had, he was an instrumental part in making it come to fruition. Thank you Hibbo!

I feel like the sun's are going to have a tough time getting the "right price" for a top 10 pick after giving away a top 10 pick in Bowes and a first rounder for a half eaten dim sim last year. I'd the suns hold him another year and he doesn't crack the team, he's going to cost as almost nothing at the trade table. He could be on the move for less than the right price.

Darcy Parish
I'd put my faith in the football department drafting a quality mid rather than forking out for Parish.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I recall all the negative media about Melbourne over paying for him at the trade table. Here we are 100 games later with a premiership defender and potential future captain.

NON-MFC: Rd 22 2023
They won't make the 8 and will need to say goodbye to a number of best 22 vets this year and next. They don't have the cattle to come in and replace them. They are done.

NON-MFC: Rd 22 2023
Josh Daicos is the best winger in the AFL. His decision making is elite. Amazing to think he was thinking of giving it away a few years ago. Cats are sold and slow and look like they are in for a big fall. The cats situation is a cautionary tale for all list managers, you have to keep developing and turning your list over. Topping up and holding firm with your vets only works for a little while before it all goes belly up.

How far away is Matt Jefferson?
I've watched Jeffo live a handful of times this year and his game and body are developing each and every month. He has great hands, and can be a tall marking target. I think it's important to note he's shared a vfl forward line during the year with the likes of BBB, Melky, Shache, Tmac, Grundy. He's not the first in line for targets but works hard to be an option for his teammates.

What AI Thinks Fans of Each Club Look Like
I guess AI is still working out the kinks given the Collingwood supporter has all of his teeth.....

A month until television finals.
Forget watching it on the TV. Get to the ground and cheer on the boys!! Get loud! We are in the premiership race!

Farewell James Jordon
Dunstan likely won't be retained, and it is plausible to think Harmesy will be looking for more regular playing time and a contract extension elsewhere. If the aforementioned players are playing elsewhere, and Jordon leaves via free agency we are looking very thin for depth when injuries occur. I wouldn't blame Jordon for looking elsewhere, but there is a role to play at the dees for him if he is willing to sit on the fringe and take opportunities when they are presented.

What they are saying at Arden Street
Blundstone Arena has not been a happy hunting ground for us, with our win loss record record being 1-3. North supporters may be down and out, but they are harder to beat in tassie and even harder to thrash in tassie. Dees should win this given north have nothing much to play for, but I'm not confident we will give them a hiding at this venue.

What They Are Saying at Punt Road
I'd leave a clever comment here on demonland for the tigers fans, but they might accidentally stumble across shemanland instead.

Harley Reid
I'm no expert on recruiting junior talent, but I have taken notice of what Brisbane have managed to do by adding a top tier junior player Brisbane were a contender, but needed to find another gear. They added Ashcroft, and also Fletcher and dunkley and now have arguably one of the best lists, if not the best list in the AFL. It's the Ashcroft pick that lifted that side immediately. Reid would have that impact for us. Our premiership window is open now, and may close in 2-3 years. Get Reid, chase another flag.

The Lance 'Buddy' Franklin Non Thread
I respect his greatness and contributions to the game. But I can never forget the beltings we suffered at the hands of buddy and the Hawks during their dynasty. He wouldn't have joined us during our darkest days, he doesn't deserve a look in during our brightest. Good luck to him doing supplement commercials with his wife in his retirement. Thanks, but no thanks.

Matt Jefferson Signs 2 Year Extension
Whenever I venture down to Casey I do keep an eye on him. He is a smart player who will benefit from some strength and conditioning and being in the AFL system. He is someone I'm looking forward to seeing next season after another year in the system. Knowing he will be here an extra few years is great news given he might be given an opportunity to play senior footy as early as next season.

Media Bias - What can we do?
I watched this on my lunch break today and nearly spat out my coffee. Barrett and Lloyd could not give the demons any less credit for their win. I don't mind going under the radar, but the blatant disrespect is getting a bit tiresome.

Contracted Tomlinson Looks to Move On?
He's contracted and is valuable as a spot starter or depth player. I understand he would like more game time, but I can't see the dees just letting him go cheaply given his value to our list. The premiership window is still open, and we be need quality depth Adams looks like he might be an option in a year or two, but isn't ready to come in to fill a role yet. Kye Turner I haven't seen enough of, and disco Turner is a player he but more of an intercept type backman. Tommo is valuable and should stay until his contract ends
