McVeigh will replace Malceski off half back leaving a spot in the midfield for Heeney who will get a game ahead of Mitchell IMO. He's every chance to win the Rising Star award.

When a kid can be out all year with a knee reco and still be considered a top 3 chance I think it says everything about how woeful this draft really is. This draft will be one of the worst in history, just our luck to have 2 high picks in such a poor draft.
-
It's sad to see a poor man's Weetra leave the club. I'm disappointed that we couldn't see him reach his true potential by averaging 5 disposals a match at VFL level for the next 2 years. I was right again he never should have got a new contract and you were wrong again.
-
So what? Did clubs send out Johnston, Morabito, Menzel, Patton and Smith to train\play with a damaged ACL? That's how they done it again? Of course not. Lever may never do his knee again but if he does serious questions will have to be asked regarding the recruiting department when the whole world knows he has a dodgy knee. If the club thinks he is worth the risk then good them but he is definitely a risk.

Then why haven't we won a premiership then? When is the last time Melbourne went with a safe pick? If we select Brayshaw it will the first time we have selected a safe pick since Scully and everyone has a go at him because he's done nothing but he did give us a [censored] load of salary cap space because we couldn't keep him and he allowed us to land Hogan so he has given us a lot more than the speculative picks we have picked up in the first round who have completely duded us. Look at all our first rounders all have been skinny except Trengove who is an outside player. All have been slow except Scully and Blease. All have been outside players except Scully and Gysberts. I don't know about anybody else but I'm sick and tired of the club getting burnt by skinny, slow, outside players. Time to go for safe picks with meat on them.
-
McCartin looks like the obvious pick but it's Melbourne we never go for the obvious. When you look the 3 criteria's that Melbourne choose their players from which are: You have to be slow. You have to be skinny. You have to be injury prone. I don't think McCartin fits those criteria's while Lever ticks all the boxes. I think we are heading towards another Toumpas type blunder.

The only draft expert you should read is Machsy. Just ask him. His expert opinion on McCartin was brilliant. I watched some Falcons games but I didn't know if he was actually playing as I wasn't looking out for him. Pure gold now he says McCartin will go at 4 and is a good player after saying he wasn't worthy with a spot insde the top 15 to 20 players. I'm sure he will hail him as the next Plugger if we select him it's the Demonland way. You have now been told Machsy is the only draft expert that can satisfy your needs.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN NEWTON

Your the one that's being fanciful. Richmond wanted him at pick 12 before he got injured, you don't think they would use a late pick on him? If they recruit Newton Evans, McKenzie or Fitzpatrick will have to be delisted then rookied if they are going to use pick 40 it won't Trengove or they will use pick 40 for Jetta. Essendon are only going to pick 20 in the draft so they clearly don't think there is a lot of depth in the draft Melbourne might be thinking the same. Who are the 20 players you would have ahead of McCartin? You have a go at his speed but then rave on about Lever who is slower, well done Mr Fanciful. -

30% is a lot better that's success right there, never finishing higher than 14th. The Bulldogs drafted better than us which isn't hard they picked up 2 better players than Toumpas, received a father\son pick and picked up Bontempelli other than that they don't have a lot going for them. We will see how they go next year. Both Neeld and McCartney are nothing appointments. -

I'm pretty sure that is a lie but I'm am flattered that someone who wouldn't bother researching McCartney would research me. I also got Frawley right. Everyone said he was off to Geelong I said he was off to Hawthorn, didn't need a source just knew that was the way FA was heading. Just reading the Neeld thread and what a surprise, failed coach goes to Melbourne GUN COACH, failed coach goes to Essendon DUD COACH usual Demonland. Yeah I make mistakes but I'm sure the sun shines right out of your ass. -

No why would I? -
Selwood's name always pops up when it comes to injuries but he didn't have a knee reco. Alex Johnson and Troy Menzel have done it 4 times, Morabito 3 times and Gawn twice they are harder to get over. Toumpas name threw me because he was injury prone as well a he missed half of the year with his injured hips. I thought that they weren't expecting much from him due to his injured hips and he was a project player and they were in it with him for the long haul. They were never going to pick him up if they were looking for a ready made player. I don't know why Toumpas was rated so highly by the experts? He's too slow for an outside midfielder, he wasn't any good as a 17 year old except he had a good finals series and injured for half the year as an 18 year old.

Nah just revisit it if we finish as high as 12th like they done regarding Bailey. -

That's bad. I apologise for that it was a mistake. I shouldn't have made those getting injured comments no matter how much I get frustrated at their performances -
Your point being what exactly?

Finally some good news after the McCartney debacle. We won't be taking Lever THANK GOD.

Another one that doesn't do his research. The Richmond thing has already done. No one in their right mind would say he was successful at the Bulldogs because it's just not true. I will take into account that you are a Sydney theatre goer. -
Melbourne can go for anyone they like at pick 3 except Lever. He's done his knee and there is a high risk he could do it again. He would have to be as talented as Schwarz for us to even contemplate such a risky decision. He sounds like Grimes not a lot going for him except he is a fantastic leader. We have been given a gift at pick 3 we shouldn't [censored] on it.

Blease did look good when he played in the championships but Zaharakis looked better we should of taken him. Laverde can take a grab so he has a few more tricks than Blease.

I didn't think I had to make a suggestion I just don't think he is the great get that everyone suggests he is and I typed the reasons why I don't think he is. I would prefer someone with a Sydney background. -

That's a hard one, preferably someone not recycled. Somebody that could be moulded into a Roos proto type. I think it would be hard for anyone who has coached for 16 years to change his philosophies and follow Roos's strict game plan. The Bulldogs, Geelong and Essendon don't play anything like Melbourne. -

Who did Craig develop? Walsh was always injured and Spangher is a handy premiership player. Crameri got paid over twice the amount he was getting at Essendon to play for the Bulldogs. Both Mooney and Scarlett don't strike me as coaches and it looks like they both made the wrong decision. We'll see how the young Bulldogs go next year.
