This is the easiest thing to coach out of players. Just go for the hips, everyone wants to grab the arm because it's a certain holding the ball if you can grab that arm. Whelan was a great tackler and nearly always went for the hips. Why are people attacking Thomas while the inventor of dropping the knees the real grub Selwood gets off scot free? Looks like racism to me. No surprise that North and Geelong are leading the way in this tactic they are the dodgy brothers after all.

Tmac is getting crucified by Roos. He should not be the number 1 key back, Dunn should be the one to play on the gorillas, T.Mac's strength is reading the play coming in as the second or 3rd tall back the role that Garland can't do. Roos should need to explain why Dunn is out of favour. Roos has cost us any chance of beating the Bombers, Dogs and Power by persisting with Garland. Roos is as out of form as any player on the list he needs to lift.

The "They're out here" Get Rid of the Zone Defence Thread
WERRIDEE replied to Forest Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Defensively we have been rubbish, Rawlings must get the chop at seasons end. -
Do we really want Gunston to beat Fanning's record? STOP THE TANKING. Can White be elevated off the rookie list?
-
Besides his game against Richmond he has been pathetic for a year and a half now, a 1 year wonder, time to be dropped. A half fit Oli would have been more serviceable.
-
Every time I time I see Garland on the team sheet I think tanking. He is easily the worst player in the comp. If he ever plays again I'm ripping up my membership. IN: DAWES, TRENGOVE, OLIVER, WHITE OUT: GARLAND, TYSON, NEWTON, KENT Michie to come in if Viney gets a week.

Garland - Please retire spud Tyson - The new Toump

10 less disposals so you would have to say he paid Cameron a lot more attention than Smith and Gorringe as he should. Cameron was used as a decoy exposing Garland. Dunn was on Greene surely he could have zoned off on him and actually help Garland out which he never did, I'm sure McDonald would have done a better job than what Dunn did. It's hard to imagine him not doing a better job than what Dunn did because Dunn was pathetic. You have clearly come after me wanting me to say that I was wrong and you were right. I won't agree with it. Your acting like McDonald going to Cameron was a match winning move, pretty sure we lost by 8 goals.

Really? I already posted my response on another thread not sure if you read it and I really don't care but this is a down and out lie just to suit your argument.

Are you serious? My attack was that he is a VFL standard player. OOH that's nasty. It's nice that your sticking up for your son and all but don't you think your going over the top? When the next poster posts that Dawes, McKenzie, M.Jones etc are not up to AFL standard or Toumpas and Watts should be traded I'm expecting the same response that you have given me, I mean it's only fair or is it a leave my poor boy alone scenario? Seriously my heart bleeds. I just find it amusing when the club has Nate.Jones, Hogan and another 20 players that get a game ahead of Bail someone would choose Bail as their favourite player. A favourite player is usually your idol, someone you specifically want to see play and for me it definitely isn't Bail unless your a fan boy or a family member. Your so called attack wasn't about points scoring, trying to be popular or respected it was just an opinion\observation. I only come on here to have an opinion (I like talking football) I don't care about the other rubbish. Attack posters but not players? Ridiculous. Is this a football forum or a who can attack someone the best forum? You or anyone else can come after me just don't expect me to allow you to walk over me, it's not my style.

Dawes is the new Miller. Undropable it doesn't matter if he plays 15 bad games in a row (he must be close to it by now) we will persist with him until we are the laughing stock of the competition and then we wonder why we never improve.
-
When do you think he will tell us to drop Hogan?
-
I won't go around in circles but what does that sentence got to do with anything I said? As usual you are not making sense. Favourite player Bail hey. You keep high standards there. VFL fan are you? And my football knowledge is poor.

Are we seeing Geelongs culture crumbling?
WERRIDEE replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Obviously injuries will be their only problem. Put Mitchell and Gibson back into that side and they won't lose. -

Selwood and a heap of father\sons have helped. Bartel was a top 10 draft pick as well. -
5 goal leads are nothing in todays game. They are actually the worst leads to have. I can't speak for the players but as a supporter when you watch any side play I'm thinking we kick 1 or 2 more goals the game is over but if they kick 1 or 2 goals they are back in the game, they have a sniff and it's hard to stop momentum. Only the best players seem to be able to do it. I remember the 2000 Grand Final and I thought we had a better midfield and that was our advantage in that game but every time we looked like getting some ascendency through the middle they would just put Hird in there and he would destroy us. Put a Dangerfield, Fyfe, Selwood, Mitchell, Kennedy etc in our side and their is no way players like that would allow a 14 goal momentum swing like that. Jones is a great player but he simply doesn't have the talent to change a game the way they do. We simply don't have the talent. People will blame our dreadful 3rd quarter for loss, but our first quarter was to blame as well. We dominated I saw a stat that said at the 22nd mark of the 1st quarter we had 10 of the last 11 clearances we dominated and to only be 4 goals up was never going to be enough. We should have at least been 6 to 7 goals up by then which would have put doubts in all the players of GWS's minds but we let them off the hook and paid dearly for it.

7th and 8th are up for grabs for any team in form. The top 6 teams are capable of winning flag.
-
Vince and Grimes done a great job on Dangerfield. Dawes played a blinder. The only top game he has played for the club. Walker never played. Grimes is in the VFL. Vince is underdone. Dawes is sadly out of form. I can't see it repeating.
-
Watts and Howe were in our best 6 last week so I would wait to see how they go for at least the next few weeks before I would hang them.

We need to go the other way around a A grade sticks out like a sore thumb. Most teams have a A grader with class. Jones is a gun but he isn't what you would call class. Imagine how good he would be not getting a tag every week. A lot people have talked about Toumpas and the disaster he has been considering we could have had a A grader with class in either Macrae or Wines but no one seems to be looking at the Tyson deal and no it's not about Kelly, it's about a clear prototype midfielder that Roos apparently craves being totally ignored in Bontempelli. Tyson and Salem are good players but give me Bontempelli every day of the week. We continually stuff it up when it comes to recruiting a A grade midfield and what is going to make me sick is seeing a star in Heeney tear it up in a top team due to the academy rort when he should be ours. I think Roos has been able to create midfield depth as I think we have about 10 to 12 good to handy players that can run through there but unless you have 1 A grader or 2 to allow the depth to thrive then depth is pretty useless. With ruckman Mumford is the exception he is not the norm. He is the best ruckman by a mile (sorry I forgot Sandilands), no ruckman can do what he does with the exception of Nik Nat but Nik Nat does it once out of every 10 games. Build the midfield then go after the ruckman similar to what GWS have done.

You cant drop players on 1 bad game. Everyone bar Toumpas had a good game against the Suns. Vince had to come in. He had the runs on the board due to his fantastic season last year. Give him time. Then there is the player that finished about 15th in the B&F who done nothing in the NAB challenge after having a PB preseason and replaced a form player only to have a shocker. If that isn't a form line to be dropped then nothing is. If his name was Pedersen or McKenzie it would be a no brainer but because his name is premiership hero Dawes it's another story. You can't pick anyone from the VFL this week because it was a training drill and you can't pick players from training drills if that was the case TDI should be a selector.
-
There is a kid named Weideman as well but Roos usually drafts for classy mids and trades for talls. I heard that there is a bloke down Geelong way that gets depressed once he sees his team get belted week in week out. Maybe he wants out and we can trade him for Dawes? lol Carlton targeting everyone. Even their own coach knows no one wants to go to them so why do they even bother?
-
1st half - Roos can coach 2nd half - Roos can't coach
-
You were at training all week. What the hell was wrong with Nate Jones? Please tell us he was injured? Surely he hasn't caught what the rest of the team has which is Melbourneitis which makes you give up once the going gets tough. What if we can bring McKenzie back as well that will surely make you explode? Curry & Beer must be excited as well as we could finally have a team based on games played. IN: PEDERSEN OUT: HOGAN
