Injured Players
And please AFL, can our players have a 'real' mid season bye in 2023 to properly rest and recover. Not the 10 day break we had after Queens Birthday. It was just silly fixturing to play on a Thursday night.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I was thinking about the Collingwood/Grundy negotiations. Eg. What draft pick, how much Collingwood pay etc. It seemed to me that the figure bandied around is $300k pa from Collingwood and I figure a pick around #18 is a fair cost to us. But what picks will we actually have in the end? Could the AFL Draft Value be used in negotiations? The calculation could be a base of $100k and a simple multiplication of points x 200 = $ extra paid by Collingwood. For example my valuation of pick 18 will cost $100k base plus 985 x 200 (197k) = total cost of $297k pa Should they demand pick 12 for example then they contribute $353.6k ($100k + 1268 x 200 = $253,600) Pick 25 will cost them just $251.2k Follow? It may look a little convoluted at first but it really isn't and may be a fair solution. Thoughts?

Tom McDonald re-injures foot
He missed a Casey GF - it was in season for him. So the logic used here is say nothing about it before the GF and then you don't have to after because it's a privacy issue?! No matter - we are just going around in circles. None of us really know and we're not going to be told. I, for one, will move on.

Tom McDonald re-injures foot
I get that, but as far as we know McDonald missed a VFL GF by re-injuring a serious and known foot injury. Or so we think. Did he or didn't he? It's hardly a privacy issue.

Petracca on 360
Can we just accept that we were good this year, just not good enough. The standard across the board in the AFL was the best I've seen in decades. As a club, we had a fair bit to do with that as teams copy the way Premiers play. We were also studied by the opposition and tactics were developed to counter our strengths. A drop off in a fanatical desire to win is usually sub concious. You truly believe you are doing everything the same but that 'first' has been achieved. It is not a matter of lacking the want, or a character flaw as such, and it's certainly not because the club did the right thing by members by taking the cup on tour. This year the players knew we can win it, not just have a belief. The fact we didn't will be the strongest motivating factor going forward. I suspect they will give us what we all want again in '23

Why does it have to be a whisper though. Can't the club just make a simple statement?

Adam Tomlinson on the move?
Was best 1:1 in the league last year before his knee. Haven't got a strong feeling either way on stay or leave, just wanted to give the bloke credit for how he probably exceeded my expectations when we first recruited him.

Why did we fade out in games?
Our AFLW side has taken it to another level. Last 2 matches we have kicked a total of 9 goals in the first quarters. After that (eg 6 quarters), 1 goal. ☹️

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
A very fair and accurate assessment on what I saw. Not writing him off as a footballer, but would be surprised if we picked him up this draft given our limited picks.

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
I think Melbourne's Premiership has spoiled me for any other match. I need to re-adjust 😄

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
It's Lukas but yes, had a little shudder. Taj a little quieter that quarter but has had 9 possesions so far - equal 3rd highest in the game. Looks OK without starring.

CASEY: Rd 13 vs Werribee
Weideman has divided and conquered me. He is my favourite VFL player and least favourite AFL player ?

Dee-sappointment Article Nails It
In a member exclusive Zoom session with Jack Viney a couple of weeks ago, I asked him if the game plan had changed this year. His response was that the game plan has basically been the same for some years. I interpreted this two ways: 1.That this is in fact true and we keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result (definition of stupidity) or 2. It has in fact changed but Jack, for one, is not aware it has. Either way - we are in real trouble.

Proud to Belong, Proud to Give
Echo sentiments re fellow Demonlanders. I'm a pensioner but have bought the $450 names Guernsey. Totally my choice and I don't expect people to buy if in hardship. I must say though, I'd prefer if it was our normal, standard jumper rather than one with a logo that was used many years ago for finite period. It's the best jumper in the league so why bastardise it if we don't have to?

DEBT DEMOLITION
It's back!!!! I have had a couple of discussions with the club today and members will be getting an email in the next few days outlining a Debt Demolition style campaign similar to the one that Jim Stynes implemented more than 10 years ago. As was the case back then, donations will be tax deductible. It's been touted as a possibility by a few posters and they have been proven correct. Bring it on I say - I want every person as well as my club to survive this scurge of a virus!

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
The important thing is all of us appreciate that ours and every AFL club is going to be affected financially like they never have before. Would I talk about a need to raise funds for my football club on a general coronavirus forum? No.....but this is Demonland - MFC supporters who love the club, surely it is the appropriate place. Of course we shouldn't be top of the list, my point is we are not even on a list! We are ALL affected, directly and indirectly by this horrible virus. Who, how and when we help in our way is purely our choice and no judgement should be made either way. But currently there is no organised option for those of us that would like to help the club now, hence my suggestion of a GoFundMe page. The good news is that something is happening. I have had a couple of discussions with the club today and members will be getting an email in the next few days outlining a Debt Demolition style campaign similar to the one that Jim Stynes implemented more than 10 years ago. As was the case back then, donations will be tax deductible. This was always the preferred option for me with every cent raised going to the club with no time lag. Whilst on the phone I also bought a ticket in the Demon Draw which has a $30k first prize. At $200 it ain't cheap, but there aren't thousands of tickets sold and I see it as a donation anyway.
