  1. One wonders if people would have been so critical if it had been published under its original name “War: What is it good for?”
  2. I'm in that "younger" group that posts here (I'm 28 now) and there has definitely been a shift in the perception for mental health. I had to take some days off recently from my job due to my anxiety and I was honest about it. My boss who is an absolute country boy sent me a lovely message about how they were all behind me and would support me. I think the main issue is still about getting people to talk about it. You read on other sites about if AFL footballers take time off due to mental health issues it always must be a drug problem. I can't imagine the sort of pressure they are under. I can absolutely understand people like Tom Boyd retiring from the game early. People were pooing on him since he got traded from the start. Just dont read it they say, you get paid a lot of money so why does it matter. Once it gets in your head it isn't going to leave easily for most. You go into the season with the big name full forward leaving and then your manager comes out saying that you are worth 650k a year, thanks mate I didn't have a full plate before that. I remember a close friend of mine starting a facebook awareness campaign addressing ones mental health problems and it was hard enough for me to post about it then.I could see it in my friend when i was younger looking back. When I was 16 he kept asking me if there was anything more in life, wondering if this was it. I thought I understood what he meant and said that yeah, the thing missing was that you try and find somebody to love. My friends and me talked about it and we obviously didn't grasp what was really going on. Then time goes on and you realise what he was actually going through once you experience it. I guess hindsight is 20/20 as they say. I can't imagine how hard it would be for players to confide to friends or family worrying it could come out, let alone to the public. My friend who has been struggling with depression for 10+ years runs a fundraiser every year at his work with the help of his family who has raised thousands of dollars for the R U OK foundation and he is my inspiration. Sorry it became a bit of a blog post in the end. Edit: If any of our cheersquad reads here, get behind him and make a banner
  3. Baker been impressive again
  4. This season has been so awful I can’t believe it
  5. Why wouldn't you try go for a torpedo at the end there
  6. I saw Tom Morris at a grocery store in Melbourne yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a jerk and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
  7. Normal in this day and age perhaps, I think you will find science is starting to prove it isn't good for you.
  8. Has lost his swagger
  9. I don't think Hunt is going to make it.
  10. Smith, Petracca and Fritsch all played out the game so surely their injuries arn't too serious. Was particually impressed with Smith today with which I am hoping is a bad corky or something similar, showed a lot.
  11. After 2 tickets if anyone has them to sell
  12. I cant get any tickets in the MCC anywhere.. the site must be broken. I was in there at 12
  13. He was kicking well last year
  14. He will come good.
  15. The Handmaid's Tale is back for season 2 and so far the first two episodes I have enjoyed more than the first season.
  16. Wasn't he on the bench a lot of the time last year?
  17. With a relative diagnosed with Aspergers I don't think you know what it is.
  18. Thought it might have been something like this
  19. What else was squeezed on there?
  20. Just finished "The Sinner" with Jessica Biel which was fairly good, only has 8 episodes. "A young mother tries to find out what's causing her to have violent tendencies." IMDB Link
  21. I enjoyed the first season a lot as well. It is based on the true story of two FBI agents delving into the reasons murderers and serials killers do what they do.
  22. I just finished listening to S-town which was very good. I occasionally listen to the Joe Rogan Experience when he has interesting guests on there which I would recommend checking out. For my more macabre interests there is one called "The Last Podcast On The Left" where 3 comedians go into depth about different serial killers, murders, war crimes and things like that which can be very funny at times and extremely morbid.
