  1. This could be spectacularly terrible. Everytime in the past we’ve gone in with a small forward line we’ve consistently bombed it to no one. No idea what Goody and the match committee are thinking, but he may fall on his own sword if we get smashed. There’s really no rhyme or reason with our team selections this year. The structure of our side has been consistently changing, so how are we trying to play? If they want to go the small forward line we are going to have to be precise with our kicking and we will also have to put on high pressure for most of the game. Don’t do that and we will lose this game by 6 goals easily.
  2. Remember it well…. Was just happy to get a win! The Richmond game was when I started to believe.

He could well end up there if we can find better forward options.
  4. I think that’s Chaplin’s role and maybe a bit of Sam Radford. The issue is the caps put on coach spending, which probably limits where we can spend our money.

Bit left field and no world beater, but Tom Cole from West Coast is one I'd be interested in as an UFA. He is 27 and a good size and has good speed. Could be our lock down small defender to release McVee, Windsor, Bowey more. He was a part of the 2018 premiership side, so has played roles in good sides before.
  6. I like the positive spin! I think a big part is where we are playing certain personnel. Some hard decisions may need to be made if we want to get our season back on track.
  7. Will Day is out for up to 4 months I saw today.... will be interesting to see how badly that affects the Hawks top 4 chances.
  8. 100% agree with this and glad we are pushing it.

You're telling me there's someone on our list that can play like a forward?!

He needs to be given a crack this week, purely because we have to reward VFL form when our 1st side is struggling to score and is winless. We need to get some selection integrity going to hopefully get some wins in the AFL!
  11. Probably won't leave given it's early days, but if they are lowballing him it may happen. Premierships are good, but at the end of the day it is a job and a short term one.
  12. Another good listen. It feels like the players are so focused on trying to implement the new ball movement plans that they aren't doing the basics well. We need to get back to worrying about pressure and contested ball as our primary focus on game day. A bit like when you practice a new golf swing. While on the range you spend time thinking about it and implementing the change, but once you're out on the course you just focus on hitting the ball.
  13. The stuff I've heard about him this would be crazy risky....
  14. I reckon the Kolt is the man that will bring that glue moving forward. Looks a natural leader to me.
  15. Clarry is currently having more impact on games and actually had 3 less clangers than Viney on Friday but double the disposals!
  16. You would drop Oliver before Viney? 🤯
  17. Plus Lindsay rolling through there
  18. Hinkley would have to be leading given he's already leaving end of year.... He may step aside early if they lose a few more. Goody and Voss it's really who has more losses first!
  19. I don't think it's disposal, he's pretty solid in that area. He just has zero leg speed. Would prefer him to Viney atm though easily
  20. Fair point. Though there are plenty of sides who have picked up mature age rookies late or in the mid-season draft and played them immediately. I think he is good enough to have a long term best 23 spot, I'm more referring to that he is still learning the team systems etc.
  21. I'm sure he is, but hopefully we are right in the fight because we just have to replenish the list and cutting everyone and sitting at the bottom for 5 years is not a good strategy anymore.
  22. It sounds like he’s leaving and obviously Derksen we liked last year. Maybe we will go for both this off season.
  23. Agreed. Let’s not forget he only got a spot a few weeks before the season started, he’s trying to play afl level footy without even doing a full pre season with the side. He’s 100% worth persisting with in the small forward role.
  24. I think we need to go hard at some players with talent at other clubs who can’t get a go due to positional strength. We need them to come in and have the ability to impact straight away, I don’t want to languish back down the bottom again! For example, Leek Aleer was pick 15 in 2021 but can’t get a go at the Giants. At 23 he’s about to enter a great age for key position players and has extraordinary athletic ability. I’m sure there are plenty more out there we can target, but if we get White and Sinnema through the draft we are still rebuilding with youth while trying to stay relevant! The Giants have a ridiculous amount of depth. We need to raid as much as we can.
  25. Any chance we give Sestan a go so we can move Rivers back into the middle?
