  1. Collingwood run with Moore and Frampton and then have Howe as the third tall, who is a similar size to Howes but obviously has a big leap. It can definitely be beneficial at ground level and playing the rebound game, but it means our mids need to put on a lot of pressure. If they don't Suns will take easy marks inside 50.
  2. Think the game he was referring to was the Hawks....
  3. He's out injured I believe for 4-6 weeks.
  4. Yep. Then you have Petty to ensure we always have at least 2 key talls down there. They are essentially playing Melksham as a key forward, it has worked at times but can fail miserably when the bigger defender gets on top of him.
  5. I hope so! Deserves another crack and should be played the rest of the season. Sounds like they are dropping JVR but I don't really understand why. Has limited opportunity forward and kicked 2 goals and competes as second ruck. I wanted to see JVR, Jeffo and Petty forward this week and Melksham out or sub personally.
  6. If we play Jeffo as sole forward we are essentially throwing him to the wolves. He needs a senior body down there to assist him I think. I want him to succeed!
  7. Where did this news come from?
  8. Geelong are the same. Funny enough the one top 10 pick they've had recently looks to be a potential bust in Jhye Clark. But they've obviously done amazingly well with Holmes, Sullivan and Humphries recently and Miers and De Koning before them. They obviously also do well bringing in ready to go players regularly to top up. This is what we need to do this year and next. We need more players in the 24-28 bracket to immediately improve our best 22 and also improve our depth.
  9. He's on the rookie list mate, give it a rest.
  10. I get that but they don't list that in the stats I can find. If you can find something that does please let me know. Just as a comparison, Jeremy Cameron who I think is an excellent kick has a career goalkicking of 696.389 at 64.15% not including OOF which he would have many. So he is less than 5% better than McKay.
  11. I think the other thing to remember is he is often trying to execute kicks at high speeds and while taking on opponents. This would be a directive by the coaches given his speed. You only have to look at two goals he has kicked this year, the first game v GWS and then again vs the Eagles, both on the run from around 50m to see the talent this guy has. I agree that he should be moved from the backline and used on the wing and through the midfield the rest of the year.
  12. Don't think you can compare Ollie Lord and Harry McKay. Lord has been unable to lock down a spot at Port and the most goals he has kicked in a season is 15 in 2023. Harry McKay is a prior coleman medal winner and has kicked over 40 goals in a season 3 times and averages just under 2 goals per game for his career. FYI his career goal kicking (not including OOF) is 261.176 (59.7% accuracy). Would be happy to get Lord on a low cost contract, but McKay is a much more sure thing and Lord could be another list clogger.
  13. If he does want out we would be crazy not to go for him... even though he has had kicking issues he would make us so much more dangerous down forward and allow JVR and Jeffo to take the 2nd/3rd key talls. We could have McKay, JVR and Jeffo as key talls next year. Move Petty back with Turner and then the third spot up for grabs between May, Lever and Adams.
  14. I know we aren't going well atm, but I think we should all lay off Caleb Windsor. He's a 2nd year player who was fantastic last year and is struggling a little his second year.... very common occurence.
  15. Wonder if they will pull the trigger and play Verrall as a ruck/forward and hope for the best.... Given where our season is at I wouldn't be opposed to it.
  16. Perhaps it wasn't available at the time but things changed?
  17. 100% agree mate, both JVR and Jeffo need to play out the rest of the year. What those numbers tell me is JVR doesn't get mobile enough and on the end of lead up possessions, but is an elite finisher when he gets it. That may be partly because of how we've asked him to play, but I don't think he has natural forward craft unlike Jeffo who absolutely has it, but doesn't quite have the body yet.
  18. If you look at JVRs numbers against someone like Curnow at the same age they are also very similar from memory. These things aren't linear anyway. Last year some media pundits ranked Windsor in the top 3 from the draft, this year he's struggled a bit but probably due to the interrupted pre season. I think that draft will be extremely strong, as will last years also. The one that is probably the most worrying is Kolt, but again he also had a highly interrupted pre season.
  19. I'm all for it if it helps get the place funded! We can have a 7-eleven setup right out front.
  20. Searing kicks... I'm a Melbourne supporter, can someone please explain to me what these are?
  21. Perth sports journo. Probably their biggest there now given Basil is off doing other things.
  22. Last I checked his family net worth was $1.95b.... he could fund the whole thing and still have a small amount of $1.85b leftover
  23. C'mon man you can't compare Trac and Oliver constantly turning it over to an 18yo string bean kpf/ruck playing his first game of VFL against men.
