I also posted a few weeks ago about GCS needing incentives and not extra draft picks, I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. Even if they’re struggling on field, if they have the right culture and can see a positive future (and throw in some extra coin), they’re going to be more willing to stay. Throwing extra draft picks at them is not tackling the actual issues they have.

I don’t care that our picks have been bumped to the right, we only have ourselves to blame that we’re once again relying on early draft picks. I take issue with the AFL and their decision making, you can give GCS all the picks in the world, it won’t stop the decent players from leaving.

How long is the contract if he stays? The below article states he’ll be getting $3 million over 6 years at the Suns. Given the length of contract I reckon he’ll end up making significantly more than if he stays at Richmond. I was told Frost is asking 250k more per season than what we’ll be paying Tomlinson. Guessing around 400k vs 650k.

Probably a bit rough to use her as an analogy but that’s all it was. If you have an issue, problem or disagree with something that’s fine, just come at me with a solution or options, otherwise don’t bother. I apply this to the Tomlinson trade and posters being unhappy with it.

Just an observation, anyone can have a whinge about something, it’s a different story altogether coming up with a solution. We need to fill spots on our list, Tomlinson is free and we can’t fill all the spots with draft picks. Not one poster who is unhappy with the (potential) recruiting of Tomlinson can offer an actual solution (keeping in mind he is free). Note: He’s a hell of a lot cheaper than what Frost’s asking price is.

I reckon he doesn’t have the football smarts to become a gun, he’s a limited footballer. The best he’ll do is possibly play under a better coach and for a better team which may see him become less erratic. Time will tell.

None are free agents though. Tomlinson is a freebie.

We have to replace the players we’ve already delisted and there’ll be more who leave. Since we can’t replace them all from the draft, who would you bring in that we don’t have to trade for JR?

Fair to say then that you’re not happy with them getting a game in the seniors then? We’re simply upgrading these types of players that you have said yourself that you wouldn’t recruit. Surely Tomlinson is a better option than them?
