  1. Still one of the most underrated star forwards to ever play the game. He was an absolute GUN. Both feet, agility, strength, running patterns, the "Ox" had it all. His off-field dramas have certainly tainted just how good he was on field. Not that it should, but people certainly forget just how bloody good he was on the park.
  2. Has to and will play round one. Is an inside mid like Wines. They don't need time. They can play a role straight away. Better version of Wines once his body fills out. Has more strings to his bow. Will be a genuine inside mid gun. Instinctive footballer.
  3. Sorry, but can someone please explain to me the conjecture going on about Hogan's contract? He has 2 years left on his contract. If he puts talks on hold at the end of next year then yes by all means I would be very worried, but he has 2 years left to go. People need to ease up. It's very fair and reasonable for him to focus on his footy this year and work out what he wants to do as of the end of the season. In saying that I would be giving him a Buddy- esque deal without question. He is an unbelievable talent. Some of his marks and positioning yesterday were seriously Carey like. Freak.
  4. Agreed, however I think he was alluding to the attributes he has are as good as some of the coaches he's played/worked under.
  5. Of course he's not going to say he's a dud and he isn't any good. But to pump him up that much and say he is as good as Clarkson or Pagan and he hasn't even coached one match yet is pretty high appraisal I would have thought...
  6. Bloke at work who knows Jade Rawlings told me some interesting stuff about Simon Goodwin and the Roosy appointment. Rawlings absolutely rates Goodwin and reckons he is up there with one of the best coaches he's ever worked with, saying he's up there with Pagan, Clarkson and that's not a word of lie. Straight from his mouth my workmate said. I quizzed him on it and said surely not but he said Rawlings absolutely said that and has that high of an opinion of Goodwin and his knowledge of the game and the way he works with players. He also said tactically he is brilliant, felt as though the team could have won more games last year if Goodwin's style of coaching was in practice, players absolutely love him and feed off everything he says. Rawlings also said he applied for the coaching position and was disappointed not to get it and felt as though if someone got it who he thought didn't deserve it he would be annoyed but has seen how good Goodwin is and he is the best man to take over from Roosy. Also said Roosy is a very good delegator and man manager. Culture at the club is the best he's seen it in all his time. Thought i'd just post to all demonlanders a little insight
  7. Dawes should not play one game this year if this team is to improve. Completely ineffectual footballer who was not wanted by ONE club when put up for trade. Petracca (if fit), Melksham, Pick 3, 7, Bugg will all be in the round 1 team hopefully. I understand the thought of easing high draft picks in; but this era is not like the Neeld era. These draft picks if they are ready should play. Selwood, Judd, Hodge, Goodes etc all played round 1. If good enough, play them.
  8. Not sure how some people can't see that the team is crying out for more hard bodied midfielders. Int his day and age you need at least 6-8 inside mids running through the centre. Currently our inside mids consist of: Vince, Jones, Viney, Brayshaw. That's only four. Petracca and Trengove (if both are fit) slot straight into the inside mid group, but we all know with Trengove's injury past that isn't a certainty to happen. Need to go hard for Redden. Bennell, Melksham to add depth to the midfield ranks. If we can snare Bennell and Redden that would be a quality trade period. Bennell, Redden, Viney, Jones, Vince, Trengove, Petracca, Brayshaw. Doesn't look to bad.
  9. Too all those media peanuts and supporters who think Roos has done a sh!t job this year are kidding themselves. Where's the heat coming for Alan Richardson?? Buckley?? Richardson and St.Kilda have been let off by the media all year but Roosy has copped it left, right and centre. Comparing us to the bulldogs is absolutely ridiculous aswell. Look at their midfield compared to ours, look at their forward line compared to ours. Roos doesn't have the cattle the bulldogs have and in my opinion Roosy has done a great job this year, barring a couple of games where we should have won, injuries, very good year IMO. As I've said previously, the trajectory has gone up AGAIN this year, will go up AGAIN next year, and I can't wait until this time next year when we have another 3-5 wins and he will prove these media flogs wrong.
  10. People questioning Roos have got to be kidding themselves. You simply cannot argue that since he has come on board WE HAVE IMPROVED. We have won two more games then last year with 3 rounds to go and hopefully by beating Carlton next week that will be another win on the board. Do people honestly think we were going to beat a full strength bulldogs (barring liberatore) given the form their in especially at Etihad, whilst playing for a finals birth whilst there is 3 games left knowing you won't play finals? You simply cannot question Roosy when we HAVE FACTUALLY improved since he has taken over. It's a long road, and for god's sake if you're questioning the direction and potential of the list with Petracca, Trengove, Van Danberg, Tyson, Salem, another top 10 pick with the development of McCartney then you're in another world. Onwards and upwards.
  11. These umpires are deadset cheats. Stringer did the exact same thing just before and nothing get's paid, harmes does it, freekick. Absolute imbociles.
  12. Surely you can see the club has direction and promise with alot of young talent and good senior players going forward? In the past the club has looked fragile without any direction and finally with Roos setting the foundation and Goodwin to take over it is looking more positive? Petracca, Trengove, Tyson, Vandenberg, Salem, Top 10 pick.. all not playing today, with the development looking much more assured as well as astute drafting the club is definitely on the right path.
  13. Can everyone bloody relax? I understand the performance has been woeful but to start saying we haven't improved, sack Roos, our team's going nowhere, same old melbourne is absolute RUBBISH. We beat the bulldogs earlier on in the year. We have improved on last year and when you put it into perspective the doggies are playing unbelievable footy, flogged plenty of teams this year and are fighting for a top four spot. At this stage in the season as dissapointing as it is, as a professional athlete knowing your effort isn't going to be rewarded with finals footy clearly puts back the mindset to win. Everyone stop whinging and start looking forward to another big pre-season and a big 2016.
  14. Zempalis, Maxwell, McLaughlan. Changing the channel. Bunch of flogs.
  15. Forget the game. How does Basil Zempalis get a commentating gig on TV? He is unbearable.
  16. Just had a look at the age profile of the list and geez the future is impressive. Neal-Bullen 19, Petracca 19, Brayshaw 19, Salem 19, Kennedy Harris 20, Hogan 20, Viney 21, Kent 21, Toumpas 21, Tyson 21, Frost 21, McDonald 22. Wow.
  17. 2014 Melbourne Demons 22 4 18 0 18.2% 2015 Melbourne Demons 12 4 8 0 33.3% Already 4 wins this year and the trajectory so far only looks like going up. Roosy is a brilliant coach and for what it's worth think he should be signed up for the next 10 years. Have greater faith in him delivering than when Goodwin takes over due to his inexperience not his coaching nous. Not a slight on Goodwin just believe keeping Roosy as head coach would have been worth it's wait in gold. Getting the team up to beat the cats on their home deck in Enright's 300th after last week's poor finish shows his supreme coaching nous.
  18. Honestly how do blokes like Russell get gigs as commentators? He is as putrid as they come.
  19. I don't know what it is about Roosy but he is a deadset genius. Ever since he has come to the club he has not said one thing wrong, he has galvanized the group, he has played down expectations of young players, he has said to stop looking at the past and look at the future, and the blokes he's bought in are going to have the same impact his "recycled players" did at Sydney. This man is all class.
  20. Yep. Hawthorn, Sydney, Fremantle, Geelong, North, Port will make up the top 6 IMO. That leaves West Coast, Richmond, Essendon, Adelaide, Collingwood (losing beams, lumumba, swan getting older, no midfield depth)...anything is possible.
