  1. just wondering, who would you drop for dunn, who kicked 4 at sandy this week...
  2. was definitely a knee for davey, had it strapped, and it didnt 'pop' like a hammy does...
  3. brown - fantastic tagging job johnstone - out-side polish frawley - some good spoils robertson - two cameo goals johnson - better than jamar
  4. also good to read that article about bellys memories of broady. maybe a little bit selfish but hopfully that tie will help keep him in melb should the crow eaters ever throw money at him...
  5. apparently this was the first week neitz played without pain killers so its not surprising he was in a bit of discomfort...
  6. you did say you'd start gushing about the players to help me out
  7. one swallow doesnt make a summer...but does anyone wnat to change their mind about what a fit wheatly could do for us on the wing now? he played a fantastic game today...
  8. why do you think they would be unimpressed?
  9. IMO belly was best on ground today the only person who rivaled him was green, but bell had a direct opponent and shut him down, while green played on the wing. did not concede a goal all day (the only goal welsh kicked was while ward was picking him up). his spoiling from behind was fantastic, his drive out of the backline was awesome. 6 tackles and 20 touches. 10 kicks and 10 handballs. i've taken off the belly blinkers and i'll tell you what he is looking even better when you can compare him to everyone else.
  10. i cant believe that jason cloke got 41 posts out of us...
  11. i agree finks. i think he needs be be sat out for 8-12 months absolutely nothing. then he shouls resume closer to the start of next season and aim for a return through sandy, half a game round 1 perhaps. he is too valuble a player to have on and off the park. if we ever get brock moloney sylvia and jones up and running we will have a very hard midfield winning a lot of ball, getting a lot of clearances. if that happens while we have travis, bruce and green on the outside feeding to neitz and robo we are definetly a chance to finish highly. to think that of our 4 hardest inside midfielders jones (10-odd games) is the only one who has played most of this year and and even he was injured at a time.
  12. its a good point. while sandy is a great team and i wish them well, we are almost better off farming out players to 2-3 teams to let them develop...
  13. swallow isnt the longest kick around...maybe if wheatly had of been kicking out it might have gone that little bit further...
  14. he has the foot skills to be a very damaging player, but is probably someone who needs to be given the ball more often than not. on the recieving end of a handpass if he is running towards 50 he is a good chance to put it on the spot or kick a goal from long...
  15. if its a particularly even year can you get in on 11 and a good percentage? lol
  16. i know this article is about rivers but there is a good quote from chris fagan about wheatly, this probably clears up why he is back in the side... “And Paul Wheatley had a shoulder injury, but played the last game with Sandringham and showed some good form. He’s well and truly in our best 22 so it’s good to have him back as well.” http://melbournefc.com.au/Season2007/News/...px?newsId=44368
  17. is it too late to rejoin with the mcc? would solve a lot of our problems wouldnt it?
  18. vic vs SA qland/tas vs wa/NT/nsw play them the weekend before the season starts. vic vs sa at the g. the other game either in syd or qland, depends where the afl wants to develop most (although tas deserves it the most because they actually like footy). the nab cup finishes a week before the season any way... the games could be played satruday arvo at the g then sat night in syd. vic fans will turn up no matter what, nsw fans will like the night spectacle. do a delayed start ie 240 so it finishes 515-530 then start the other one early, 640 and have an hour off in between. tv ratings would be awesome. the fans would love it. give the fans something they want for a change afl!
  19. i think you'll find that this thread was actually written last year, so most people who thought jamar was the go, thought so last year. this year he has been very dissapointing. im interested to see if he cannot reinvent himself as a marking forward because honestly thats the only part of his game i think has shown to be good enough for afl...
  20. how many picks would we have at the draft? 4 or 5? 1 rookie promotion...and we normally dont waste our time with the preseason draft do we? but i cant see us have 6 picks at the national draft, it depends on who is available for the preseason as to whether we delist the 7th player perhaps. fwiw does anyone know hom many players we have delisted in each of the past few years?
  21. gouga, i think delisting 7 is a lot, we wont have 7 picks in the draft. i think delisting 5 or 6 is more likely. of the blokes you want to delist i think we'll keep one of ward or brown as cover for running players. CJ, bartram and petterd are also cover for these positions but i like to think the later two will slot into the 1st 22 when fit. i also think we'll keep holland because we would have only 1 tall defender in reserve (warnock) which is too much of a risk, given frawley is still young and rivers is struggling with injury atm. you are right, wheatly is a smoky because of his age, the fact he has been hampered by injury and because we know he can kick it well... personally i would do the same as you except: keep wheatly, holland and ward/brown, but get rid of jamar and promote neaves. i am still delisting 5 players and promoting a rookie. the other delisting if we think the draft is deep will be the running back. if jamar cant force his way back into the dees this year he is gone.
  22. cheers mate, i liked the book better, but the movie was awesome, still trying to get my gf to sit down and watch it with me...i made it my avatar back in 2003 probably when i first joined on the old board, and ive kept it the same...half because i reckon its a great photo, and half because i reckon if i change it i'll confuse myself, and everyone else here as much as jaded just confused me
  23. haha im pretty embarrassed about that...you're one of the posters i recognise straight away usually lol but since you changed your avatar, and i didnt even look to see who the post was from when i replied... sincerest apologies jaded, no offence was meant...
  24. he better have been worth it jaded...at least the filth are victorian. PA are the scum from SA... **edited due to severe embarrassment**
  25. salary cap punishment anyone? these punishments don't just hurt you in the short term, we were hit so hard that we wont recover until 10 years after the punishments...we are paying for it now, i think if we had 2 extra key players we would be in a great position but as it stands we have 16-18 good players before we start playing kids and players who should be depth. CAC and ND should be congratulated for how well they've done with list management to have gotten us so close without those players over the past few years...
