  1. Redleg, There was an exercise done by an investigative poster who should the net weight loss from players on our list was approx 10 to 12 kgs across a team list of 35 players weighing on average 85kgs each. Less than 0.5% of body mass. Jones has lost weight and has benefited to suit his plan. But I agree with all your other ascertions. People forget that its the FD that sets the requirements and the FA merely implements them. Judgement of performance should be on actual respective roles not on supposition and runour.
  2. Correct Goodvibes. They are some of the relevant questions that should be asked as part of the review. ATM, the most important issue is to assess his record at MFC and its impact not smear by innuendo. And injuries arising from the contact or through motions in the game are often not necessarily technique issues. And anyway how can an adviser who has been in the role less than 12 months be responsible for the physical characteristics of players that have been built up over 20 to 30 years?
  3. How much weight was lost by the team this year? There are multitude of reasons why we were the worst tackling side this year. That was not one of the reasons. The only player who lost any noticeable body weight was Nathan Jones (approx. 4 kgs) to allow him to run out games that last year he did not have the legs for. And gee hasnt he been a disaster!
  4. Lets all get rabbit's feet and horse shoes if that will improve our luck! Bad luck is a transparent and shallow substitute for actually doing a review as to what really was the cause of our decline this year. If the review reveals that he or others failed in fulfilling their roles then fine sack him. But lets avoid a witchburning session ahead of the facts. Its solves nothing. There have been a number on this site who without any substantive information have come to the same conclusion. Do we actually know what his role was at the Club? Do we actually know what methods he implemented during the past 12 months and what their impact has been? I think not.
  5. I have previously documented on this site that for a trade to go through it has to be a WIN/WIN for both sides. Sure Adelaide have a surplus of ruckman but how do they win recruiting a severely injured midfielder who may never play susttained AFL football again? FWIW, if this Adelaide player is a capable player (I dont have knowledge one way or other) then its big WIN for MFC. IMO I think Moloney is in a critical position and his two years out of the game so far severely diminishes the potential he has. Given the price of ruckman, Adelaide would be chasing one of MFC's younger brigade that is not OP inflicted.
  6. Nutshell comment Bob. A perfect summation about the draft discussions on supporter sites. A very apt comment about Josh Fraser too.
  7. Its been generally average so far. But gee its 4 years old.
  8. Absolutely correct. Unfortunately it does not and your proof is bollocks. Nearly every phantom draft I saw had McLean in the first half dozen. He was drafted where he was expected to drafted. With the exception of this year, he has exceeded expectations without a doubt. But the best in that draft...your kidding?? Better than Cooney? I doubt it. Where does McLean stand against Adcock (#33 in the draft) nominated in the 2007 AA and Shaw (#48 ) who just missed out after a ripper year.
  9. FCS he just got third in the Rising Star. He did it in a midfield that was absolute crap during the year and deserves the recognition he is getting. How many possessions on average wins the B&F? He is definitely in the running. Good on him. Its a pity there is a greater challenge for the B&F.
  10. A fantastic performance by Nathan Jones as 19yo in a truly ordinary midfield and a very ordinary side. Fantastic effort Nathan. Well done.
  11. Whether he loves the club so much is irrelevant to determining if MFC should trade him or not. How much is an OP inflicted player who has not played AFL for two years? Bugger all. Why would a Club take an indeterminable risk?
  12. Caroline Wilson is the exact opposite of your description.
  13. Lets get real. Adelaide would swap a young ruckman for an OP stricken midfielder who has not played for two years and has no sign of playing again. You have got to be joking. Adelaide would have rocks in their heads to do it.
  14. Agree. Nasher in all truth we would struggle to get nominations in an AA 2nd or 3rd XXII.
  15. This Club has not been great since 1964. I am at loss at why we need to have more ex MFC players back in coaching/ football department roles. Every footy department appointment should be done on the candidates attributes, experience and performance. The fact that he previously played at MFC may actually be more of a hinderance than a benefit given this Club's lack of success and questionable culture. The inference that an ex MFC player would have more passion for a footy department job than a non MFC ex AFL player is a fantasy.
  16. I think anyone who is coaching needs to have a broad mind as to future career opportunities in football if they ever get sacked. Very happy with this appointment. While I did not think he would be MFC coach he could bring a hell of alot to the football operations side of things in his new role.
  17. White is useless on body on body contact and poor below the knees so I cant see him being able to by CHB or a midfielder. He is indeed a midfielder by default as a ruckman and despite best efforts is limited. Whelan is diminishing in skills and I hope Bode may develop and fill that role
  18. Gouga, That's the nub of the problem....how often has the team gone well enough to afford the luxury of Yze's attitude and application of his known talents? As you rightly point out about Robbo, our team would have to be having a Cats 2007 season to do so. However, a successful side depends on each player's commitment to team rules. I am not sure MFC get there with one and possibly two players whose commitment is readily drawn into question at regular intervals.
  19. He waas good up to 2002 and richly deserved his AA selection. But he changed from then on Since 2002, Yze has cheated some of the basic requirements of football and cut corners by his significant talents. Yze is a downhill skier whose greatest shows are fewer and further between and typically against ordinary opposition or teams that dont man him up. Avoids the contested ball, wont chase or tackle, lazy, is not accountable for his opponent and directs other player to pick up his opposite running off Yze and argues with umpire. If Bailey is serious about culture and eradicating mediocrity then Yze is in trouble. If Yze is anything like he has been over the past two to three years, I'll pass thanks Davey cant win a contest ball up the ground and does not like a close tag. Apart from cameos, I cant see Davey up the ground much.
  20. Newton, Petterd and Frawley are not competing for the positions that Rivers and Neitz will take and Yze and Moloney will aspire too Yze isn't better and should prepare for a permanent Sandy number on his back. There is good reason to doubt that Moloney will be back in 2008. Bartram will challenge for a midfield role and will remove the need for Godfrey. Petterd, Newton and Frawley should press claims for the first game of 2008. He did!! Where did he do that?
  21. That's what I am hoping too. In addition, I hope we can unearth a ruckman in the next year or so that will address other rucking issues.
  22. Fully agree Mick. Also by the standards of this season, some players have been training for mad Monday for some time. FWIW, mad Monday is grossly overrated for behaviour given the media pressure on AFL footballers.
