  1. Agreed. Green/Davey for pick #4 is so imbalanced...its dumb. No side will part with such a pick for a couple of NQRs. Also WCE want a first round for Seaby.....tell them their dreaming. So pick 51 plus Jamar is just pick 51. Given they have Cox Staker and possibly an interest in Niknat, why would they want Jamar? There also appears to be little logic in suggesting that if we got Vickery we would get Seaby. If we get Vickery then as a big man he is unlikely to command a regular AFL spot for two years. And Seaby and PJ as a ruck combination would not even strike fear into a team of dwarfs.
  2. Unless we have another ruck option, I cant see why we would be trading him. Clearly its not certain there was a definitive offer made by another Club. Get some facts.
  3. Well done. It only took you 16 posts to figure him out.
  4. Agree Pants. Some posters have rocks in their heads. If we send Green to the PSD only to pick him up and try and screw him financially on a football contract, we either f@c% a players football career or we retain a senior player with a malignant attitude toward the Club. Also if we screw a nine year player over a contract, what does that tell the other players about their fair dealings with the Club in the future? Oh that right, players should play for the jumper! Furthermore how would bastardry sit done to Green sit with players from other Clubs and how will it affect our already difficult task of attracting talent to MFC?
  5. Must be a quiet trade week, as this is just a rehash of information already known.
  6. That may well be an issue. B) However, I would concur with Mo's views on this. Unless the player was taking the p1$$ out of an unknown supporter, I cant see why a player would divulge such sensitive information given the players contractual arrangements have not been agreed. It would bizarre even taking into account the ground breaking fact that "footballers are just people".
  7. But he will be good trade bait. If we put him and pick 51 together then we should get pick no 4 from Port easily!
  8. You really have no clue at all do you. Port wont give up pick 4 for a couple of 26 to 28 yo NQRs.
  9. The retirement of jumpers is a load of ceremonial crap. Collingwood transferred Buckley's No 5 guernsey to Maxwell as soon as he retired. I think Essendon did the same with Hird's jumper. Just get Neitz to present to a young player deemed worthy of it.
  10. Confirmation that this years draft will be good. Thanks Freak.
  11. Green for Stokes and Prisnall. Geez. Geelong will pounce on that. Prisnall might want out...but he has not stated that he wishes to go to MFC. So token offerings of a 4th round pick in lieu of the PSD are stupid unless the player has agreed to come to MFC. I am not sure MFC have a high demand for a Stokes when we have Davey, Maric and Wona.
  12. It will take another party to accept their trades. They could still be active offering "great" trade bait like Bell and Carroll but get no takers. The key issue is that MFC dont have a lot of list quality to hawk around to get meaningful additional or better placed picks. That has been the argument put forward and not that a Club sits on its thumbs during the week. No Club does that. Its just that Clubs will not trade if they dont see the value being offered to them for what they put on the market.
  13. Consistent with what I have heard about him. He is then finished at MFC.
  14. They can still be active without doing any trades at all. No one has said they would not be active. Until Green came on the radar, MFC did not have any ready players that they were willing to trade that would provide them with meaningful Top 25 picks.
  15. Another star graduate from the Class of 2003!. If Carlton are seeking to build for a challenge for a flag in the next couple of years, why would they be trading a 23yo with 5 years experience who was their PP (No 2 pick) in 2003? Because he is..... Aside from Cooney, the 2003 draft is the most underwhelming basket of talent in years. I hope this year's crop is better than that and MFC draft some stars...or at least one!
  16. You should be. Sentana is an Irish experiment that did not work.
  17. No on two fronts. Firstly, one poor deal does not validate another. Secondly, neither Davey or Green would be a first round pick on their own. And certainly not a viable trade together for pick 4. Agreed. But such deals are the exception to the rule not the rule. However, according to some posters the exception is the rule.
  18. Neither Green nor Davey would command a first round pick on their own. To get a pick # 4 you have have to be prepared to trade a player who the other side is befitting of a No4 quality. Its no good giving them a showbag of NQR players with anyother titbits thrown in. The lack of quality of your MFC proposal is not camouflaged by quantity. Read Maurie's post.
  19. Hannibal was right when some people believe that "Crap + Crap + Crap = equals a first round pick". Port give us pick 4 and MFC gives them.... 1. Green - 28yo MOR midfielder is worth a 2nd round pick on his own. 2. Bell - Six year NQR who is worth no more than a 3rd round pick on his own. 3. Pick 35. Port would be nuts to do the deal. From an MFC perspective, where do we sign?
  20. We were not good enough when it counted...against North Melbourne in a prelim final. We were meek on the day and should have done better.
  21. Could you get a recruiting job with Gold Coast? I reckon we will offload any number of MFC cast offs for the GC first round picks in 12 months with your slant on things.
  22. But we never made a grand final in those years! FWIW, MFC blew an opportunity in 1990 when Collingwood won the flag with the most ordinary premiership side in years. We werent good enough in 1994 and 1998.
