  1. Another case of misrepresenting another posters point of view. Why do you do that? Is it because you cant support your own position despite being asked? And you havent been able to put a half sensible rationale for the last sentence. You must have missed alot of 2007.
  2. Its more a case that Sydney maximise their tilt at a flag while Hall, O'Loughlin, Kenneally, Goodes and Kirk are around. Ultimately trading away their picks and the retirement of the star players will impact their list negatively. I agree White will offer them little and their opportunity at another flag is slipping.
  3. Correct. White has no trade value even if packaged up with another player And Bruce would be lucky to pull better than pick 25 and MFC would still pick up part of his package for a year o two. However while the Swans are interested in White at a gift price, I am not so sure they are hot on Bruce.
  4. You could only hope WYL. That was the year that Jako, Tingay, Prymke and Charles also went down. So the wheels had well and truly fallen off and while the Ox was a factor there was more to it. And I can attest that Visy had eight environmental management executives who all just happened (by chance) to play for Carlton.!
  5. Totally agree Jack. Hate the Pies. But over the years its a toxic mix of loathing and a few nods of respect. As for Carlton.....there could be kids watching.
  6. We were a "real" chance until the season actually started. We lost the first six games of the year and then lost the last 4 games. Finishing with 9 and 13. In reality we were not a show at all. After being knocked out of the 1994 finals in unceremoniously in straight sets, Carlton (now Visybank) were set for revenge and monstered the competition savagely that year and finished 18 an4 at the end of the H&A four games clear of second.
  7. Unfortunately we were not. WCE were streets ahead of everyone else. They belted us in the PF in Perth. 1998 was a better chance than 1994. Good post Pants. Schwartz had a magnificent 1994. And he had he replicated that performance in future seasons he might have got near Carey's orbit. He was not so after one season. But its hypothetical. He came back to AFL a different player after 3 ACL jobs and whilst winning a B&F in 1999 was never the same footballer again. His game started to deteriorate in mid 2000 through 2001 and when he finally retired in mid 2002 after a string of poor performances, he was broken man who body could not cope with AFL. Tingay is underrated on this site. Its no coincidence that MFC made the finals in 1994 and 1998 when Stinger was up and running. Gutsy, fearless and skillful. Great to watch
  8. Bobby, Its a good outcome but belies the financial disparity that characterises interstate clubs and Victorian Clubs. If you compare the, membership, gate takings arrangements revenue turnover and profitability of WCE, Freo, Crows and compare it with clubs like MFC and NM, it shows its not a level playing field and how much harder it is for one of the lower level financial clubs to succeed in terms of facilities for players, sponsors and members, coaching and conditioning staff and sponsorship exposure.
  9. Shouldn't your post go in the "World has ended" thread in General discussion. About as accurate. I would further suggest that you avoided making unfounded allegations of illegal behaviour of any footballer unless it has been clearly appeared in the news media. They normally check their facts and sources and are generally well aware of libel laws.
  10. FFS, he is only 21. And at 21, he is only showing promise. How 21 year old rucks dominate the AFL? If I am basing my assessment on what how has shown in limited game time and on his potential, I think I have shown more vision that you have displayed on this thread. It figures you cant grasp some pretty basic flaws in the other posters comparison with 25 to 26 yos with 4 more years experience. The fact is that you have put him into the same bucket as Meesen suggests you have really seen neither play or just dont know. I suggest the latter. I am not sure why the gripe about the price tag. He was always going to get significant interest if he came onto the market and the price was always going to be high. Three Clubs were vying for his services. Maybe they know something you dont. Its pretty clear they do. So as we enter 2009, I am sure you can sit back and enjoy the incompetencies of Jamar and PJ and thank god we have not sought to secure a capable ruckman. Hannibal has nailed it.
  11. Correct. The rest of the posts are just posters blowing hot air in the disguise that actually know who will do what. Down at 17 and 19, only insiders at the recruiting table will have any idea who would likely be selected.
  12. Very good. Beat me to as RL's post had that ring to it.
  13. Raw but promising...... .....and at this point better than Meesen!
  14. Natanui will be three years away from commanding the No 1 ruck role (if he ever does) at senior level. By that time we will have Spencer coming through.
  15. Agree with that. Yes. Even if they went for White in the PSD (which they are unlikely to do now).
  16. Not if Warnock had chosen to come to MFC. I suspect that was not the case. You'll work it out.
  17. If another Club is seeing upside then why cant we see it? There is no bankable probability that trading Sylvia for a pick in the late 20s/30s will deliver you anything better than what we have now or what we believe we are likely to get. I agree that I dont see us actively trading this year as I dont think we have necessary list surplus that have currency with other teams.
  18. Isnt what Carlton is offering him the "market price"?
  19. Then why would another Club even give a 2nd round pick then?
  20. Just like TJ had class. Sylvia could be a capable footballer for us. However he will never reach the heights we hoped for when we got in at Pick 3 in 2003. I am not sure what clear upside we get from trading Sylvia who has a patchy health record and little achievement to date on the field. A 2nd round pick at best means pick 20, at worst means pick 36. I would suggest it would be in the bottom half of the draw. I am not confident what surety you think you will get at that stage of the draft that justifies trading Sylvia. And I cant see you would bother with it.
  21. Most posters forget this. For MFC, I am expecting it could be a real anti climax with little avenue to really trade.
  22. I hope Carlton and Freo completely screw each other over and fail to come to terms on a trade and Warnock joins his brother at MFC on our terms. :D
  23. Before you disappear in stats did you consider game time on the ground? The kid is 22yo. with potential. Jamar will be 26, Johnson will be 25. They have 3 to 4 years in the system and are not at AFL standard individually or as a pair. Its a silly comparison that lacks vision. Collingwood took the best available who was a 3rd string ruck from Brisbane who were happy to trade. By the way it was pick 14 for Wood. BTW Wood is only 22yo. Ruckman take time to mature. MFC has a real problem if it cannot obtain a capable first ruckman.
