  1. Wrong. The Swans were one of the key architects of utilising the flood which in turn required you to put players behind the ball. Roos also was prone to close the game down to ensure continual ball ups until they They had to run and carry to move the ball from defence to attack once they cracked the contested possession their way. Roos also inherited the nucleus of a team that was capable of winning a flag with Hall, O'Loughlin and Goodes Brilliant. So what game plan would you implement that would be successful for one paced limited skilled midfielders who stagnant and cant baulk? Correct. The midfield is not blue collar...just 3rd world. If players dont have the skills.....Let you in on a secret....you get players who do have the skills. Both Jones and Moloney have showed they can playcapable AFL footy. Junior is near finished as a footballer. McLean needs to perform Where you have players there to contest the mark on a 50/50 or better basis it always has been. Little has changed. Its common sense footballer that sides have been employing for years.
  2. Did you go yesterday to Casey or have you got caught up in some of the misguided hyperbole of hopeful supporters who did?
  3. Agree. Except for KB on SEN. Cant stand AW or MMM.
  4. I'd want more than one week of good performance from Newton before I put him in an MFC jumper again. The biggest issue is he just does not get it between the ears about what is required for AFL. Unless he sustains it over a couple of weeks in the VFL forget it. Flaky and as tough as warm custard. Good to see Robbo doing well with no restriction from his injury.
  5. Take Neither. Valenti is more of what we have in spades but dont need. Zomer needs to show he can actually compete at VFL level. Would I play either Valenti or Zomer in the AFL atm? No way so why elevate them??? Jamar is back in 5 to 6 weeks. Lets move on.
  6. McLean has some credence but I am buggered what Sylvia and Johnson provide in harder bodied play. Sylvia is a repeat off field problem who does not deliver on field. PJ is a 200cm rover who gets outbodied constantly in the ruck and is unaccountable. What fine role models these players are?
  7. Another case of you dont know and are substituting opinion in absence of evidence. We should let time run its course with Jurrah. He's a project player who may give us something. We'd be foolish not to explore the options under the situation.
  8. Can we keep this about the Cheer squad and deal with the other issue on the other thread? thanks. BTW, full marks to the Cheer squad, I thought they looked very impressive.
  9. This is no time to throw the baby out with the bath water. Maric, if fit, is a certainty to return. He oozes class. Newton is a five time flunk in the AFL. Until he evidences at Casey that he can apply himself I would leave him there. The footy dept clearly have concerns about Dunn if having done a full pre season, cannot break into a lowly injury ravaged team. He may play but his career must be on the line.
  10. He had started the season poorly in 2008. He strung a couple of good games before getting injured again. In his sixth year McLean has yet to consistently impact football games and your reference to him as our best midfielder is a tragic indication of where our midfield has been and is atm. FWIW, based on the two games this year, he is definitely MOR in the midfield. Hannibal aptly described him as a "good ordinary" player. Nah he is ordinary at the moment. Together with Davey (who was in our best today) the most overrated footballer on this site. Living on reputation with fewer runs than you think. Great logic. I would not pick Meesen or Newton until they demonstrate at Casey they have the where with all to cope with AFL. They are not close to it. If PJ needs to be dropped then I would let Spencer handle it with Martin pinch hitting. Meesen makes PJ look effective in the ruck. Either we punt PJ as a forward or we drop him. Cant wait till Jamar's back.
  11. Can we tone down the language guys? I dont like Collingwood and their supporters anymore than you all do. The swearing does not help a disgraceful situation all round.
  12. Completely agree. The supporters are no better than the players. Mind you doesn't the H-Sun love it. Friday front page....Collingwood player on aggravated assault charge. Possible Sunday front page...Pies Fans etc etc. What is it with that Club anyway? For those of you old enough to remember Victoria Park was the worst ground to go to for ferals.
  13. Contributed more better than some out there. B)
  14. Even you could see that McLean repeated turned the ball over today. He has been flaky at best. Nice goal from Morton at 55 metres.. Hope you cheered it.
  15. Maric. He wont get dropped because Jetta will go. But my point is that I dont think he has many runs on the Board. He has been very ordinary since 2007. I think you will note that in consecutive weeks that Beamer and Jones have not hidden behind the soft tagging excuse. His use of the ball when he got it was appalling. Drop PJ but dont embarrass us with Meesen.
  16. How do you know what tools he has? At times he resembles a box of hammers.
  17. With our major weakness... no. Maric aside, the kids are played because the experienced players are not up to AFL standard.
  18. Michael Hussey has more runs on the board that McLean. Take the glasses off Jaded. I would not play Meesen until he can show he can give something but I agree that PJ is just awful in the ruck. Problem is so is Meesen. I would think Bate, PJ, Sylvia, McLean should not relax at the moment. They are burning up credits fast.
  19. So what is "talent" if you dont perform?......a mirage <_< You have been sucked in by his draft number. Dont worry because Colin is too.
  20. Sounds like Sylvia doesn't it? Bet he wont. It would take him a month on current form
  21. I did not think he broke too many. Many of his possessions were easy uncontested dish offs and too many of his disposal were short passes not penetrating the oppositions lines. I dont think from the wieght of possessions really hurt the opposition. He does show that he has class I wish he could do more with the ball. I would expect opposition coaches will seek to nullify the easy handpass to Davey and make him more accountable. He was one of best today and has played much better for us in the past.
  22. 6. Jones 5. Warnock 4. Green 3. Morton 2. Davey 1. Bruce Special mention to Martin, Miller, Rivers and Frawley.
  23. Seven changes. Really?? Jurrah does not have the tank atm nor the performance for AFL. Newton- You're kidding. Whelan - not fit Valenti - Why would we elevate another one paced midfielder with limited skills. BTW, his form at Casey has been so so. Dunn - Is a chance...but isnt instructive than in an injury riddled team Dunn cant break in. Says something about him. Meesen - If he plays we would definitely have the worst ruck. Spencer's on a learning curve and in the 1st quarter actually gave us some really good centre clearances. PJ gave us nothing in the ruck. Overrated on this site. Maric - If he plays a full game at Casey this week....definite. 1/7 well done!
