  1. Agree absolutely. He was completely outbodied in the centre and at the stoppages. He also has poor no defensive pressure for a "mobile" player allowing his opposite ruckman two weeks running to drift in the F50 mark uncontested and goal.
  2. Garland is a terrible loss. Time for others to stand up.
  3. Agree. There is nothing wrong with posters putting up accurate information on this site. However they need to be careful that the information is provided in accordance with the Code of Conduct. However there are some posters who have a track record of pushing "facts" which are no more than their opinion. Its a case of being used to separating the wheat from the chaff. There is alot of chaff on here. But if a poster deliberately pedals information that is not true and is designed in someway to mislead users on this site, they can expect to be banned. There have been a couple of examples of this arise in 2009.
  4. You mean Didak! Interesting that Collingwood will only have one ruckman....Fraser in action. Now if he pulls a muscle early.... Its also good that the four new players are included again.
  5. Garland out....bugger. Buckley was a strong possibility to be dropped anyway. I hate seeing any player out with a groin! Time to pull the finger out Col. You can be sure the team will not line up as selected.
  6. I think he was always going to be challenged physique wise with certain aspects of the game. He is definitely one player that struggles with a tag.
  7. Hazy can answer for himself but he is on the record for congratulating the current administration for many of the sponsorship initiatives. But for any administration it is reasonable to ask questions about outcomes and accountability for these. Its a pretty dim world if that process cannot proceed in society. Nevertheless, Stynes and Co have indeed done well in a number of areas and should be congratulated. However, they dont deserve their public supporters gloating with some misplaced sense of superiority. The process that Stynes undertook was professional and smart to this. His inclusiveness of supporters has been good. But blind Freddy would have moved heaven and earth to get rid of that terrible soulless piece of knitted polyester.
  8. Fair comment about Sylvia and Newton. From reports, Sylvia did not dominate at Casey last week. Probably not but I have not seen Davey influence a game since 2006. Has he plateaued on field wise? I am rather surprised that posters have selected Newton. I know we are desperate up forward but I want proof that Newton is primed to achieve. I have seen him do cameos in the VFL where he dominates and you think that Newton has a future in the AFL. But that was three years ago and if he is not cutting the VFL up then I would not waste any further time with him.
  9. I dont think so for the current state of Test pitches. And the points are some of the issues you make undermine the value of the exercise particularly the last issue. The quality of a pitch can change dramatically over one year. Much depends upon the competence and integrity of ground management and administration. The English tour of the WI recently highlights this. I sometimes feel that curators are got at by Ground Management and TV rights stakeholders to provide "insurance" that the Test will go the full 5 days. They nullify the pitch for bowlers and effectively kill the contest between bat and ball by the end of day 1.
  10. Correct. Stuff it. I tossed the coin. Called incorrectly. Thanks for that. The results of a game often depend upon the quality of the teams playing, attitudes of the Captains, etc. If you are going to look at the results then you have to look at the components of each one. I reckon all of the Test results in Perth for the past 5 years or so have been on sub standard wickets. And I think its getting worse. However when you have over 1000 runs struck in a Test with less than 25 wickets taken over the 5 days then questions should be asked about the wicket. It happens way too often to pin it on the quality of the attacks.
  11. Tassie could be the 18th AFL team. http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2009/04/...8261636317.html Good on them but we cant have the Tassie Devils. One good point is that it drags easy cash away from the Hawks and will probably hurt their membership from the Isle. Nasher as a Taswegian, will we keep you or will you be lost to the local cause?
  12. It was a joke back then when the cooch grass caught some type of fungus and pitch was rubble. There is still a concern about the consistency of bounce in the MCG drop ins. Regardless the wicket quality list IMO is Sydney Brisbane Adelaide Melbourne Launceston Perth
  13. I agree rpfc. I made the comment about The Age's layout and then thought it bizarre that a journalist embedded in the Club for some months would make reference to a player that was no longer on the list. The sub editorial mistake was not correcting Flanagan's error before it went to print. No one was bagging Flanagan but you would think he was being held under false arrest by the way its dredged up all sorts hoopla and hysterics from assorted heroic snipers and chest beaters from under their little rocks. Amazing.
  14. Rivetting. Either sniping or gloating. You are a little gem. Dont knock yourself out with the power. BTW, I am glad you stand by the thread. Smarter people would have realised their folly.
  15. I agree. Careful Rogue. You'll upset the natives expressing a critical contrary view. You made a meal of one thread. Please dont hijack another and do the same.
  16. I wont hold my breath for your first worthwhile contribution either. Your shallow analysis on Craig Cameron ( http://forums.demonland.com/index.php?showtopic=13999) showed you up in your true light. BTW, it criticise not critique. You might want to focus on the sentence and see how ably you fit in that dim bucket.
  17. So what if I did not call the article "great". You are now trying to direct editorially how people respond to the article. Discuss it all you like. You just came onto the thread and big noted yourself. I had actually given a critique of the article and all you have been is on the sniping attack. Why would I need to do that Clap? It actually quite the opposite. We deserved a better spread given we have got a reporter embedded. I gave you my reasons why the mistake in conjunction with paper layout and size of article was disappointing. No. But they did get a good reporter who provided a much better blow by blow of the action in the Roos box than I thought was done for MFC. And guess what he did not refer to a player that is no longer around the Club. Great to have a hero on board. Now get over yourself. I certainly have.
  18. I think Perth is a very poor pitch at the moment.
  19. Not much as I have heard a number of descriptions of what happens in a Coaches box. Its a good read but a poor mistake especially given that Flanagan is embedded in Demons camp this season. Its not as though he just missed the name at a one off press conference The jaundice layout of the article in the paper and relative size of the article relative to the NM one made the MFC article look like an after thought. If anything I would have thought there should be action and interest in a coaches box when things are not going well. They werent for the Demons. I thought Connolly's article was superior. Glad you benefited.
  20. While Johson, Hahn and Murphy are very capable players, the skills of their midfield dont overcome their lack of a tall marking forward in the past. Its hampered them at times over recent years. I wonder how they deal with that this year.
  21. Clearly you have advertised yours, Thunderclap. Well done.
  22. Agree with that perspective. North have given their spectators tremendous run for their money over the past few years under Laidley. So what happens if North plateau this year with ageing warriors like Simpson and Harvey coming to the end of their careers? What's their membership and supporter base going to do then? While MFC has substantial problems, North is a veritable house of cards before a strong wind. The worst thing is that it appeared that the whole ground was open for attendances and based on the match day crowd of sub 30,000, I doubt if MFC made anything from the game (bar membership sales). We need to have the membership tents working hard on Saturday against the Pies.
  23. The Age did a spread on inside the Coaches box at the Melb vs NM game. The paper had a big photo of the NM box with Rohan Connolly sitting up the back. In the paper the red and blue comes out yellow and blue Can someone tell me where Martin Flanagan was when he compiled his story? VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE NOT NECESSARILY ONE THAT PROVIDES ENLIGHTENMENT "For three quarters, the Dees kept coming back. They lack a marking forward. Brad Miller is gallant, Jace Bode needs someone vigorous playing alongside him to create spaces for him." Jace Bode???? I think you mean Matthew Bate.
  24. Thought it was too complicated for you. Keep mincing the facts. BRFE has pantsed you, YM has made a fool of you and you cant even see it. Keep swinging slugger.
