  1. Our intensity at the ball and the tackling has improved immensely on last year. We are just not doing it for four quarters. FWIW, an assistant Coach for one of the AFL clubs we have played noted that MFC intensity for the contested ball and tackling was much improved from the previous year.
  2. Do you understand why Bailey has him tagging opposition players? Too increase his accountability for the contested ball and his capacity to actually win it. Dee-luded's observations are pretty fair assessment of Dunn.
  3. He's built like Tarzan but........ <_<
  4. Thanks for your confirmation of my perception of things, Geddy.
  5. You're not pessimistic in the least. You are just selective with a puerile axe to grind on the coach. You have perennially talked up the quality of our list over the past 15 months when it is clear to a blind monkey that there are gaping holes in quality and structure of the list that was inherited and the results continually show that You have tried to insinuate that Bailey had it easier than Matthew Knights in coming into the coaching game. Most recently you have even tried to fantasise the MFC midfield is on par with the Swans. Oh dear. Nothing could be further from the truth. But of course that does not suit your axe grinding. Its ironic that you consistently deride most posters on this forum for their level of football knowledge when you present such a woeful grab bag of whinging and pointed attacks on the Coach without ever putting forward a thoughtful or insightful alternative. You claim to listen to people who know football. From the factless tripe you serve up how would you possible know who these people are?? BTW, there are a number of posters on here that I am aware have followed MFC far longer than you. They have followed MFC through longer dark days than you brag about. They have clearly learned far more than you and dont have the need to parade "I said this..". They dont need to use their time as a supporter as a mindless sour grapes slag at the coach. Dandeeman like many other poster has summed you up perfectly... "Your arguments are nearly always flawed, incorrect and always self serving." I am glad you did think Hannibal's careful and measured optimism about the Coach is "spot on". Once again it makes your other condemnations unfounded, very silly and so self serving.
  6. Well said Hannibal. I think just after one year, its impossible to assess at this stage given the dramatic turnover of the MFC list and absence of quality senior players and leadership within the squad. Bailey has three years to swing the ship around. There needs to be continuing signs of improvement over that time if his tenure is to be extended.
  7. Johnson has had 7 years, 2 clubs, three coaches and cannot ruck, has no physical presence and does not man up his opposing ruckman in the defensive 50........ Bell has had 7 years under 2 coaches with poor awareness and questionable decision making........ The funny thing is Mo you dont get it and your last retort only proves it.
  8. Like I said Duh-wayne appeals "to a certain demographic." I did not realise it was far worse than I thought. Try to change the T..V.. station if it upsets you too much tulip. Otherwise get your Mum to do it.
  9. Maybe some of those players have already peaked and they are not good enough. Sylvia, Bell, Johnson and Dunn have big question marks as footballers and may not be on the list by year end. McLean is limited in attributes and fitness (if he is indeed playing injured at the moment. Thats 3 years of injury interruption) Some players like Bell and Johnson are 7 year players either under two coaches or two clubs and have shown they are not good enough. Bell is on his last chance if he gets back this time. PJ is rapidly burning his opportunities as a big man. Jones and Moloney are definitely better players than they were in 2007/08. But dont let any realism blindside you Mo it all the coaches fault. These guys are all stars and its the coaches fault that they are not better.
  10. I actually wonder about posters who get steamed up by Dwayne's comments. Throw away hot air pitched to a certain demographic. If you dont like him change stations.
  11. Interesting situation. Given the blow torch on Wallet and the side for their meek performances to date, they will either be stung into form and absolutely [censored] us or they will fall further apart and MFC might be able to snatch a win. I said might. Now is there any chance Kane Johnson could put together a video about a chicken called Benny......
  12. Quality trades will cost you. Given where our list is at, I doubt we would give up one of our first round picks for a trade. Dangerfield if fit and in form through his first season, would command at least a first round pick for starters. Offering them Sylvia would be embarrassing. And would he be prepared to come to MFC??
  13. The first time ever have I seen a trade on this site that actually puts the other team in a better position than MFC. 45 you cant be serious???? It would be a stinker of a deal for MFC. Seriously, I have said elsewhere. Sylvia is not an attractive trade at all for a Club. Injury riddled, off field attitude, lack of footy smarts and few good appearances in 6 years and 72 games. He is barely worth a 3rd round pick atm. Any lower then why would you bother chasing the deal. Also given what has happened in trade week in the past few year, which MFC players in a perennially underperformed side that MFC would be happy to trade would have any currency in the market place? I would suggest none. And why FFS, would we go for a Tambling or a Wells?? Haven't we got enough underachievers who cant win the contested ball?
  14. Rather than having a in bred mates club that has experienced 45 years of no success, how about we seek to recruit and hold the best possible candidates for Footy Dept roles?
  15. No. The LTI replacement is to bring forward a player who could provide a useful addition to your AFL side. He may be a direct replacement for the LTI player or address a current shortcoming. If a player is not ready to play AFL then there is no need to elevate a player. We have the pre-season and Casey to understand where our sub 22 players are at. I cant think why or who you would elevate now. From Saturday's Casey performance there is no rookie worth lifing at all. Given we have Watts, Blease and Strauss and possibly Bail to come through I think there is enough players to see what you have. Given we have a chronic problem with rucks and only three on the list, why would you delist Spencer at this point?
  16. Garland on the LTI for some time???? We can then take Spencer onto the main list anyway at mid year.
  17. Six years, 70+ games and you still have not worked him out.
  18. Why do posters put up trades that are so clearly biased toward MFC that an opposition club would be nuts to undertake?
  19. Replace Cheney's name with Dunn and you have it. Spencer is 19, raw and will improve. PJ is 25 and there are big question marks in his seventh season of football where he is at. I have posters saying he provides "experience" and " mobility". He does neither. And what worse he cant ruck to save himself. And he does not oppositions when he is up there His first three games have been horrible this year. I cant work out why he is a retention this week. We are up against Simmonds in the centre and I would rather go with a raw ruckman that will actually have a dip in centre and create space for smaller players than a 200cm rover.
  20. Its a good point. However, its also an achilles heel for Col. He will be exposed on the bigger grounds and opposition coaches know he has a short engine therefore they will make him run hard. When I think of O'Keeffe for Sydney and how hard he works, Col would be stuffed by quarter time! I think you would be the last poster waiting for Colin to be elite. What do you think a six year injury riddled, undisciplined, underperforming player with a limited tank in a bottom side would draw???? As a guide Farren Ray and pick 48 went for pick 31 last year. Why would any club risk a draft pick pre GC on a player who to date has been very ordinary?
  21. Brock has been injured this year (?), 2nd half of last year and most of 2007. He is a slow injury plagued one paced midfielder that does not make an impression on a game in poorly performed bottom side. How much currency would he have? And given MFC is starving of capable midfield types with leadership potential, are we better off trading him for a 2nd round draft pick at best (he aint worth a first round)? I think not. I didn't but remember to dry behind your ears. Bailey does not need to do what you have already achieved. See if you can work on the facts and substance and surprise both of us.
  22. Wallet is a dead man walking. I dont see how the MFC result, win or lose will change things. As they do at Richmond, the guns are being lined up in the dark to finish off another failed coach. Its a matter of time....tick, tick, tick.
  23. I am not sure what Sylvia adds to Sydney on or off the ground. Regardless, I think if any club is going to make a play or punt for him it will be in the PSD and not sacrifice draft picks. I agree though trading for anything past a third round pick (past pick 50) is hardly worth the effort.
  24. You take the opposition team coaches and footy department for dunces. Opp team third round pick = Sylvia plus our third round pick.
  25. Why??? Its a sad day when we have to specially position a bloke for the ball to find him because he cant find the ball. FFS, if he cant find it in the midfield he would struggle to find a spare ball in the bag behind each goal. Not for much longer at this rate. I think Col's cards are well and truly marked at this stage of his career. A suspension would not augur well for his future. At this point he is not worth a cracker in a trade. If he does not improve, he is gone to the PSD or suburban footy. If he does improve (dramatically) he might get a 1 or 2 yr contract on limited $$$.
