  1. Beautiful Jetta??? Hardly. Newton I doubt... Jurrah...still a project player. Its called his second effort! I cant work out why he just lay on the ground. He was fine when he got up. I guess Its just Robbo again. Two weeks he demonstrated leadership flat on his back. This week he showed leadership flat on his stomach.
  2. Some of his decsion making and his disposal is really second rate. And that comes from above the shoulders. And he is sllooowwwwww! And around Beamer and Jones , the three molasses brothers looker slower.
  3. Good post. The good sense will be lost on the torch wavers and the witch burners that lurk here.
  4. 6.Sylvia 5. Absolute daylight 4.Jamar 3.Grimes 2.Cheney 1.Jones
  5. I actually thought it was the other way around. Junior, Green, Wheels, Robbo, Bruce had absolute shockers. Davey was seen in patches and McLean was like molasses Today is one of the reasons a number on the senior list will pensioned at year end. They are not up to it.
  6. Bell I agree with but Jamar??? He is not great but who is challenging for his position? Meesen....subject to injury? Spencer....I hope he improves quickly! PJ...You're kidding. That player is the ultimate nut tickler. Cant ruck but not sure what else he does.
  7. I dont normally agree with Joeboys assessments but this week I thought he was close to the mark on nearly all players.
  8. JJC, I think you are correct. While he may not have played in the GF he certainly played for Sandy at not too infrequent times over the course of his career. He should hardly be an unknown even to the most reclusive VFL commentator. Cleary may be fine for the nostalgia in a footy flash backs segment but he provides little content when it comes to the state of the game. Since his retirement from football, Cleary has been a public figure as a VFL/VFA commentator and as a State MLA for the Coburg region. It was worked out then that Cleary had a big mouth with little substance from it. However, post his political career, his activism and lobbying efforts against domestic violence following a family tragedy are both notable and laudable.
  9. It is a legitimate competition where the AFL has two clubs that field their own teams and have no VFL affiliation. In addition a VFL side can have up to 12 AFL listed players playing. Is Phil aware of that? Miller has made a number of forays into the VFL over the years and I suspect he has played in one or two Sandy flags. Phil not aware of that either??? It makes your analogy with Malcolm Blight at best misplaced. There is a reason why Phil is restricted to boundary riding given in the past "Cleary is merely commentating on what is happening on the ground at the time,..". He does not see much these days and clearly has not for a while.
  10. Cleary's "nous" does not translate to the commentary box. Your post below vindicates it. The AFL/ VFL alignment happened 10 years ago and the fact he would not be aware of what an AFL listed player has done only shoots hole in your comment "he knows what VFA/VFL football is all about". He clearly doesn't.
  11. Oh dear. Whether you are talented like Ablett, Franklin or a have limited skills like a Miller or Presti, to succeed in AFL football individually or as a team your work ethic is vitally important. Talent alone wont carry through. Its what defines the great teams is their abililty to work hard both with and when they dont have the ball. Miller will always be a valiant contributor who will rarely dominant games but at least you know he his on field work rate, contesting, athlieticism and leadership are rarely in doubt. His role will be superceded in two years time when better options hopefully mature and develop. But at least he can say at the end of his career that he gave his all. I dont think thats something Newton can do. Newton's biggest problem is above the shoulders. He can mark, he can kick (sometimes), he can do some good things on the field but mentally has not worked out what is required to succeed at AFL. Until he can demonstrate that he has the will and composure to consistently compete and dominate at VFL level then his opportunities at higher levels are going to be limited. If Newton does actually show something at VFL level in the coming weeks he should be elevated to MFC and barring injury, suspension or a repeat of any further bog ordinary efforts should be given 4 weeks to strut his stuff. If he does not make it then at AFL level his future and contract at MFC is indeed uncertain.
  12. Phil Cleary has to be VFL's answer to Dougie Hawkins. Heaps of experience but absolutely reflects no nous when reading the play. Cleary is in a time warp and struggles with what going on in the middle. No some posters are attached to him. BTW, his interview this with Miller was poor and his starting question about Miller's age was for what reason? It was as inappropriate as his interview of Michael Newton some weeks ago winning BOG and Phil just spoke about Jack Watts. Newton was not too impressed in the interview and rightly so. Cleary is as relevant to the modern game as the drop kick. Its no surprise they have him as boundary rider not in the commentary box anymore.
  13. Agree and after 20 minutes of the puerile and lightweight banter on the Footy show, I could not be bother. Its a base level program at best with the same jokes being re hashed ad nauseam. Thank God Watts is not like the false promise Tilbrook. Diamond Jim was overhyped nothing. But boy Tilbrook could kick a football a mile when he did actually get it. W Jack did a great piece on the shattered hopes over Tilbrook.
  14. I was actually congratulating Clint for coming on and sharing a good experience. Get over yourself. I have.
  15. Agreed. It always welcome when posters are prepared to compliment the Club or its sponsors when they have a good experience with them. Too often these forums become a beating ground for the club on matters that are raised in manner and basis to suit the anonymous poster not actually addressing the problem by calling the club. All power to Kaspersky I say if their client service /technical help is good.
  16. I would be surprised if this year is not Wheatley's last year. Bucks may be unlucky come year end.
  17. Exactly right Graz. Its ironic that due to the AFL PP drafting rules, there is more spice and intrigue at the bottom of the ladder with the bottom 4 or 5 than at the top of the AFL ladder where Geelong and St Kilda are peerless at the moment. The fixture draw is very very interesting indeed. I have no doubt in the world that Woosher has his eyes on the PP but his room to move is limited. And the Tigers move on Wallace is calculated notwithstanding the comedy that they have enacted around this issue. As much as I hate the filth (and all the other clubs too!), MFC need to be careful with the "winnable" games that that it has this year. And as Graz says our objective should be no more than 4 wins and finish below WCE and Richmond.
  18. Now Wallace is gone this should set the dominoes going on other coaches out of contract this year. Collingwood would be waiting to see when MM loses his opportunity to coach finals this year before installing Buckley. I think Eddie already has Buckley locked in. Woosher and Harvey should also be sweating a bit as well.
  19. Thanks for the update Rude Boy. Keep them coming. He is an exciting and challenging prospect.
  20. Akin to throwing out the baby out with the bath water. Lets not let unneeded desperation get the better sense of playing players before they are deemed ready for AFL.
  21. Maybe. But I think both are still raw at VFL level.
  22. I think Hughes and Jurrah are further away from selection than the optimist think. Both have nice touches at VFL level. Neither had dominated at this stage and IMO are not as close to being called up.
  23. Correct. I recall Wallet said at that time that he could not take this side (Bulldogs) any further. This enraged a number of the senior players including Brad Johnson who wanted him out. As Leigh Matthews said its not good practice to be chasing another senior coaching job when you are currently senior coaching another side. He did not deserve the Sydney job and Richmond have got what they deserved over the past 5 years with Wallet and Miller. Its been a dismal failure and many D'land posters questioned the wisdom of the appointment at the time. Here's hoping that Richmond return to its winning ways enough to finish 9th miss out on a PP and a well back in the draft offerings.
  24. Agree. I think Newton has one life left to make it as an AFL footballer. This may be it. Fair comments on all points. Even PJs most ardent supporters recognise he cant ruck
