  1. When you "explain" make sure you actually answer the question asked. I dont care about other Clubs giving away players. I am asking why would GC chase MFC outcasts given MFC have more ordinary footballers because we are a truly bottom ranked club. These players are not good enough and most of these players futures belong in interstate, country or suburban leagues If its the Herald Sun, then more fool you. Caveat emptor! If the Hun says that GC are only pinpointing players who kick it with pinpoint accuracy then why would they chase a player or players with poor disposal skills? Begs a questions doesn't it
  2. Excellent stuff Einstein. Only watched the 1988 PF against Carlton and the following memories: 1. It was an absolutely wet day 2. High number of goals kicked along the ground. 3. Gary Lyon's 60 metre bomb goal. 4. Strawbs report which I thought hurt MFC for the following week. Most of all, its always good beating Carlton.
  3. Agree on both counts with Riewoldt and Cooney. There was never doubt about Cooney's ability just the delivery of it. There was always a questions about Farren Ray
  4. Stretchwas indeed an excellent player and to rank his career just on avoiding a near death collision is folly for the fool minded. You could do better that label Morton the same way. The kid is 19 in a side with no leadership and is being pulverised. He got a chance to address that and realise what footy is about. He has a great package of skills to display at this level. Defintely the player we need patience and support for.
  5. Why would they be so keen to scoop our NQR players??? There are 15 other Clubs that surely would offer better talent but no you're convinced they will chase ours. Get the picture. Did the Brisbane Times suggest that GC were chasing Qld born players who cant kick?
  6. Jack Viney wont be qualified for his drivers licence then.
  7. Where have they stated they are after Petterd and what would they offer a bloke that cant cut a game in a bottom club. Isaac Weetra is actually still young do you think they would go for him. The only reason they would take Miller is to repatriate him in a family reunion documentary. You got to do better than that. Rivers won the Rising Star in 2004 and since then has had 2 years or so of OP and lacks pace, flaky kick and does not body strength for KPPs. Why oh why would they want to be like MFC?
  8. I think this article was his best so far. Its a pity more posters on this site have not read it. There is some good food for thought for the torch carrying angry supporters who want to push emotive and often ill informed theories about what is going on. I actually thought this article would have got more attention here for the issues it hits on.
  9. What do you think GC will seriously give for any one of those at best lineball players in a bottom ranked club? You must take them for wet eared patsies What would you do with Buckley and McNamara then?
  10. Good post DD. Many wont realise it though.
  11. I think we need two class mids not one to help solve our midfield issues.
  12. Given the morale sapping losses recently and the impression of the toll of the long season on young bodies, I think MFC should give their best and brightest hopes the opportunity to really have a go at WCE as a win would be a wonderful tonic for the players efforts. If we lose to WCE and the same young players are struggling, I would: 1. Drop Morton and Bennell and let them get some confidence back in the VFL. Watts probably gets another week. 2. Rest McLean if indeed he is injured. 3. Play Valenti, Dunn, Newton, Wheatley and Bell so they can play for their careers, possibly (long bow) get some trade value and collateral damage against have the kids get confronted with losses. 4. Bring in Jamar and drop PJ. I would love to drop dead weights like Robbo (not the only one) but if we are to sustain continuing heavy losses that are going to sap morale then I would rather he and his like copped them
  13. If so then Wheatley, Newton and Dunn wont be picked. All three have little of either so far.
  14. Agree with Jarka, Nasher and BRFE. They have nailed it on Dunn. The ultimate tweener. Its unbelievable the blinding veil over some supporters eyes.
  15. Brisbane are doing much better this year under Voss than Matthews. The senior players revolted last year and were refusing to play under Matthews. Brown would not re-sign until Matthews has gone. And TJ...... Matthews gave a 1st round draft pick to actually get TJ.....a lazy, unaccountable, culture sore. Yes let get Lethal....Unbelievable
  16. from the VFL. Is he another of your flawless good kickers unfairly held back at Casey? There is a reason he does not cut in the AFL even when MFC are that bad. See if you can work out why.....
  17. Possibly a smirk and maybe a roll of the eyes from the opposition recruiting managers. Nothing more We have a terrible side all year and Dunn cant crack a spot in the team. He cant play forward or midfield because he is timid. And given Sydney has will lose two iconic forwards by year end, they will be rebuilding with talent not turnips. And if you do believe that then you take Sydney for being bigger chumps than you're making out to be. His value is akin to Chris Johnson. Why would any Club accept two monumental NQRs like Bell or PJ and why would they take on either 7 year AFL failures for even a 4th or 5th round pick? Why would they be that stoopid? Well they certainly aint...at least. If Petterd is not contracted this year then his name is on the list to potentially go. He wont but you are dreaming that GC will operate a family welfare repatriation program to reunite struggling Qld born footballers with their family. If he cant kick and cant get a game at MFC then he is no value to others. Do you think we should have hocked around Isaac Weetra at the trade table before we cut him last year? You never know....
  18. How? What would you give up that is surplus to our needs that would get us that top 15 pick from another Club?
  19. In a poor showing by MFC last night, I saw glimpses of Watts and Jurrah that give hope for the future up forward that Newton has not done and does not do now. No one at Casey put there hand up for selection to the AFL. Some have put forward Cheney but I thought Mitchell Stack for Willy outclassed him. I cant see many changes unless there are injuries/illnesses or the selectors have been to Crown.
  20. Which young gun under 25 are you talking about or you bragging about shooting the breeze? Outside Judd, Kruezer, Murphy, Gibbs which established player would you take. The chances are we wont be trading it.
  21. If Brock is actually playing injured (and its not confirmed that he is), then this might be the only excuse he might have for his performance. His lack of pre season may not assist either. But you can hide behind these excuses for so long. I have said before he had plateaud over the past three years. He is either not good enough or not fit enough (injuries) for AFL. Also having run of the mill similar type midfielders in Jones and Moloney does not help the situation. This will be another season we get two thirds of a season from Brock marked by too few highs, considerable mediocrity and growing concern.
  22. We would look completely foollish trying to go to the trade table with duds like Dunn, Bell and PJ. How dumb could a Club be to offer more than a 4th round pick for the lot plus a set of steak knives? In this draft then why would you bother. I dont know for sure who is contract for next year but........ Bartram- Keep because I have cut others Martin- Keep Bell- definite delist. Seven years and he battles in the VFL. Good bye Bate- keep P.Johnson- delist Jamar- keep Miller- keep Petterd- Gold Coast 2011?? How tight do you reckon their blind folds are? Dunn- Typical VFL tweener. Keep because I have cut others. Newton- Contracted for next year. Bugger Wheatley- retire/delist Buckley- rookie delist Valenti- rookie delist Zomer- rookie delist Hughes- rookie delist Meesen- contracted. We need seven off the list at year end. Its becoming easier and obvious who goes? Any of the above being keeps will be done so on modest contracts.
  23. Would have been called the Far.. medal then. B)
  24. No he has not. He has said we need another class midfielder and KPF. Deledio was the best available like Scully in his year. Tambling was the issue. Roughhead and Buddy were top ranked in the draft. Butcher may not. On what evidence do you have that Trengove with go "home" BTW, we have recruited Smith (1st rnd pick), Molan (1st round pick), Breeze (2nd round pick) and some others over the years since Ox and Neitz.
