  1. Correction. We cannot get more than 4 wins. ....repeat 4 wins. We get 4.5 wins and we lose the PP. Given how poor we have been we will struggle to beat anyone unless they are tanking. And why would we give them a free leg up on the draft rankings? You are dreaming about the outcome and the likelihood with Chris Johnson. His form at Carlton only confirms where he was at MFC. I am not sure you will show Warnock or Judd anything at all.
  2. The Club is always aim high. We have not been good enough to challenge in a number of games this year or last year. And next year could be tough as well. Dont you think the Footy Department is trying to change the culture and educated and create a high standard of excellence? How long do you think its takes young players without strong and active leadership around them to achieve it. The path travelled and to be travelled has been hard and will be hard. Its part of the learning experience. BTW, there was no change to the game plan. We had a team with strong emotional drivers (eg Stynes), a focus on following coaching instructions and an unbelievably benign and weakened opposition.
  3. Then its a fact. Its cant be disputed at all. I am not surprised in the least if you rumour is actually fact. Is your reference to Yze, Adem Yze's brother? A Yze currrently plays with BH Hawks
  4. Not A graders at this point. The midfield would have to step up big time to equal the Cats current midfield and Brisbane's early this century.
  5. That's your job Dappa. You could have fooled me about your time. Anyway, enjoy having your nuts tickled by our premier ruckman. You deserve a little joy in what seems a hard life. B)
  6. 45, Newton and mabe even PJ are contracted for next year. They wont be paid out early. Valenti and Hughes are rookies that have been elevated onto the main list. They will be rookies at year end and I would suggest that they are likely to go. This does not affect the main list.
  7. No we just contracted them past their useful lives. How do we figure we dont want to lose too many players at year end. There is a bit of logjam if you look closely. I'd have Robbo at the front of the queue. If Newton had performed I suggest that Robbo's window of opportunity would be even smaller. And I am not sure what Robbo gives us in team building and younger player development. In all honesty he is poor example of what is required on the ground
  8. We dont. He will be superceded by younger players with a better work ethic and commitment to the team cause. I am not sure we have lost anything more than a bleedin' hearts favorite for supporters who cant recognise the hard decisions that have to be made on list management at year end. And I dont think Robbo is one of the hard decisions to make.
  9. Chill baby. Grudges like that can kill you. I have no problem with the flag medallion. At his peak he was an elite player. From when I saw him in a practice match at Visy park, he was a cheap schoolyard bully who chose to "fight" Garland and Morton and not go the football contest. Its over. There have been many worse who have won medallions and been ordinary footballers. The Dogs might punt on him but its definitely caveat emptor.
  10. The Club should have learned alot from "gifting" pension years to Yze and White in recent years. Robbo's time is up and it has been for a while. Thanks for the memories but you are not part of the future or the culture that is required with it.
  11. You are right there. Possible: Richo - Retire - No Brown - Retire - No Schultz - Delist - No Pettifer- Delist - No Riewoldt is a must keep for the Tigers
  12. Firstly, well done High Tower on the analysis. I have seen similar analysis of list agings elsewhere some time ago and its interesting when you compare clubs against each other. Secondly, its likely that the average age and games experience of the MFC list next year will fall further as a number of senior players are retired at year end. Thirdly, I think people talking about finals next year are in for a potential reality check. Given the list will still be so young it is possible that we could be in for a tough year next year. I hope we can reflect significant improvement next year but I would be surprised if there was a quantum leap next year that would involve finals action.
  13. Spot on. As useful as a golfer that cant putt.
  14. By hitting a player off the play??? Gutsy stuff that and it will really gain us respect. How about first we win the contested ball and then the hate and the fear will come. Sylvia sent a bigger message when he took that brave mark against Collingwood and in the contest contact put Maxwell physically out of commission. Thats making a statement that makes teams notice. Not the sniping cheap stuff he got suspended for.
  15. We dont honestly need to tank. Its a misnomer. However we are going to play sides during the rest of the year who will definitely be tanking. We are clearly the worst side in the competition. We need the access to the best young players. The issue that stinks is the AFL rules. And we should be playing to manufacture the best possible outcome for the Club for the future. And it is not a series of meaningless wins against half hearted clubs seeking to improve their draft position at the junk end of the season.
  16. Absolutely. I cant believe the naivety of those posters welcoming the suspension to get the PP. A player has just put a real black mark to his name by act that was brainless and crude. Nothing to celebrate there. Sylvia at his best is extremely important to us. He cant afford another lapse of concentration as future penalties are going to be harsh. Expecting more from Colin as I am still remembering the 60 metre goal on Saturday.
  17. Essendon have stated that they will go it alone next year and dispense with the Bendigo alliance. Its not surprising the alliance on the field is faltering. I suspect Bendigo will fold and leave the VFL if they cant find another alliance. I understand that going it alone is not a viable option for them.
  18. I doubt that. And since when did Cats fans have a say in that. The Cats rated Moloney so highly that they got rid of him to get a part of premiership ruckman. The Cats won hands down with this. We are still waiting on the payback for pick 12 understanding Beamers crud run of OP.
  19. You dont know so why did you raise it? Another case of making an excuse for sake of it. Brock wont be getting time and space against good teams or haven't you noticed. His performances were workmanlike and honest not dominant. Pulling out numbers of possessions to suit an argument relies does play to seeing what you want to see. And given the position he plays getting a lot of possessions should be perfunctionary not necessarily a vindication. Correct. Thats my point. He is not a great footballer nor is he likely to be the no 1 midfielder. Its got nothing to do with inside and outside. He is required to play midfield and win possessions. You have claim he is doing that effectively then you are .....making more excuses. Sylvia has played really well in the past four games and against Richmond. He will play less games than McLean. If Sylvia does then doesn't that shine a light on our Brock. Davey....I agree with. Lets see its Davey, Syvlia....Bruce??.... Person X then McLean. If he is as good a player as you are flapping on with, he would be winning the B&F or top 2 in a crap team. But then again...you will find excuses.
  20. But he does so on his terms not the teams. That's why he is selfish. Attempting to kick goals on your back rather than do what is right for the team is how he visualises his contribution. His bread and butter should doing what is best for the team at all times. 12 years of AFL football and he cannot work it out. Its an indictment on the Club and reflection of its supporters who cant work that out and keep me ridiculous exceptions for a player who repeatedly costs the Club because he will not/can not commit to the team ethic.
  21. Whatever he is doing, its not good enough. And even on your rose coloured terms you are best splitting hairs. He got three or four easy receive goals and gave one up with a poor second effort. He wasn't near the best. But he did play at the best Robbo can. He is a shadow of the player he was and the game has found him out. The only games he has dominated in over the past three years have been sides that have flown the white flag or not manned up on him. Its once in a couple of months that he plays a game like Saturday and all the parrots are out. Hardly. His B & F positioning is as much a reflection of the crap midfield he is in as regard his game. And BTW, I have judged him over the three year period. Why do continually have a problem with that? Brock may be accountable because you carry on with such a grab bag of superfluous excuses. But you are not in the assessment of him. Jaded, I have never questioned the effort just the output. And I will applaud him when he plays well (like I have) and I will critique him when he does not. That making someone accountable. "If he physically cannot run or is struggling to kick because of his ankle.." . OK so he could kick yesterday so he could not have an ankle problem??? Oh of course we he does not play well, he has an ankle problem. The concern was we played an outfit that is going through the motions without Cox and Kerr that applied little pressure. around the ground. You are right. He cant do it on his own. He wont have a winning ruck each week. He wont have so much space to move in against good team. Is he only good against weak sides? Exactly. He is good ordinary footballer that needs better players than him around him to compete against the better sides You wanted him dropped and a week later he is a "great player". Were you comparing the FD to yourself? Brock has played all games so far this year and if plays 22 games he should be a shoo in for a top 3 B & F seeing as he is great player and the engine room of our team. If there are four other players ahead of him given the performances and given the injuries we have had, I would call his achievement a further vindication of why he has plateaud. But I am sure you will have any number well meaning excuses to explain it away.
  22. Thats the problem Jaded. He has not improved sufficiently. Any improvement is coming off a very low base. And as you point out he cost us a goal by staying down to long. That is a black mark full stop. Its damning and in Robbo's case more of the same. Its overrides any recognition of an allegedy brave effort. Can't you see that? You miss the point if you think its matter of tallying the good and not so good efforts. It isnt. The good 2nd efforts are mandatory and must be done each and every time. There is no compromise. AFL is unrelenting. Robbo has not worked that out and neither have a few supporters Are you judging on one game or seeing what you want to see? So how do you explain his other performances Jaded this year? Great you thought he should dropped. I didn't unless he was injured. McLean is a great player but is injured .......right. For someone who made a big stand about when a player runs out he is a 100% accountable you have repeatedly walked around that with Robbo and McLean its a bizarre You had routinely had a go at me in another thread for making a judgement about McLean over a 3 year period. And during that thread you completely made an arse of yourself for repeatedly misrepresenting my point of view in my statement. Are you for real or you dont think before you hit the key board?
  23. Can you explain that to Brad Johnson of the Western Bulldogs? So what you are saying is that he is too old to put in and only puts in on his terms when he thinks it will make a difference? Selfish isnt it? Its never a matter of choosing when you to go hard or not in AFL. No wonder he should be gone at seasons end. I am sure the other younger players know all about that and I wonder if he was a topic at a team meeting called by the younger players He was very ordinary against Collingwood, Essendon and Brisbane. And he was "the engine room" in a dreadful midfield in each of those games. I share your desire that he be fully fit and prepared in 2010. However when he does play well (too few times) he receives accolades and rightly so but when he does not play well...he is injured. Hopefully the Footy Dept can get their minds beyond such illogical thinking and judge McLean more objectively. There is a reason why MFC need Scully and Trengove. They will hopefully develop into the true class midfielders that MFC supporters dream of. And by consequence allow McLean to provide more on the ground as part of the midfield rotations.
  24. If they throw in a set of steak knives its a compelling deal. He is exactly the player we dont want. It would be a waste of a PSD pick.
