  1. If Hawkins has only 10% improvement left in him then I will be p1$$ed off if Watts is not alot better than him after 3 to 4 years. Hawkins didn't need to bulk up. He came near that size when he started. Watts is a different player and hopefully a far better talent. I rather Watts watch Police Academy tapes. Hawkins may struggle to hold his spot if Ottens comes back and Pods is kicking goals.
  2. Both limited players who bust a gut...but they are limited and get found out against top shelf talent. Both will be under pressure to survive in the midfield in coming years with Scully, Trengove, Morton, Grimes, Gysberts, Davey, McKenzie...
  3. You have just proved my point. Different type of player. Different level of talent. Ugh!
  4. Firstly no AFL player is "soft". Its a term used by posters who have nothing smarter to say about a player. And if you think he is "soft" and he not a good ruck or forward option, then why would you bother wasting a PSD. If thats the best in the PSD, I would take a younger player who might actually make an impact in AFL rather than someone who struggles at the level.
  5. At times, his attitude and his focus was not where it should have been. He had great career at MFC but the game started to pass him by from 2006 onwards when there was a greater requirement for player to be mobile, accountable with good defensive skills. Many of Robbo's 2nd efforts were non existent as he could not keep his feet and his tendency to play the millionaire acts were sometimes done the detriment of the team.
  6. And Cameron Wood...... Two first round picks consumed to resolve a problem caused by a an ordinary No 1 pick.
  7. Not the guy who wouldnt buy a membership???? B) You have to love those people who make such a silly stand as if its going to have an impact. An ultimate lose-lose outcome. Not in the eyes of the coaches. A player born with a great leap and no 2nd efforts
  8. If they cant do anything but ruck then what is the use of them as a 2nd ruck? Why would you just recruit for depth if they would be competing with Spencer and GAWN. If they are not getting a game in front of Jacobs then clearly they are no further along the progress path We should be doing that anyway. PJ gives us zip. His position will be taken by a rookie and Spencer will be elevated. That's the issue. We need a player to pinch hit in the 2nd ruck role
  9. I think BRFE is correct. Pods will be too strong for Rivers and Bruce should have the capacity to cover Johnson. I'd like the idea of Frawley running iPod around and making him accountable.
  10. I dont believe MFC would have taken Kruezer at 1 if they had him. We had pick 4 in that draft and we were rapt to have got Morton. I understand that Cotchin was preferred to Kruezer. Although for a ruckman Kruezer if very promising. If we did get Kruezer we would not have been taking Nik Nat who in IMO has all the media heat but is still raw and unproven.
  11. He played on PJ that day. Luke Ball could have broken out on top of him I reckon the other side would be desperate for a ruckman....Maybe the Hawks....before posters stitch the Hawks up with a one side deal involving Meesen or PJ for their first round pick.
  12. At this point I wouldnt. Given where the game is at, the days of carrying a limited use beanpole on the pine to pinch hit for 5 minutes each quarter is a luxury few can afford? Warnock was supposed to be No 1 ruck to allow Kruezer to go forward more. In fact Kruezer is No 1 ruck and Warnock cant play forward.
  13. Why wouldn't we develop from the list we have than pay for a proven NQR who is not part of the Pies plans and should not be part of ours? And you wanted peoples thoughts.....and they are pretty clear cut....relax hey? B)
  14. Agree. All the PR hoopla and match payments aside, I would not be wanting to have to do a road trip like that again if we were in finals mode.
  15. No No No No No No. A balloon would float more effectively in the forward line than Fraser. Insipid attitude and no physical presence. A wet sponge of a big man. Jolly is not doing much at the Pies. Wood is being played as a second ruck and he isnt much. What does this say about Fraser? Pass
  16. At their respective primes all those senior players were good to very good AFL players. But as a consequence of age, battle scars and the pace of the game each of these players had fallen off the pace considerably in their final few years. It was the same with White and Yze. MFC did what they had to do and did so professionally and respectfully. We are much better off for making some of those hard decisions on those ageing warriors and trading Trapper and Brock.
  17. It actually a reasoned sensible opinion so its no surprise you would react with capitals. I am sure you will keep an eye on Grimes in case he kicks backwards or is undiscipline.
  18. Ugh. They're both 18 and both have been playing hard at it in the guts in the first season. They were always going to be rested at some time. Darwin was a sapping trying experience especially for young bodies. Agree
  19. Bailry has said the same thing over the past 3 years. He has been consistent. Its takes some players that long to get the message
  20. Cats firing. Cats at home and have not been beaten there in 3 years. They have had an extra day's break with no interstate travel. MFC played any putrid sapping conditions in Darwin and some players lost 1.5kgs as well as pulling up sore and physically spent post match. I dont think MFC have a realistic chance. I hope they will win but I dont believe they will all things considered.
  21. Possibly they should have if the extent of the problem was known then. Clearly, the games that have been held at the GABBA since have given rise to the problem and the hardness of the ground may have worsened during that time. There is clearly an issue now and as another poster wrote if the softening of the surface prevents the occurrence of injuries then I am all for it. But lets not stop the ugh ugh crowd lighting their torches and....
  22. The Gabba ground has been a joke this year. And there was talk of moving games to Carrara. Its pity this discussion has become a Pie bashing thread when the Gabba playing surface is the problem
