  1. Outstanding analogy. Captures the player perfectly.
  2. Lack of leg strength. A 196cm player requires significant leg strength to compete body on body and to maintain balance. He does not have that leg strength yet. However it was frustrating watching him unable to make a couple of contests.
  3. No its called greater pressure applied by one side on another. It comes down to how the players react and respond to the pressure. A few senior players left alot to be desire. But Bailey should have a plan B for sides that "bash us up" in the first quarter...really
  4. This could aptly apply to Dunn over the past six years and that other gun we have. You know the guy with no flaws...Michael Newton. Ugh!
  5. Must make Miller almost Peter Hudson like. Correct. I can recall Dunn actually dropping numerous easy marks inexplicably. Six years in the system and has shown little to date. He has a day out in the VFL (and well done on that) and all of a sudden poster appear from no where that have had there memory bank erased. Weird. Hardly. So we missed a forward who made some bad errors and missed some set shots and then was extremely unlucky to get dropped. Gotcha. If there is one thing that Dunn struggles to provide is an effective phyisical contest. Dunn is 23 has had six years and 59 games in the AFL. If he cant work it out then how many more years does it take. He gets moved around because he cannot command a position in the team as his own. He does not have to readjust his play he just needs to display the pluck to win the contest ball and to ehhibit the skills required to be an AFL footballer.
  6. Versatile?? More a master of none who had a day out at Casey. A week ago all these know alls about Dunn were very quiet. He has been a terrible and repeated disappointment at AFL level. We have not got a functioning forward line and after a full pre season Dunn cant nail a position in the side. Hmmm For 8 goals at Casey he deserves his opportunity (once more) to grasp a role at AFL level. I did not see the performance but I hope it is a sign that he has turned the corner and not a demonstration of the expanding gap between the AFL and the VFL. But after six years and 60 games on the list, I have yet to see any aspects that suggest he is more than a trier who is borderline AFL at best. A poor return to date on pick#15 in 2004.
  7. He and another 43 players there who were playing in the wet.
  8. Why sacrifice our backline? He can learn it at Casey. If he cant show it there he aint going to do it in the AFL. He was very ordinary today. Very ordinary.
  9. Yes lets sacrifice our backline over one player. If he going to learn that role he can do it at Casey. He needs to show a bit of hunger.
  10. Worked a treat against the Bulldogs. We were asleep for the first quarter and half and our use of the ball was appalling. Our lack of midfield pressure was very very poor early.
  11. At times it did seem to bother Moloney as he regularly turned the ball over to a Carlton player. He is not the smartest user of the ball.
  12. 6. Gysberts 5. Morton 4. Grimes 3. Moloney 2. Jamar 1. Green
  13. Yep Well said. He learnt how to lose his footing off Robbo.
  14. I scrolled through some old Brock McLean emails from 12 months ago and there are some posters that must wish they hadn't posted blue murder when Brock was traded. It does look as though Hannibal was right all the way through that period. Not only were we KOTD I think we got more. Fascinating reading. Its looking like a spanking deal considering Ball went in the mid 20s. Go Dees.
  15. Good point. I should also have added the rookies like Jordie McKenzie.
  16. On progress to date its been a poor investment and they have got little. I am glad MFC did not get him on that basis. Not happy to give long contracts to unproven players. But not at that price and length of contract. This might be a bullet missed by MFC. We seemed to have done well in the past few years in different situations 1. Warnock 2. Prismall 3. McLean 4. TJ 5. 2009 PP
  17. Morton has had seven years in the system at two clubs where he has demonstrated poor application, selfish or bad attitude and no team discipline. Another talented footballer who cant grasp whats required at the top level. No flaws Newton is in the same bag. They are a dime a dozen. And there are enough cases to confirm that you can and should say no to player because of attitude and work ethic. I wonder how St Kilda feel about "rolling the dice" on Lovett, Bulldogs with Akermanis and Richmond with Polak, Cousins, Taylor and Connors (and Morton). Given Jonathan Brown's groin is killing his career within 2 years then Brisbane have their own problems with Fevola. Carlton are a better side to be rid of him. And btw its Podsiadly ....James Podsiadly
  18. Which Clubs had the same retirement and injury problems coupled with bad facilities/resources and the salary cap and Board civil wars? Daniher was not perfect by any stretch but talk about coaching with one hand tied behind your back.
  19. If Garland was actually fit then Rivers would have been dropped.
  20. Can he play small to start with? Not fast enough for the smalls. Not strong enough for the talls. He would really want to do better than rely on that. Dropping marks and poor disposal are not the hallmarks of a leader.
  21. Hmmm, maybe because they dont play the same role. Cheney is not an ideal replacement for Rivers. But Rivers should have been dropped IMO. The saving grace for Rivers is Garland. Garland appears to have been selected but I think he will be a late withdrawal.
  22. Since when is choosing the best option over possessing the ball? We have just pensioned off the last of players who lived by the GOTY, MOTY behaviour. Maybe we could organise a trade of a no flaws forward for a very skilful player in the VFL.
  23. in the AFL or VFL??? Remember we will also be losing that no flaws forward in Newton so that will leave a big hole at Casey. If you look at our forward set up: HF: Sylvia, Watts, Tapscott/Green/Davey F: Wonna, Jurrah,Petterd Then you have Martin in the wings potentially..... Do we need to recruit another lazy and unaccountable footballer? I dont see him as a replacement for Petterd even if Petterd were leave. Its not much to say an AFL footballer is best 18 at the Tigers. But its a concern that when thast player is not being selected then questions abound. I doubt whether Bailey is an easier taskmaster than Hardwick. Bailey gave CJ, TJ and Carroll short shift for culture reasons. Mortons sulks wont buy him favour either. Check him out but I was told somewhere that MFC got the best of the Mortons and I have no doubt we have. Although our Morton apparently cant kick.
