  1. Where did I say that? I dont have any information to suggest the Petterd's situation is/isnt different to any other player. But I dont know why you [censored] a dead horse point about the go home factor when 1) you dont know and can only speculate (and that aint hard) 2) you dont believe it to he the case. Thanks for the community service, but I can see through the facts even when you cant. Its a pity you just keep digging a bigger hole for yourself. In a nutshell.
  2. I'd trade a 3rd round pick for Matthew Kruezer and I'd sweeten it by giving them a package of PJ and Meesen to cover the loss of tall player. What?? Kruezer not available??
  3. Your 2nd sentence does not address your first sentence. The reasons he does not get a game at the Pies are the reasons I would not trade for him. If they cant play that position then they are.... I'd rather have a player who was very good in one key strength and competent to good in others. Are you selecting Dawes because he is phenomenal in one position? Hmmmm Any chance the player is actually available??? And you reckon the Crows will be dribbling over 2 players that are not consistent AFL standard? Wow. I would have thought the lesson with the young talls we have that whoever is drafted will take time to maek their presense felt.
  4. Once again, you value some form of physical contact on the man above actually continually winning the physical contest for the ball. Is that "flying the flag"? And what the hell does Dunn provide in that area?? I second maurie's point.
  5. Ha Ha. Thought the same thing. The pretence of diplomacy. Morton has missed alot of football and a lot of fitness. He is doing fine since coming back.
  6. Given you think it does not apply here you still gave the point an unnecessary flogging. Another case of overuse. Proved my point. Well done. B)
  7. No wonder the MFC Footy department play Garland. Garland takes a broader range of forwards than Martin can possibly do. I think you've rated Martin under your Newton theory. All too true
  8. Good story. I have memory of Greg Parke with the yips when kicking for goal. In lining up for goal from directly in front say 35 to 50 metres, Parke would face and walk on a diagonal to the right side of the right behind post hoping to hook the ball back with his right foot comes across his body. Toss of the coin stuff. He did kick 7 goals against the Cats at the Cattery in 1973 in one of our rare wins. So he did have some good days..he had some awful ones too..
  9. We are still a financial basket case, so what we dont earn through this game at the gate means that the AFL will have to tip in. In the absence of finals appearance, I think financially and for visibility of the MFC brand this game is too important to change any element.
  10. The AFL were not set on having a prime QBW spot just granted to MFC. Eddie went public for the AFL to retain the status of the game as MFC's home game. He could have requested a rotated basis or he could have requested a bigger drawing opponent he didn't. Eddie may have had ulterior motives. If that is so, then the move is a Win-win outcome whih should be duly recognised. And other poster saying we should give on this game on a rotation basis have rocks in their head. We need to hold the benefit of this game for as long as we can. Whether it is a home or away game, unless we get to the last week in Sept then this is the biggest crowd we will play against. 20k of MFC supporters, 40-45k of Pies supporters and 5-10k of neutral supporters with guaranteed TV exposure. MFC should milk it for all its worth....and give the Pies the belting they richly deserve.
  11. You serious....Barring injury to other options, PJ's cards are marked. Cant ruck. Cant play forward. No physical presence. He has had 5 years at this Club. He has had his chance. Both PJ and Meesen were worthy experiment to fill a void but they have turned out FAIL. And if we pick another (rookie) I would hope that candidate is better than both PJ and Meesen put together.
  12. Like Schwarz his best was cruelled by a knee injury. Not the same afterwards.
  13. Agree. Graeme Osborne and Brad Miller share more than just a common number IMO. Long serving players that had individual days in the sun but never able to continually cut it at AFL level. Greg Parke - Great mark on his day but an ordinary kick. Too inconsistent. Many better than him. John Gallus- Couple of reasonable years then disappeared from AFL.
  14. Great work Prof and some good picks up on Healy in that side. I might have altered some positions but it is hard to argue with that side. My only changes would be: Ditterich - A great ruck in his prime but that was at St Kilda. His first stint at MFC was a case of too much money (10 year rule) and too much weight. As playing coach not much of a strategist but was serviceable. Due to his efforts up to 2004, I would have gone for Jeff White instead. Fowler - Loved the guy. Tough, hard as nauls and played with a passion that would make Beamer blush. In there on the bench instead of Bourke. Only saw Bourke is his final years as he faded as player
  15. Agree. The coaching staff need to work out with him on what is going to succeed at AFL level. He needs to achieve that level otherwise he is doomed. If distance kicking was an issue with him as another poster then unless he addresses that he is going to be limited at AFL level. He does not have outstanding strengths to compensate for that weakness.
  16. Beat me to it. The family repatriation card is one of the most overused or misused "facts" on this site. Daniel Rich must be on the first bus back to Perth at the end of this year.
  17. Agree. Performance at VFL level might change that. It has not been forthcoming. Now why do you think the MFC Footy dept think otherwise?? Hmmmm How to kill off your AFL aspirations in one easy lesson.
  18. Sydney had players like O'Loughlin and Hall at their peaks and under Roos have topped up at that time. However, their stars are ageing or retired. The difficulty with the Swans is that be trading so much they have sacrificed developing young players with their quality picks. As a consequence now their stars are gone they will be continually spak filling their list and will at best continue as a 7 - 13 spot side because they will never develop the list to seriously challenge again...at least under the existing salary/trade/draft rules. I would not touch Anthony with a 20 foot pole. Front runner with no commitment. And given how flaky Cloke is up forwwrd, the Pies wont let Dawes walk.
  19. One of Dunn's issues is at times his lack of zeal for the hard contest and his inability to win alot of the ball. Why do you think the Club had him tagging for so long? Because his tagging target who wins contested ball would actually bring him to a contest and into the play. He may now be built like Tarzan but too often plays like someone else. You obviously the type who gets a thrill out of scuffles on the ground and chest puffing in meaningless physical jousts. I could not think of anything more irrelevant and potentially dangerous in the modern game. If you really want to intimidate the opposition and I mean really intimidate, you do in the way you tackle chase and pressure in the contest and what you do with the ball. Had a chance to see Geelong play in the past 3 or 4 years??? Tough guys and enforcers is a concept that attracts adherents who see it as part of the game they think they understand and value it beyond its actual worth in todays football.
  20. The sight of Dunn and MacDonald snarling will really scare them. Last year in the QBW, PJ made Fraser look aggressive and dominating. Please I's rather play one short...same as playing PJ I suppose. Agree with Maurie on the changes. I would not count Bell out to play a certain stopper role.
  21. You two should get together and share your outrage. It would be good therapy. Why is the AFL allowing umps to wear the same colour as the competing side an outrage? C-L-A-S-H. A clash of guernsey need not be totally the same colours. But this will be lost in the flames of outrage
  22. Oh dear... Off with the pixies.
  23. Notwithstanding that the traditional jumpers would also carry the AFL emblem on them......
  24. Wrong again Freaky. Bad Example James Kelly. Once again...the facts Kelly broke his leg in rd 14 of his 3rd season in 2004. He returned the following season to play all games in 2005. Kelly was a 100+ footballer by the time he played in a flag. Just what you want. His break was a different and less serious break than the nasty one faced by Blease. Blease has not got on the field yet in any serious manner and has missed nearly two years football which is critical to his development. Its not clear when his recovery will be. Keep trying Freak.
  25. He deserves all that and more. Unfortunately at 34 this year, age and the fast and increasing pace of the AFL will thwart his due reward. I dont think anyone has that guarantee. Selection is not based on body mass alone. He is safe into early 2011 at this point. From there he will have to work to consistently perform at AFL level and not be overtaken by more talented players.
