  1. I think Stef has come in leaps and bounds(lierally) since being thrown into the deep end. And your spin on Cox is a wonderful piece of fantsy. Cox was highly sought after by WCE after his break out season at East Perth. Never the let the facts get in the way.. Not as false or as meaningless as the spin you have given jumbo. And you will probably miss the irony in your question too. I think this two lines are spot on.
  2. He played Colts for East Perth in 1999 and starred s much that he was drafted by WCE the following year as rookie only to be upgraded. He is achievement is even more meritorious given he could hardly bounce the ball. Dean Cox is a superb athlete and an elite ruckman for a number of years. Using Cox as a benchmark would mean nearly all ruckman bar Sandilands in the past decade are inferior. If Martin gets even close to Cox he will be very good. And if your using Cox as a benchmark then Mark Jamar is fail as well.
  3. If Jamar is not playing he is usually rucking full time with hardly a breather. If Jamar plays he pinch hits off the bench to given the Russian a rest. His centre bounce would has been good this year (better than expected. However he needs to become accountable around the ground for his direct opponent when not in the centre bounce.
  4. Juice can call him privately. Given Juice's poor decision making, his likely to take any aggro advice from Dermie to the MRP for review. Unless he does something incredible Juice will be gone. That is indeed a flawed criteria for appointment. It would be good to hear what it means to be a forward in the AFL. I mean he only retired in 1995 and the game has not changed at all since then. Could we possibly lure a big fish to assist us like Doug Wade?
  5. You are dreaming about the "walk the talk" on the footy field. I would have thought Scott West and Chris Connolly would have justifiable claims to that capability in the coaching caper more so than Dermie. If MFC are fine with getting Dermie then that is fine but he comes with a caveat. Dermie was ushered out of the Hawks in the early Clarkson days after his stewardship of the infamous and stupid "drawing the line in the sand" fiasco between Hawthorn and Essendon some years ago. Great pedigree as a player, his on field career stacks with the greats. However on radio his coaching views are entertainment but sometimes have all the depth and nous of a SEN talk back call. Some of his tribunal/match review assessments are quite bizarre and out of touch with where the game is. Its a wonder a person of his playing pedigree is not called up more. And there are good reasons why.
  6. If he is soooo good as a forward coach why isnt a club legend and team of the century member Dermie hanging around Hawthorn?? Hmmmmmm. There must be a reason.
  7. Agree. Most over used term in respect of MFC players of recent vintage. We have some players with potential but lets see them gets some runs and credibility on the board. I cant see Maric achieving that status at this stage of his career. Could well be useful but elite.. I think not.
  8. If you want to make a statement, how the hell does Wonna get selected and Evans cut? If you were going to cut a rookie then Nicholson should go IMO.
  9. Choko, we had half their number of tackles numbers all night. There were 9 players that had not landed a tackle up to half time.
  10. Agree he has taken the easy option and played rookies. How easy is that?
  11. Tackle count Carlton 44, MFC 22. Nine MFC players have not laid a tackle in the first half....Hmmmmm Moloney only 8 possessions so far.... MFC are trying to lock the game down.
  12. Team goals consists of more than places to finish on the ladder. And given the statements made by the Club over the past few months and the actions of Stynes and co., your assumption that that its alright to finish as low as 16th and there is no real or perceived pressure to perform each week is pure fantasy at best. And Carlton is at least 2 to 3 years ahead of MFC on the cycle, they have spent big on Judd, Warnock and mysteriously McLean in the past few years to drive Gibbs, Murphy and co. They have performed poorly in finals football in the past 2 years and have lost both finals first up. Its no illusion that one of there goals is to win a final. Its not rocket science. MFC had the same challenge in 2006 after 2004-2005.
  13. I checked the side for Friday night and blow me down who is in??? Yes. GWS will trade heavily for an unfit small player in Wonna. And good idea lets move Bate, Dunn, Warnock and any one else we can find onto the rookie list. Any chance you might try to trade either Bate, Dunn for something??
  14. Both have been outstanding players to date but Judd is even better than Goodes. I am thinking Morton should be rotated for a quarter on Judd. I actually think Judd will be almost impossible to shut down for 4 qtrs. Anyone for Martin to dominate the ruck??
  15. Fair enough but we dont know. I would like to believe you are right. No one doubts his importance. Is there? If the $$$$ are true then if we were to accommodate the offer (if it gets down to money) the every player is in for a haircut when their contracts come up for renewal. The risks move from Scully to one or more of the top 6 that we have. Once again, the alleged dollars are in excess of Martin's contract. However MFC will have to offer Scully a very good contract regardless. And I hope he signs that.
  16. Without Bartram and Garland, we look a tad slow up back especially with both Rivers and Warnock. Especially if the Blues have Garlett and Betts up forward. Agree. Petterd would also want to show more defensively. And some thought it wasnt a development year???
  17. Ugh. I have already addressed that and in last response I said "hypothetically". I dont know any more of the facts than you clearly do. But there are a range of possibilities. Better go work on your negligence thesis....
  18. Arent we talking about 2012 onwards? Hypotethetically, MFC may not have had a chance to reasonably counterbid GWS if their offer was accepted and was not made aware to MFC. So they may not have necessarily been negligent in the process. Again, we dont know and its too early to alleging negligence.
  19. The Bentleigh proposal orginated in the Gutnick era and has been supported by subsequent administrations.
  20. There is no need to repeat it so.....read (or re read slowly) post 441 for what I have said and make a hunch from there.... B) Got to give some a cheap thrill.... Correct. Not that speculators will ever admit to that.
  21. I am not suggesting one way or the other because I dont know the facts (have to repeat myself once again). But neither do other posters that allege either that the Club is negligent or that Scully is going. They dont know. So its silly to draw conclusions. The issue of lying is a smokescreen raised by a poster who has been shown to premature in making claims of negligence In around about way thats my point of view too.
  22. I thought you said elite runners??? The issue with Judd is his pace over the first 20 metres. Jones has endurance not standing pace. Having said that I would be rotating players on him like McKenzie and Gysberts. Agree on Bartram. Moloney lacks the acceleration to stop Judd How easy for the kid??? Simple instruction for a simple job!!! Nullify a "once in a generation" midfielder in your first game. There you go son, just poke your head above the trench. In 2008....I think we were tanking hard...
  23. I only know what is in the public arena and thats not enough for the ADC like doomsday sayers to determine that he is actually going nor is it plauisble to make claims of negligence if does end up going. This thread is so far a 12 page celebration of how little all supporters know about the true situation and how laughable it is that some can draw longbows and claim them as facts. Like most I want Scully to stay. But I will make judgements on the facts of the matter when they arise.
  24. No I am saying lets wait for the facts before we make misguided negligence claims.
