  1. You implied that it is less of issue at club football because it is dealt with in "an all in brawl" rather than at the professional level. Firstly a brawl does not resolve anything or mitigate any provoking situation. In fact it often makes the situation worse with the consequences of it (eg tribunal, fines, assault charges and litigation) And secondly, the comment is not appropriate in any situation on any sporting field. There is no degree of mitigation because of the standard of the game. 20 years in the game should have given you that insight.
  2. You often miss the point Bub on a range of issues but on this one you're sadly missing the point big time. Your first paragraph is cringeworthy...yuk. And did you think it is possible the AFL might have directed WCE to take action?? Hmmm
  3. You know as little on the local football scene. An all in brawl is never the end of situation. What McGinnity said is inappropriate at any level.
  4. If it means that we are in a PC world or nanny state when we outlaw and punish such appalling comments, then more of it. Some of the attitudes on this thread are as misguided and exhibit the same lack of judgement that McGinnity. Maybe some of posters should attend the counselling too. Well done WYL for finally realising when he actually knew what was said that it was a low act and not dismiss the issue as nannyism. Congtratulations for WCE taking the action and naming and shaming the player.
  5. Please listen rather than blowing. So I can take it you dont know what is in Strauss's contract. And if you can provide actual links to the "reported variously" claim it might give some credence to your claim. All we know in the media is that Sylvia's issue is that he just wants more money in his contract. He is a player that you would expect should be playing best 22 in every game. So match payments aren't or shouldn't be an issue. And given his history of OP and time off with injury I would think it be unlikely he would ever accept your "No Play No Pay" clause in his contract.
  6. Rather than your usual shooting of the breeze, do you actually know that his contract splits up base pay and match payments? From my understanding most contracts dont have that division of costs. His injury would mean he still gets full contractual entitlements.
  7. In a nutshell. Thata a pretty good summary of issues Nasher. I am not sure what trade value either will have but I would certainly put Bate and Dunn on the table. And Warnock is gone for mine too.
  8. I think you will find most contracts do not break up base and match payments. So he gets paid his full whack whether fit or not. The Club will seek cover of his considerable medical costs under its injury insurance policy. And Strauss will have to agree to be moved onto the rookie list with no change to his contractual entitlements.
  9. Your slur that the Club is too conservative is so misplaced. I would have thought the efforts to recruit Jurrah, Howe, Wonnamerri would have been the exact opposite to what you are saying. Just because MFC has not recruited a player whose behaviour would make a village idiot seem mainstream is unflattering reflection on the club critics. I should have met you when I wanted to sell my first car without a RWC for an inflated price many years ago. Port Adelaide. Nothing like woe is me is there? I would have thought you could well remember the last time we had ageing clowns at FF like Mark Jackson and Brent Crosswell. Caveat Emptor. If you worried about developing forwards then have Fevola at FF at Casey or MFC steals the oxygen from younger players who need on ground development. There is no evidence that he has had any positive impact on younger players. But certainly there is evidence that he has had negative impact on younger players at his two previous clubs. The bottom line is that the current difficulties at the Club dont suddenly make a self destructive, incredibly immature and dysfunctional footballer less so. I trust the MFC football department shows the barest modicum of good sense to see through the Fevola dross.
  10. Brilliant all we need is strong leadership...Eureka....Green, Davey, Moloney....Oh wait. I sure Carlton and Brisbane certainly got rid of the energy. Must have been spooked by the carbon tax.
  11. Agree totally. With Fev, you could have both. Well I'll be..... Fev is the antithesis of leadership. Selfish, lazy that his talent cant hide. Proven track record of disruption. Campbell is a very poor analogy for Fevola. Chalk and cheese by a mile. I would have thought Hall is a poor example. Here is a player who has worked himself hard physically throughout his career to take the toll of AFL football. Neitz on the other hand while dedicating himself had a body that really broke down 2 years before he retired. Fevola is fat, lazy, poor attitude and at best living off past glories.
  12. I sometimes wonder if posters really think about their "great" trade deals. Clubs aren't stupid. There is a golden rule in the trade game...to get value you must give value. I know we did well with Brock and TJ deals but they were the exception not the normal. A quality player with a great future like Gaff will demand equality on the other side. And a showbag of fringe, underperforming or deemed past it players is not going to clinch a clearly one sided deal. Not even if we gave Simon Godfrey as a sweetener.
  13. How would you know? He had so many fundamental issues to deal with on and off the ground regardng his football. It would longer than a phone book. Why would you bother?
  14. Carlton and Brisbane said the same thing and.... And its great you like a player with no defensive side to his game. Works well in todays game. *Face Palm* He is guaranteed something but not an AFL draft pick!! And there was good reason 2 clubs with serious AFL finals aspirations ditched him. And they were..... He may not be even kicking goals and still blocking others development. I am not sure it was a choice. PJ was not AFL standard. And in 4 years, McNamara has done little to suggest he has it at AFL level. If I remember correctly he only has a rookie spot. I am not sure a bullocking defender who lacks pace is a wanted AFL commodity. I think his fate is doubtful with or with Scully.
  15. With you managing the debt I would give us no more than 3 years. You work on finding those statements about MM being interested in coaching MFC. Cant wait.
  16. Settle down tulip. I was pulling your leg on MM. But its the captaincy, yes the captaincy.
  17. You try so hard on here to pass them off as fact. And you get continually found out for it. Its very funny. So Trengove extend onto 2015 because MM has not yet said he will commit to MFC? Yep its definitely your opinion.
  18. ...only if Malthouse actually says publicly that he is interested in coaching MFC.
  19. I guess go the cheap shot on Judd was your only option. He has won 2 B'lows, odds on to win a 3rd. Whether Ball has been reported or not is not a sensible metric to define Judd as a better player or not. Its interesting that both were taken in the 2001 draft. On hindsight its clear who has been the better player. Ball is good value for money player you are right. But he aint in Judd's class. Its no insult either. There are very few players who are.
  20. I will make it simple. It was not a matter of price with Ball. The only way we could have pushed harder is to have drafted him without the knowledge of his medical condition and without his consent. He refused to show the records to MFC and only showed them to Collingwood. If we had taken him it would have been a gamble because we did not know the extent of his physical condition or his keenness to actually play for us. Its like buying a pre owned car that has had some road damage and you forgo the roadworthy test.
  21. Nut, Who is the player that fishes the ball out to the Swan, Pendles and Daisy?
  22. I think this is our best chance in the past four weeks. Will we win? I tip the Eagles but we have more than no chance which has been the case in recent weeks.
  23. He is good but not in Judd's sphere. No disgrace either. How could we have pushed harder. He would not meet with us and would not provide his medical records. As Old suggests we could punted the Tapscott pick on him. He was a gamble as we have no knowledge of his medical fitness I would have thought they got 2 years too much at the end.
  24. Its a fund raiser Precious.Dont fret Will we go into debt WYL to do it?? Will you advise the Club on proper debt management?? Indeed.
