  1. For what? Lightweight outside player who has question marks over his mental ability to hand a tag and does not win contested ball. Skilled user of the ball alot of the times but definitely a confidence players. Hardly in demand. LY, Davis was a peripheral player at CFC. Davey was at least top 8 to 10 at MFC and is a supposed leader. If you think you can reinvent Davey given his issues atm then great. I dont think Davis/Davey are the same sort of footballers despite obvious appearances. I am not sure there is better value in trading him given his influence around the club but unless he really changes his ways his options for the future are limited.
  2. Doubt it. There have been alot of players who have been in the right place at the right time to win a flag. Steven Armstrong, Shannon Motlop come to mind. Possible. But he won a Liston after playing nine games one year. At his size you cant miss PJ on the ground and the umpires clearly notice. Its strange he was not even an outside chance. They would be if MFC had " a heap of injuries and rested players". Hmmm what does that tell us?
  3. Alleluia Brother. I am happy for Fev to do this at another Club. And God bless him.
  4. Taking Fevs last year (2011 playing for the CAsey Scorps) as the best guide to his future form, has Fev: - Kicked a bunch of goals pushing Casey into finals contention? Yes But is that a function of dominating midfields against at times some truly crud oppositions - Had an indiscretion free tenure at Casey? YesNo. His pre season antics and refusal to train in preference to having a jolly in LA was unbelievable for someone trying to get his football life together. He started the season behind the 8 ball and was terribly unfit for most of it. He still cant chase at VFL level and has no second effort. - Created a distraction, fractured the playing group? No Not that your aware of. I think the question should be has Fevola been a positive influence on the playing group? You could as equally answer No. - Provided a negative influence during the development of our kids (our future)? Not that I'm aware of. The same could be said in regard provision of the positive influence. He is still an on field sulk and a hothead at times. Its not good enough. - hampered the playing development of our young forwards by occupying a spot in the forward line they would otherwise have? NoThis is clearly a case where you would not have any knowledge to make a clear judgement. However by playing him in the forward line then another MFC player misses out. - sulked, provided a poor on field example, draws negative attention towards himself and the club? Yes, I heard he did this at Casey's game against Geelong He has done it quite a few times this year. He will never shake the petulant selfish antics. This is exactly what cant be tolerated at AFL level. Its not a good look for younger players.- hasn't perform as expected (by some), being another year older and having only performed against substandard opposition for half a season in the VFL? No, he's performed above expectations in the second half of the season No he has performed as expected. If he is the "class" people are saying he should be eating this competition each and every week. Cashes in on the weaker opposition but negligible against the better opposition - committed some sort of indiscretion, just like he has done, time and again, and AGAIN, at Carlton, and then appeared to have learnt briefly at Brisbane... before proving this leopard could not change his spots? No, he's been indiscretion free for the year... This is clearly not the case. His pre season behaviour reeked of the same immaturity that has plagued his career. The fact that he has not sunk to the depths in the past five months is hardly a recommendation. Its very hard to perpetuate being a social clown and misfit even for Fevola. It would be naive to think this leopard does not carry the baggage of who he is. Its really good that he is finally trying to turn things around. FMD, he has had that many opportunities over his career. And what he has to turn around are big changes in his life. If he is to continue to rehabilitate then it going to take alot longer for him to be a functional character on and off the field. The problem he has that at 31 his ability to translate that into an AFL career is limited. And for what MFC is and needs and what Fevola is and what he brings as the total package does not suit MFC's LT targets. I am more excited about the prospect of Fitzy making the grade than punting on an ageing misfit whose AFL window has closed due to his own rank stupidity over time. Seems Fev has done ok in 2011 even on your own scorecard... Fev has been as expected he would be at VFL level. In my mind it does not result in a capable player at AFL level
  5. You are kidding. Can take a contested mark up forward and has normally been accurate up forward (He has kicked 3.6 this year though). In fact his career accuracy record stacks up well indeed. http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/accuracy.html
  6. Yes. That s why I thought he should be in the Liston odds at least as a long shot.
  7. He has missed alot of the season with a broken foot. He is not rated in this years Liston so he has hardly been dominating.
  8. Cheers Old Dee. Stay positive. Go Dees!
  9. You are assuming that because he has not destroying his life in the public that he has become a model citizen. What we know is that he is not destroying his life in public. What is happening behind the scenes neither you or I know. But we do a have a clear and extended pattern of his behaviour which indicates that he will never make a "model citizen" Gloss it how you wish. Firstly I dont accept that Casey did the right thing in recruiting Fevola. Secondly I dont think MFC are playing [censored] for tat? I have already addressed that issue with you but you seem fixed on it. For players who will not be at MFC past this year I see no reason to risk them for injury past this year. For many of our younger players the season has been long enough and I would be happy if they were given time to physically rest before the demands of next year. FWIW, I am not sure from the Sandy experience that many of the players who played in their sweep of football flags progressed greatly as footballers. The relationship with Casey is what it is and I dont want MFC to compromise its pre determined interests to appease an associate whose interests are not aligned to ours.
  10. Thanks RL for the update. I thought he had done an injury.
  11. As always thanks KC for your updates. Its interesting that two of the favourites for the Liston are: $7 Brock McLean $9 Shane Valenti And I have not tracked him this year but PJ a former Liston winner is not even in the odds for the trophy. Is he injured atm and for most of the season?
  12. Your first sentence if applicable to Casey reflects an immature club that MFC is dealing with. "You were doing something I didn't like so I am doing something you wont like so we are even." I trust they are smarter than that. If you think about it the outcome of one issue is not a plausible basis for the second. And FWIW, MFC did let Brad Miller play KPF (as he had done for most of the season with Casey) in the VFL finals last season. I think if you look at it, Casey operated in their own interests in respect of Fevola. This is one of the flaws we deal with in respect of the association. We had the same problem with Sandy and Nick Sautner. I am not sure a spectator can make any reliable assessment on Fevola's impact on the players unless he/she were involved closely with the clubs involved but you are entitled to your opinion. Try convincing Carlton, Brisbane and Fevola's former management group that the BF thing is all histrionics and rhetoric.
  13. It is plain semantics. Because if Warnock is genuine depth even without MacDonald and Davis there presence does not make his position any rosier. And after 7 years you know what you get from Warnock and its not enought to force a regular best 22 spot. There is no question about how long you keep Warnock...You dont he goes. MacDonald and Davis are both 18 or 19. Its unreasonable to judge them yet on what they cant do. On the basis of what they can do at a sub 20yo age then if you were looking at contracts for the next 2 years they get them. And from what I have seen at Casey and on Saturday, MacDonald has Warnock already for mobility. Warnock is in the same boat as Bate and Dunn. They just have different seat numbers on board.
  14. Add Davis who as he develops further raises the standard and closes the window opening further for Warnock. Its semantics Bub at best. You acknowledge that he is genuine depth in bottom 8 side. That is not a high value genuine AFL quality asset. You are dead right about Dunn and Bate but I think Warnocks days are numbered. And if McDonald and Davis do develop as defenders then Rivers will be looking over his shoulder carefully.
  15. They will still get it on their own steam, I seemed to recall the wonderful added value Fev provided another club that was pushing towards the finals in 2008/09.
  16. Seems that few want to realise that the merit he brings as a footballer (where the gap between his best and worst football is subatantial) also comes with the demerits he has as an individual. And there is nothing emotive about his chronic track record.
  17. Fevola....invaluable finals experience??? He has played six finals matches in 12 years of senior football. 5 of those were in his first 2 years of AFL football. He has played 1 final in the past 10 years. And Carlton bumped him as it was heading towards their finals campaign. If you want finals experience then lets at least focus on a player that actually has some credibility at that level.
  18. There are other issues at play here old Dee particularly in respect of players who may be in their last season with MFC. If they get injured while playing at Casey (a serious leg injury) MFC wear some of the medical expenses. For starters your despair should have been at rock bottom when Casey went and recruit an ageing social circus performer without fair discussion or approval. I think Casey gets great support from MFC. And in their own words our support has been far greater than their previous r/ship.
  19. Irony. Like it was so useful when we aligned with Sandy. If MFC are consistent they are unlikely to play a number of their players particularly those who are unlikely to be in the red and blue next year.
  20. No It was Dick Pratt that liked Fev and bankrolled his last contract at Carlton. He has gone. From my sources neither Ratten nor Judd had any time for the misfit and culture sore in his final year at Carlton. His position became untenable there like it did at Brisbane. I dont think anything has occurred to change that. He has more chance batting for Australia this summer than playing with the blues.
  21. Faio sentiments rpfc. I cant see him in the midfield when he is sloppy below the knees, has a turning circle like the QE2 and has no right foot in addition to being slow. While there are players who are slow on footspeed over 0 to 20 metres they cover that by being A grade in other areas of their game to compensate. I dont see it with Bate. I think he will be gone at year end.
  22. He had that at two clubs and two different cities. Same outcome. Fevola is the cess pool of stagnant water. Its great at 31 he is growing up slowly. I would rather look at him at 60 when on this trend he will be out of his teen years.
  23. *Stands and applauds* Awesome detective work Rogue. Ouch. Highlight Blease's form not your own.
  24. Well you dont want Fevola then. I cant think of one forward that truly developed at Carlton playing alongside Fevola. Betts has been a better player since he has been gone.
