Interestingly the Saints started clear favourites probably on the back of a great midfield of Steven, Armitage and Montagna plus their key forwards of Reiwoldt and Bruce. Those players put them just ahead of us in their development so the result as disappointing as it is shouldn't be too much of a set back. Still really am buoyed by the positives especially Watts, Toumpas, Gawn and Grimes.

Toumpas still has only played 30 games - he's a novice and will make mistakes. The good news is his game is improving rapidly, as is his confidence.

Educational psychologists talk a lot about a quality called subconscious competence - this is where as the result of good instruction, role modelling and repetition, repetition, repetition students instinctively make good decisions and take effective action. This is where our poor development in the past is now biting us in the arse. our older players default position is one of subconscious INcompetence and in the heat of battle all goes pear shaped. So Paul Roos is right that some of our older players probably are victims of our past and are now incapable of change. The good news is, our current development program is top class and the younger players will be fine, but it all takes time. McCartney, Goodwin and Plapp have only been in place since the beginning of the year and more time is needed to bring about change but the signs are good that our future will be much better than our past and that this is a side in transition.

Carlisles kicking will certainly fit in.

Looking forward to seeing Salem, Toumpas and Petracca all lining up together fit and healthy.

Seriously any junior footballer should know to get numbers back in that situation. I doubt there would have been time to issue specific instructions from the bench. Another collective brain fade for which we are well known.

Thought Dunn beat Bruce comprehensively. Fitz will have to come in with all the talls the Cats have. Other than that toss a coin. Next game could be ugly

The ball rebounds out of our forward line too quickly and too often and he is part of that problem. 2 consecutive games of about 5 possessions is not good enough.

We are not going backwards - that would be impossible. Lots to like with the new talent, lot to dislike about the same old NQRs.

Can't understand the Grimes comment - thought he played a very good game

Our depth players are just not good enough - Riley, Michie, Bail, Pedersen, M. Jones, Newton and the newbies apart from Brayshaw and Hogan are not ready so we can't cover Garland, Kent, Salem, JKH, Vanders. Another list clean out needed. Positives - Toumpas, Watts, Gawn, Grimes, Brayshaw, Hogan. Garlett needs a boot in the backside.

Our half forward line in the problem - they can't lock it in and time and time again it rebounds ala Oxley and Gilbert.

We are seriously slow - need to get some toe into the side. Reckon Garlett is a very lazy footballer - 2 weeks in a row he's done SFA.
