  1. Backup ruckman of the future? Just needs to grow a couple of cm and he's there.
  2. I think we're very lucky that Durdin was still available at North's first selection.
  3. I'm excited by what drafting Petracca and Brayshaw, along with the recruitment of Newton, does for our midfield profile. Previously I was a bit concerned about the lack of size, with one of our best contested ball winners being Viney. Tyson, Brayshaw, Petracca, Newton, dare I say it, Trengove and Watts, all tall prototypical midfielders. And Michie, Riley, Jones, Vince all are now the smaller-to-medium mids. It bodes well.
  4. Would take Oscar McDonald any day of the week ahead of Reece McKenzie.
  5. I don't think he's experienced his 18th year yet, so it's probably an unfair question...
  6. That's fine. In the same vein as GWS/Bulldogs, we'll take Pendlebury and a top 5 pick for Petracca. Happy days.
  7. That's not a reach. That's rating a kid higher than what seems to be the consensus. A "reach" is a nonsense term anyway. A "reach" would be drafting a kid earlier than you have him in a strict ranking system, because you are enamoured with his type and are worried he won't be there at a later pick. What other teams
  8. Really? He's not afraid to have an opinion, and goes very early, which is to be admired, but "pretty spot-on"? I think not.
  9. I'd agree. I wasn't talking in terms of personality. But he's not a leader either. And I think that might count against him for St Kilda.
  10. All I can think is that in 48 hours time I will be deliriously happy. We'll either have a 2nd gun forward, making our young forward line the envy of all others, bar GWS (even then Patton is crocked), or alternatively we'll get an explosive, powerful 2nd coming of Colin Sylvia with a better head on his shoulders, and the best contested-ball-winning pure mid in the draft who is slightly bigger than Wines and a better kick. And all our problems will be solved Just like this time last year.
  11. Slightly? Membrey is significantly smaller. He's a classic tweener.
  12. Or alternatively giving life to speculation over the picks at the pointy end where everyone is beginning to, or has already completely lost interest.
  13. Give him a break! He's only 18! You do realise that Sylvia was 18 once too? Chances are that some of these kids will turn into Sylvias... It's all crystal ball gazing, but I'm not sure it's a good sign when he says he's hyper and drives his teammates to annoyance with his intense personality (paraphrasing). I.e. he won't be a leader of your club in my opinion, at least, not in the way that you want. Other players may follow him, but not necessarily anywhere you want them to go.
  14. BJJ instead, from memory. Definitely a Viney.
  15. I think, if genuine, it is personality based. He's not the type of bloke you want to be a leader. He has made comments about teammates finding him annoying. Hyperactive like a diet-Jack Riewoldt or Heath Shaw.
  16. I always expected it to swing back with rumours like this, even if its only to generate a bit more interest in the pointy end of a draft that for so long has seemed a fait accompli. I fully expect Petracca to go 1. My dream draft result would be... 2: Petracca 3: Brayshaw 40: Oscar McDonald 53: Dean Gore
  17. Brevity, rpfc, brevity. He's a bloody bore. Leave it at that.
  18. It'll give you plenty of time to learn how to spell his name...
  19. Interesting to read in The Age that Lewis Taylor was a late call up to attend last year's draft, as he was installed as our 2nd backup if Salem was gone at pick 9 (...since the AFL wants to know teams' likely selections, so they can make sure they get a photo of the top 10 in attendance).
