  1. Sorry to upset you, princess, but having an alternate opinion and one that is differing to the norm, is not "crapping on everyone's opinion" Don't be afraid to stop being a sheep at some stage.
  2. You'd have to look at him, but you'd also have to consider that he may be the lesser but taller version of Shannon Byrnes, and that's not a good thing.
  3. Duggan! When asked to name a 'natural' midfielder (not Lever) in contention for pick 3, and ended up putting Duggan's name into the mix, it forced me to seriously consider the prospect of McCartin being the best option at pick 3... I don't think Duggan has much chance of being anything more exceptional than a Jordan Russell type player. Vanilla.
  4. He was... until we got Frost. I think he'll slot straight in as a KPD who can stay with the mobile "gorillas"
  5. I expect Geelong to "reach" a little and select Ellis, who is probably rated around 12-20 by consensus. Not that I know anything, just my opinion. He fits their list, is a bit of a "quiet achiever" in terms of draftees and we all know Wells often picks from left field. Those predicting Wright to go to Geelong are well off, I think, and we'll see another Brodie Grundy-like "steal" at around pick 20. Grundy has been visible and competent (at times) but he's hardly a game changing superstar, after being picked at 20, but predicted top 3 in the early days.
  6. Would've fit in well with a few noted party boys from our club in the recent past. Like a young Colin Sylvia, or alternatively an older Colin Sylvia... not in playing style.
  7. People so quickly forget how highly rated Watts, Morton, Scully and Toumpas were prior to the draft. Not that all are duds, but all perceived as such by certain factions.
  8. I never understood what an actress would be doing knocking about with a bishop...
  9. Hardly shocking. Hell, only a few months ago there were posters lamenting the fact we wouldn't have a chance of getting Petracca. But if the Saints are into Brayshaw, don't fool yourself; it hasn't only just happened.
  10. So... He'll be handy if we want to beat up on a team of underdeveloped kids who run out of puff in the final quarter and give away a heap of dubious free kicks.
  11. I'd have thought the List Manager at the time, Tim Harrington, would be responsible, not Mahoney.
  12. That makes a good case for Lever then, bacause if he fails, it's likely that you could always blame injury...
  13. I know. It's just we've barely heard his name, then this. Except for when I raised his name as a possibility for pick 3 a couple of weeks ago, to derision by those that know better.
  14. When present with a choice between using pick 3 on Matthew Scarlett or Levi Casboult, or even Nathan Eagleton, I'd choose Scarlett every time. In no way am I saying that either Lever, McCartin or an available mid will become anything like these players, I'd just a comparison to illustrate why I personally would take Lever - I think he'll be the better player.
  15. I know, I just find this newfound love for him amusing.
  16. It's much the same as Rockliff, who was predominantly an undersized FF. He was a footballer first and foremost.
  17. Agree. I was about to post a similar thing. How fast exactly is our young budding superstar, Dom Tyson? Lever's reading of the ball in flight is comparable to Fyfe, in my opinion. Those who say he's too tall to play as a mid... He's shorter than Bontempelli by a couple of cm.
  18. Exactly. He told me I'd be pretty happy with him at the dees, but was shocked when I replied that I didn't want him. However he couldn't argue too much when I have my reasons: that we need mids more and that there'd be some other highly talented kids available at that stage of the draft, that better suited our list. The wrap on McCartin is: beast of a bloke, very competitive, angry and likes the crash, bash style of play. Huge lad, great hands. But at the end of the day, what's he going to say? Of course he looks amazing against the other spuds in school footy, half his size. And the kid is touted as a top 3 pick for very good reasons - he has serious talent, good attitude and great size. But he's just not the one I want.
  19. Good question, I should have clarified. His opinion, not that he definitively knows, but his opinion that we will, not that we should.
  20. Word direct from McCartin's coach at Grammar is that the dees will pick him. Not the worst outcome, but I think there is the chance of a marginally better outcome. Petracca and Brayshaw being the perfect yet unlikely one. I still favour Lever, but you never know for certain how these things will pan out...
  21. Come on mate, you list your favourite player as Colin Sylvia - you don't expect anyone to take you seriously, do you? Fine. You think he's slow. Great stuff. Anything else you'd like to add? Something worthwhile maybe?
