  1. Crikey, out Barry? I thought he was pretty good last week. Welcome 3183~!!
  2. Strauss is so bloody frustrating. Any chance of him getting the Jetta treatment, getting delisted and rookied? So skilled, but seemingly doesn't have the chutzpah...
  3. Haven't heard a lot from him in the past. Sounds like a terrific, grounded and professional young bloke who will be a great leader and example for years to come. Thought he was terrific last week - had that one grab coming back with the flight in front of Roughy which was hugely impressive!
  4. That's what's got me a bit excited. AS you say it was odd though, it was almost as if he was frustrated to still be getting the question. He must play this weekend, surely he's champing at the bit... Still holding out hope its with the 1's.
  5. Think it was pretty clear from the way Misson responded in his injury report that the decision is no longer in his hands.
  6. Hmm, I can almost imagine how he is picturing himself outdoing Boyd, clunking big grabs in the fwd 50... getting just a little bit carried away over here.
  7. Interesting how little info Misson offered up on Hogan. Sounds like he is completely ready to go, must play at Casey this week... is there any chance of the 1's..?
  8. Well that didn't paste how I was hoping: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?tid1=12&pid1=3107&tid2=9&pid2=1383&type=A&fid1=O&fid2=O
  9. This doesn't fill me with confidence: Jack Watts Name Colin Sylvia Melbourne Demons Team Fremantle Dockers Defender, Forward Position Midfield, Forward 92 Career Games 163 Sandringham Dragons Origin Bendigo Pioneers March 26, 1991 Date of Birth November 8, 1985 23yr 4mth Age Turned 23 in 2008 196cm Height 186cm 88kg Weight 86kg 2008 National Draft Last Drafted In 2003 National Draft Round 1, Pick #1 Last Draft Position Priority Pick #3 Melbourne Demons Last Drafted By Melbourne Demons 2014 Stats for Season 2008 19 Games 18 9.2 Kicks Per Game 10.9 8.4 Handballs Per Game 6.8 17.5 Disposals Per Game 17.8 5.0 Marks Per Game 6.6 0.6 Goals Per Game 0.9 0.4 Behinds Per Game 0.5 2.6 Tackles Per Game 2.8 0.1 Hitouts Per Game 1.3 0.6 Frees For Per Game 0.8 0.8 Frees Against Per Game 0.9 Disclaimer: I am a Watts defender.
  10. They'll normally acknowledge there's an issue however and say something along the lines of, "but we're sure that he'll come good" or "he's going through a bad patch and he'll work his way through it" or "he knows what he needs to keep working on and I'm sure he'll get there" etc. They don't come out and say "he's been consistent all year", "he's been playing the roles we ask of him" etc. I'll make the point same point I did a few posts ago about the multitude of blokes who have performed worse than Watts this year, the only reason we rag on him is because he was # 1. If he was # 20 he wouldn't even be in the conversation on the reliability of his disposal, his ability to kick goals and propensity to change a game (on occasion).
  11. McKenzie Clisby Kent Blease Strauss Garland Pedersen Nicholson Evans Grimes Tapscott Spencer Bail M Jones Terlich Fitzpatrick Michie Trengove Toumpas Riley Every single one of these players have been in the system for at least a year and have offered less than Watts, can we please move on from this conversation... he's going nowhere. And don't give me the currency comment. We're going to have plenty of high draft picks to work with this year.
  12. Worry a bit about his attitude with only a handful of games - this is also at odds with all the chat from coaches and draft camp. Can we please limits attacks on this kid until he's played at least 20/30 games, because he is just that; a kid. (As are Salem, Barry and Toumpas I might add.)
  13. I just don't think Vince has a good enough disposal to be reliable off half back. I reckon this is the role Roos wants to see Toumpas take on in years to come, maybe Trengove as well. You look at how Mitchell came bursting off half back at the centre clearance several times, both Toumpas and Trengove have this in them if they can get right. How good would it be to have someone like Malceski here for a couple of years teaching these boys, invaluable. Vote 1 for Malceski and O'Keefe.
  14. Give me a bloody break, Vince was smiling during the game after acting like a step ladder for poppy. After every game, players from every team smile and talk to each other about what they're up to. This is a beat up, pure and simple. And a pathetic one at that.
  15. I can't cop that Watts makes no effort, it is completely inconsistent with everything we hear from the coaches at the club. Hardness? Sure, Effort? No way. Watts has also had several quality involvements in attack, so to say we need to hide him to limit how detrimental he is is ridiculous.
  16. Its amazing how much of a difference Cross makes, what a legend. Is a good advertisement for getting O'Keefe in. Been fairly pleased with Barry's effort too, despite Hills impact. Dawes is a major disappointment. He plays like he knows he is meant to be the 2nd up forward. Very happy with Gawn, so critical for our shape in transition in the years to come. Would like to see more impact from Michie, he needs to attack the contest harder, a la Viney.
  17. For gods sake give the Jack Watts crap a rest. It's utter dribble. Who gives a sh!t if he's not elite, he's just a player plugging away. Do we see the same vitriol directed at Matt Jones who has contributed far less than Watts. Bunch of one eyed haters.
  18. There are some real doomsday predictions coming through over the last couple of days. I don't think its going to be catastrophic, it'll be a beating but I'm predicting I wont be feeling as bad about it as I was after the Brisbane game. For the record, I don't think Roos was making excuses for the boys form on Saturday despite the pasting he got for allegedly doing so. I think he was simply searching for an explanation for the mediocrity and that is what he offered. I don't for a second think that he is trying to justify it, I'm certain that once he got behind closed doors he was telling them to harden the f... up or ship out.
  19. From the reviews it seems that Gawn is actually getting around the ground quiet well, so for that alone you might get him in for Jamar. Quality marking is also valuable in other areas of the ground. Get him taking some grabs on the wing as a link option and we might actually get some run in to the fwd 50. Even as a marking bailout option on the d50 line would be advantageous seeing as though we struggle so hard to get it out. I'd like to see him in.
  20. If people are talking about scully "making it" then what he gets paid is beside the point. He's made it.
  21. Why do people talk about Scully like he's a massive bust, how ridiculous. He had some really quality games in the middle of this year, is repeatedly picking up 20 or more possessions and routinely makes 5 or more tackles a game. I'd take that any day (take what he gets paid out of it, its irrelevant). From my point of view, being a gun at TAC and SANFL would typically be a pretty good indicator.. not always, but typically.
  22. Gumbleton has much higher pedigree than Fitz, I don't think he has the currency some people hope he does. I'm also flabbergasted that Trengove is being spoken about as genuinely tradeable. The poor bloke has barely played this year, was terrific early in his career and has just been hobbled by an underlying issue which we're now trying to fix. Several things in relation to that, you don't trade away your 2nd pick after investing a sh!tload in finally getting his body right. Secondly, how much currency do you think he has after a navicular injury the recovery of which other clubs have no idea about..?
  23. Forgot about Cross. Out: Terlich, Pedersen, Tapscott, Reilly In: Strauss, Gawn, Michie, Cross
