  1. What a game the VFL GF was. Would have no issue with Bice with a later pick and I think Heron has the skills and speed for another shot at it. Brew great inside stoppage but cant see how it would translate at next level.
  2. Why if he comes cheap? Who are our round 1 small forwards. Koz ?(suspended). Nibbler ?(gone). Spargo ? (has not played for a year)? So Chandler and possibly Kolt or Kynan or …… A good quality opportunist small forward (6 games of 3 goals and 33 in total for 2024) who is very team oriented who would come at low cost. I can see the potential appeal.
  3. Carlton are obviously wanting to clear the decks for a run at Houston. Kennedy wont be on big money but is in contract. He fills our need and style and provides another mature inside bull whilst we see where Clarry and Trac are at. Has also shown quality pinch hitting forward so could play alternate to Trac (or the role subject to how long his return). If they want him out the key is getting him to request us and then we should get him for cheap (pick 45 or 50 could get it done).
  4. Excellent depth at what contract value???? Its a no for me based on the combo of our need, his need and even if draft cheap the salary impact.
  5. We dont need speedy midfielders with precise kicking?
  6. Adams is a young 20 with good speed who needs another preseason or two to build strength, repeat endurance and with that confidence to position himself for a game. The only young keys from that draft playing any reasonably consistent level of AFL games to this point are Cadman and Weddle (who is more a utility than a key). I suggest the club have quiet confidence in him being they extended his contract to end of 2026 before the recent season commenced.
  7. His output and highlights are quality. He is the type of player that could end up a JT special. Good size, speed and skills and whilst he played general back I can see how he could translate into elite midfield attributes. JT certainly does not generally follow the same order as most.
  8. Agree watch him closely as it get toward November and he hears club rumours but JT has a habit of not picking to the norm.
  9. Worth remembering Cal Twomey's Sept 2023 phantom form guide had Windsor at pick 14 and his prior two versions not even in the top 20 prospects. In JT we trust....
  10. I would say not quick (but wouldn't say slow). The one thing I did really like is the weighting of his kicks (something we lack). In saying that Jagga, Draper, Langford, Lalor preferred by me )and possibly Reid).
  11. Caleb Daniel good game is 300 metres gained. Houston averages 450-480m. We have enough smallish players with dinky kicks.
  12. I count it as 9 but close enough. If they are not up to it and out of contract then I would prefer us to look at someone mature outside untried or retried than someone we know is not going to make a difference (recontracting Schache a good example). I assume 2 of the spots are Yze and Mentha. Then I will assume 3-4 in a quality draft with depth. So I dont think it would surprise that we bring in 3-4 players from other clubs in trade or delisted FA’s to improve our depth and balance out some of the lost maturity over 2023/2024.
  13. Of this list. B Brown is known. I would also delist KFW, Hore, Hunter, Schache, Sestan, Smith. I suspect Tomlinson looks after itself via free agencyh. TMac deserves to go around again if he chooses as does Melksham with the loss of mature leadership we have lost with Gus and ANB. Verrall, AMW and Kynan have shown good development for age.
  14. Why wont you get value? I suggest he is one of few we should be seeing what his value is to the right team. We need to find ways to maintain our high pick and try and get another this year whilst bringing in other mature roles that may have upside for cost.
  15. 6. Viney 5. Langdon 4. Gawn 3. Turner 2. Salem 1. McDonald
  16. There is no world I see where either of them net you a top 20 pick or close to.
  17. Who are you willing to trade to get it done that you think has the realistic value to make this happen?
  18. Can’t fault the effort. Can fault the lack of dare and composure. One of Kozzie’s best 4 quarter games. Time to turn in anyone needing surgery and just get through to the end.
  19. 6 Pickett 5. Gawn 4 Petty 3 ANB ………………..
  20. I’ll be there. Hoping for some serious pressure and fast flow footy and for a starting square midfield of Rivers, Pickett and McVee at some stage of the game.
  21. I have no issue with the current impact of Kentfield. As has been alluded should be a long play. What i dont get is why we thought we had to jump at him in the mid season draft vs grab him with a mid to late pick in the end of season. We should have used the mid season for an emergency ruck (as we found was needed) or mature midfield depth.
  22. I disagree. He was the best midfielder who we knew had off field challenges, some affecting our team culture.
  23. Bold point 1. Judd has been accountable for the oppositions best small/medium forward almost every game this year. Bold point 2. I think this is because we lack polish and quality ball use through the middle. Having a peak at the end of this season to see how his skills translate helps the decision on whether to train him more for a midfield or defence role over summer.
  24. It's a shame Finn Callaghan and LDU are not out of contract til 2025. I doubt we could jag either out a year early (if at all) but they are exactly the type of size, polish and pace we need to add to our midfield mix.
  25. Can people stop comparing the trade value of players who were traded when out of contract to Houston.. He is in contract and if we want him we will need to pay overs to get him out. The question is what is a suitable level of overs? I suggest a first round pick outside of the first 10 and some sweetener to Port is fair. Whether they take it is I suggest down to various factors. The reason he wishes to leave. How much they want to get back into the first round. How much salary it frees. How far off they see themselves contending in 2025.
