Core players / top 4 in the best 22? (merged thread)
We have good quality depth combined in Brayshaw, Harmes, Petracca and Viney to jointly โcoverโ his clearance and contested ball winning ability and class. Preuss could do enough to negate at the hitouts but I think you are seriously underestimating Gawns impact around the ground particularly behind the ball.

Core players / top 4 in the best 22? (merged thread)
Not exactly the question that was asked but if you were looking for the 4 players you would most want to be there for 22 games and then some I would say Gawn, Langdon, May and T-Mac. All 4 are high quality and have significant gap to the next up in their role.

Aaron Nietschke Injures ACL Again
This game can be cruel. Great the club will get behind him with an extension of contract. Do the hard yards again Neita, rehab hard and put your head down and learn as much as you can whilst you cant play. Reset and see you for 2021.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
Wife is a bombers supporter and I went to numerous games with her last season and watched most others when free of Demons. She is livid they did not offer him another year. Works up and back hard and is clean in hands and by foot. At worst good insurance, at best will have a point to prove and offer a potential quality third foil or push the kids to earn their spot.

Jumper Numbers 2020
I was hoping Hore may take an upgrade and 34 would open up for LJ in a nod to a previous strong jawed mobile Dee ruckman.

Its far worse than this.

Lyon: Oliver is Demons best EVER midfielder
Oliver is the reason when you look back now and old posts that argue we have not had great players or elite players you nod and say "now I get it". He consistently plays the game at a different level to nearly all but the best of the best. Its almost like watching a different sport.

Out Best 22 Imports
Powell a definite. A short time but a good time.

Herald Sun 2019 Predictions
I am amazed but also not at the consistent MFC for premiers but it really is blind following the following the blind in footy media. Think its a year too early for us to be the expected victor but we will certainly give it a shake. I reckon Malthouse forgot us or I would love to hear/see his justification as to how we go backwards after he thought we would play finals in 2018.

They both look in ripping shape.

Training - Friday 18th January, 2019
A snippet from a Ben Guthrie article on afl.com.au from this mornings training. While McDonald's determination to keep presenting at the footy was noteworthy, Kade Kolodjashnij's foot skills; Bayley Fritsch's aerial ability, as well as his decision-making, and Michael Hibberd's run and carry were among the other highlights of the match practice.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KADE KOLODJASHNIJ
Makes some interesting reading. https://www.zerohanger.com/champion-data-reveal-best-worst-kicks-2017-14091/ Has Hunt in the best 10 kicks of 2017 based on a variance between the difficulty of the attempted kick and the % of those kicks then hit. Proves you can make stats support almost any outcome.

Welcome to Demonland: Kade Chandler
Left footed small forward who tested with good vertical jump results at SA combine.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Kade Chandler
small forward 173cm and attended the SA combine I believe. Had the 2nd best running vertical jump at the combines at 93cm. 10th best standing vertical at 73cm. NB another leftie.

Welcome to Demonland Toby Bedford
We could also choose not to take him at all?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KADE KOLODJASHNIJ
Don't disagree there is a chance he will play up front but at 187cm can you be called a small forward?

Pretty good. He took 14 marks which gives him plenty of chance for a few sloppy turnovers I guess.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I wish him all the best and I will not knock those that are disappointed but I want team players who want to bleed for the jumper and their brothers in it. It never felt like that was the case with him. My view is we will be a better functioning team as we showed without him later in the year and I would not be surprised if his best football has already been witnessed due to physical and mental toll. .

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Tie the Suns pick 19 or 24 to that itโs basically the same outcome with Hogan at the Suns instead of Dockers. Hogan must really like the beach and warmer climates or losing or both to agree.
