  1. Can’t see Vince back unless he swaps with Lewis. Thought Keilty was excellent and Frost good, stretch first half very good but little impact on second half. Baker covers the ground well and wins the ball well but doesn’t do much with it yet. I think the rest are nothing more than back ups to our best 22.
  2. Was named in our bests 3 of the first 4 and then the finger issue. Should have missed two-three weeks minimum but stupidly played through and has not recovered his touch or confidence. Was looking good quarter 1 last week settled back as a pure forward. I expect him to get back to something like his best this one.
  3. Petty to debut. MFC site source. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-06-28/petty-pleased-with-debut-news
  4. Whatever changes we make I want ones that fix our structure for when we play the other potential finalists. We have and should beat those around us based on talent and application. Its when the pressure is on and our deficiencies are shown up we need to sort. Use now to sort it over the next 3 week stretch and get it right before we should be truly tested again.
  5. No. Do you follow the VFL? His form has been outstanding. We cannot win because our outside ball winners Fritsch aside and lesser extent Jones if played there have no carry, connect or skill and so we dump long into 50 when under pressure. Playing Harmes or Tyson there will not fix this. We need someone to rotate through with Fritsch and Jones who lowers their eyes, offers quality connection and can change the angles moving forward. JKH has killed it the last month in the VFL playing a similar role as has Stretch and both have also worked on their inside game. Time to reward the recent form of both with some time in the seniors against weaker oppo and attempt to fix the part of our game that has cost us against Richmond early, Collingwood and once again on the weekend.
  6. In: stretch, Weid, Jkh out Tyson, T Smith, Vince NB Harmes to play back.
  7. Show me once you add petty or frost next week the match ups vs StKilda. I look forward to reviewing them.
  8. Small down back was not the problem. Inability for forwards to spread and us to bomb long was. Possibly not having a crumb to duo with Hannan ( who had 5 shots on goal) was.
  9. Who took the marks? If their name is Ebert so we have a tall back problem?
  10. The ten marks were all in 50 to their talls were they? You story is not stacking up my friend.
  11. 6 Viney 5 Oliver 4 Jetta 3 Brayshaw 2 Melksham 1 TMac
  12. This is the year of beating the teams we should and hopefully sneaking into the final. Next year we must take the next step and take these games .
  13. Check the stats and report back how many contested marks Dixon, westhoff and Marshall took? I don’t think it aligns with your perception.
  14. Their talls kicked 3 goals. Did you watch the game or wrote your own narrative yesterday?
  15. The umpires did not win them the game. Our inability to kick goals with our inside 50 count did. Wrong move to not play a crumber.
  16. 2 free kicks for the game and his opponent who most said would towel him kicked one goal. Least of our problems. Get over it son
  17. How many goals did Dixon kick?
  18. Great effort by most with poor execution. Needed to take our chances in the first half but couldn’t break them or the crowd. Two many that think they are better than they are. Hogan and Petracca time for your talent to be matched with intensity.
  19. He needs to have his role simplified. He is a half forward trying to prove he is a midfielder. Now he is doing neither well. I suspect his mid year review would have been the most interesting fly on the wall convo. I will be interested to see any shift in where he spends his time or the way he approaches the role. Not unusual for a player 50 games in to have a lull. Not many players have a straight up trajectory, those wanting him on the trade table is laughable. He needs to be playing high half forward and get back to attacking the ball and man and setting up goals.

Sorry WB I probably should have been clearer with my sarcasm. Outside mature players at that age will have a significant risk of injury.

The concept makes sense. Put him on a wing or high half forward and he would offer great quality, run and experience. Just like Wells has at Collingwood, Deledio at Giants and Stevie J before him....

Rather than be knee jerk to QB only I think we have three things to resolve coming into the back half of season. These were already known but were validated against very good opposition on the weekend. Who is the second ruck? The Lewis/Vince backline combo will catch us out and needs to be solved now? What is the right small forward combo. Based on addressing these needs I would do the following initially and continue to tinker to get these right. Pedo out for T Smith (him or Weid but I think Tim provides more flexibility at this time) Vince out for Harmes (I would trial him as a running back). Hannan for Garlett (I will take Spargo's second quarter and 7 tackles overall over Hannan's first quarter and 2 tackles for the game). Things that others appear to think we need address but I don't I have ignored. These include a presumed need for a second tall back (a more dynamic back 6 I would prefer) and to bring in another inside mid like Tyson (I think this can be solved by Jones going outside and Brayshaw in).
