Quarter time

Geelong 4.4 28

Melbourne 3.4.22

Goals Bruce Wheatley Neitz for us, Ablett Stokes Ling Hawkins for them

Great effort by the guys in the first quarter.

It's a shame poor skill errors gifted them the last 3 goals.

Jones disposal was terrible. PJ has been fantastic.

Decent first quarter. Fantastic first 10 minutes. intensity was there in the 2nd half of that quarter but stupid mistakes let them down. Like not kicking to advantage, going backwards, thinking twice etc. etc.

Overall, our best quarter of the year so far. We still haven't won a quarter this year though.

Jones has a brain the size of a pea

No awareness at all

just down at quarter time but its only because of a couple of skill errors...im V happy with that quarter, dean bailey just has to insist that they keep it up, just keep fighting, get to the footy first....i can see some glimpses of the run and carry btw

turnovers still hurting us, however we're working a lot harder than in previous weeks... actually running to provide an option it would seem, something we haven't been doing...

disappointing to surrender the lead at the end there, really should be in front...

BLOODY CRAP SKILLS ARE KILLING US!!!!

If you can't hit a target, just go away and don't come back.

As much as I love Jones, he cost us two goals. And lets not even mention Carroll... what the hell was that [censored]-weak handball?

Other than that, our pressure is fantastic and we are playing really well. Unfortunately for us, we can't win because we have some of the most craptacular skills in the competition. Still, as long as the effort is there.

By the way, Miller at CHF is doing extremely well. Love his "don't mess with me" burst through the pack.

I have no vision... ought Robbo have found a better target instead of having his "trademark' hard shot ?? just asking

Quarter-Time

We are six points behind thanks to a couple of late Geelong goals. Having said that, we have been impressive - great intensity but poor disposal. Promising.

Good players so far have been Paul Johnson, Brock McLean, Aussie, Wheatley, Carroll and Neita. Brad Miller has done some good things in the forward half, while Cale Morton and Nugget have both been let down by their poor disposal.

It is not just skills but DECISION MAKING! FFS! FFS!

Jones, meters in the clear, kicking long to WHAT??!?

Wheatley, is the dying seconds, chipping into the middle?

PJ excellent. Miller Good. Aussie, not bad sunshine, not bad at all.

Morton, all he needs is time, confidence and two summers in the gym.

Sylvia should be traded for whatever we can get - christ I'd take a chicko roll at this point. He does stupid things often and good things rarely. Bad ratio.

Rivers sounds like he's beating Mooney, same with Carroll on Hawkins

112 disposals to 105 in 1st quarter our way

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
