Dean Bailey quotes from the B + F

"To the players who are in the room, I put this challenge to them," Bailey said. "In 30 days' time, pre-season starts. The reality is that it actually starts tomorrow.

"It has been four to five weeks off now. The greatest challenge will be when you walk in that door on the 31st of October, will you be in the best condition that you've been for a pre-season?

"Because if you are, you will certainly show me and your teammates and everyone else who's involved in football, that you're seriously committed to next year."

"One of the first things I've been asked is about the Junction Oval. It smells like a footy club," he said. "There's sweat and anger in the rooms. That's what a football club is about."

I love this man

We might be bumping "the hardest team to play against" in 2 years also

What do The Bermuda Trinagle, Crop Circles, The Loch Ness Monster, Stonehenge and Yze-Magic have in common?

That's Melbourne's biggest problem. They are all talk. We want to see actions & on field results!!

ok can we start life-banning people who bump threads

If you don't want a thread being bumped, maybe ask it to be closed? Otherwise I will post where I please, I found this thread amusing, so I posted lol.

The fact that we were still at the junction oval into the 21st century tells us all so much.

I got slammed for bumping a post from 2007 earlier this week, Benson. Don't do it man, next Someone will accuse you of being an illuminati moon landing hoaxer.

The fact that we were still at the junction oval into the 21st century tells us all so much.

The Junction oval was renowned for having the best surface in the League to train on. Fair enough on the rest of it but a team will learn most of the fundamentals out on an oval.

As for gym work and other aspects of training up a team, you find a way and you become resourceful. We probably just sat on our hands.

We actually played finals on a semi regular basis when we were at the Junction oval. Now we have all these 'State of the art' facilities and we can't win a game.

I'm Batman.

Hahaha! Thanks Benson, got a great laugh here;)

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
