Watching Port Adelaide dismantle the Roos...

It makes me even more excited that we decided on Dean Bailey

He was head of Ports midfield, who have become the best in the business (now that Judd has left WC)

I also rate Mark Williams as best coach in the league, and I am sure lots of Choco has rubbed off on to Bailey

What about the Roos?

How did this rabble make a preliminary final?

They have 2 good forward-cum-midfielders in Harvey and Grant, and a very useful ruckman in Macintosh, but the rest of the team, their forward line in particular is absolutely ratshit. Aaron Edwards is a VFL-Level forward benefiting from some AFL-Level delivery. He still can't kick. Corey Jones likewise, with an element of flukiness about him.

Laidley must be a genius to get this lot this far. Too bad their being exposed now.

I think Mick Malthouse has been the equal of Williams/Thompson this year, I know it won't be a popular view.

I wasnt saying Choco was the best this year

He is the best FULL STOP

Put it this way, if the Roos can come from so far down in 2006, to making a preliminary final in 2007, than we are definitely a shot at the top 4 next season.

The Roos are not rubbish, they are just an average team playing above themselves. The one thing they have that we don't (yet), is mental resolve. While their finals campaign has been abysmal, throughout the year they did not lose games that they were expected to win, and they won games that they were expected to lose. They have leadership all over the ground and they fight like hell.

We have a far better list, but we don't apply ourselves.

If Bailey can change our on-field attitude, and if we can say injury free, we will finish about the Roos on the ladder next season.

As much as I hate Malthouse, he has done a fantastic job considering their list.

What's the problem with Collingwood's list? They have a few deficiencies like any team, but I wouldn't underestimate the quality of their list generally. Their young players are excellent. Cloke is everything Miller isn't. Pendlebury, Swan, Shaw, Rusling and Thomas are terrific. Clarke is going to be as good as Kennelly. Even Maxwell is developing well as a tough backman.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
