Choco Williams

What was my namesake "Choco" Williams thinking releasing the new coach? As if Bailey didn't tell him in confidence. Yes, he has an obligation to his club, but is he insane? He should not have revealed the new coach of another club. Dog act.

It was decided last night why wait so long to announce it? It's not Chocko's fault that our club has been milking the whole process for all that it's worth, good on him I reckon at least we are all out of the dark.

I can understand Chocko not giving two hoots about the MFC - but surely out of respect for his long-term colleague, he could have kept his mouth shut for a couple of days

Choco is paid by the Alberton people.. not ours!!

But what about a bit of respect for his loyal deputy and Melbourne in holding back the secret until Monday? What difference will it make if he was in the coaches box this weekend for their game against a decimated Shockers side?....

It would have been very obvious to the media why Bailey wasn't at the Power's training today. They asked him a direct question, and he doesn't have to keep the situation quiet for the MFC.

The club knew, Baliey knew, so couldn't they have just announced it today instead of waiting the weekend?

And while I get that it would have been nice (and respectful) for Williams to keep his mouth shut he isn't obligated to do anything of the sought.

Agreed. When someone resigns to join a competitor it is normal practice that the person leaves the premises immediately.

Surely MFC would have considered this likelihood and would have been prepared to announce to the market

It would have been nice as a bit of respect for Riley in his last game coaching us.

Riley was told last night, so it's irrelevant to him I would have thought.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
