Seems like a waste of a player/coaches continuing chronology to not bump an old thread. So i google the "name and demonland" to see if one has been made before and notice it is quite interesting in hindsight and perhaps it would be of some interest to others, at least for a laugh!

That sounds like logic...

11 year bump? Did someone have this thread favourited in Internet Explorer 3?

Intentional. High Impact. 3 weeks with an early guilty plea.

No idea what he is like as a person but his record is impressive

  • As a player won the Carlton B & F in a Flag year
  • Was generally regarded as a big loss when he left us as our midfield coach
  • Shafted at Carlton as Senior Coach, taking them to finals after becoming coach from the sacked Denis Pagan. Finished with a winning record (60-59-1) something you’d imagine the current Carlton coach would kill for.
  • Was assistant coach during the Hawthorn three peat and the current mini rebuild.

Personally i I would love to have him back to the club.

He is a must have appointment. Might be the best Decision the club has ever made.

knows the clarkson game plan back to front.

If he can shed some light to the staff and players of how the best coach of all time operates then that is an asset.

  • 3 weeks later...

Heard on the radio he’s officially joining St Kilda.

Good get for the Saints.

In reading the comments above, I don't think we really need Ratten.  With Goodwin and the team getting us to 5th and with the footy we have been playing I think we are headed in the right direction.  No need to change what has, to this point, been a very good combination.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
