Riley is doing a good job

Recommended Posts

I think Riley is better than most people think.

Watched the game pretty pathetic.

Riley is really exposing the pretenders on the list. He is showing everyone who is good enough and who is not.

The kids are better for it. Long term exposing Mclean is good for him. Sylvia is not fit enough and he leaves him out there to flounder and for a guy with to big an ego that is a good thing. Bate needs to work on his defensive running and he will. Jones is running harder and harder each week. Look at Frawley his development has been great in the last month. He is teaching Dunn a lesson by keeping him in the two's. Get the tape out once a week and show these guys that they need to work harder to get better.

It is becoming more obvious to everyone that miller is a hack, ferg is hopeless. holland lacks skill so does Brown. Godfrey is also finished.

I would rather lose like we did yesterday so the fat on our list is trimmed than to keep players who are not good enough.

Never sprout crap that these types of losses dont do young players any good they do. especially to a club that pats themselves on the back to much.

Agree.......I don't think we can read much into Riley as a coach watching the last few weeks.

You are right......he is finding out exactly where players are at.

It's an impossible task he has taken on, and I think he is doing the best he can for the club long term.

I certainly don't feel any anger at the way he is going about it............it's all about 2008 now!

What lesson is that exactly??

Dunn is a very naturally talented player. He moves well, uses the ball well has footy smarts.

But he relies to much on natural ability and not enough on hard work.

He should play as a utility. On the wing, half forward and defence when needed. To do this he needs to bulk up and get fitter a lot fitter. Riley wants him to learn to dominate games. He cant yet do that in a weak AFL team but in a strong Sandy team he should.

You have got to be kidding. TO who is Riley trying to prove are hacks? Everyone @ MFC know who they are. This is just a negative venture. Give ALL the available kids a go and that will be a good start for next year. Stupid comment of the season!

He is doing the best he can in a real tough position what do we expect the season is gone

Comrades, if this is Riley doing a good job, then I would hate to see him doing a bad job.

Both Richmond and Carlton are playing with more Mojo than what we are at the moment.

Biffinator.

Dont agree that the interim MFC coaching panel doing anything different from ND version. Glaring omission yesterday was when getting flogged - man up! All the commentators observed this. Especially in 3rd qtr!

If Riley was going to test the side out should have used last qtr to play some youngsters in future positions. Newton to FF and Neita to bench.

Why do Newton start on bemch and not come until aftre Power had scored 5goals??

Having said that not that the team selections points to a process of trying a few on the list so new coach has clear view of value of the list. Otherwise no logic in plan of Holland as 2nd ruck!! So we should not have expected that much from the game. However basis gameplan and effort would have been required. Very sorry for Whitey and Jonesy who bust their guts all day withbvery little support!

Answers from yesterday - ferguson and millaer GAWN1 Chopper will be back next week from Sandy. Sandy game was pretty lacklustre affair apart from 10 mts effort by sandy in lastqtr so no real indicator. Byron struggling to press for 200th

Next week should put jamar in and warnock if fit to see what they are worth & change a couple for each game.

If 300th was not close i doubt Neita would have played last 2 games. seems clear MFC wants achieved this year.

Once again you have repeated a stupid comment. If Riley doesn't know or acknowledge who the 'dregs' are by now, he shouldn' be doing the job. I'm sorry, he lost me forever last Thursday night at selection. Playing 'Dregs' to expose them is just a pathetic excuse and does not help with next year. Till he plays all the kids available, then in my eyes he is not fair dinkum about our future. It may as well be ND there.

I have come up with a theory in regards to the bizarre team selection for our last game.

We definitely want to lose the rnd 22 game against Carlton, but we don't want to appear to be tanking. So if we have some ridiculous team selections now and leading up to that game, when we(hopefully) do it fo the Carlton game, we can't be accused of blatant tanking.

Just a theory. Any thoughts?

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
